  1. It might seem like a selfish request, but it would be nice to see more effort being put into balancing the ranger pets so that we might see some diversity in the ones that everyone always uses. Doesn't even really need to be anything great just something that would bolster the old and mostly base game pets into something that's while not the best, still effective at it's role(or really just fun to use works too). Also why don't we have a Dolyak pet, and really just an assortment of other animals that area already in the game as options. Some of them could even have the same skills as the pets already in place, like with the different colored Moas wandering about.
  2. There's a crap ton of players running bursty builds that can nearly one shot people, and we all now have mounts to pounce and auto finish downed targets. Forgive me if I'm just being ignorant or blind here to an issue I just cannot see, but after all these years I've never seen the downed state in wvw as something that's problematic in any capacity. The only thing I can say that's been problematic is when it came to the cheese finishers on downed people, I'm sure people remember the portal hoping mesmers finishing people. From what I can gather from what people are saying, this is more of a problem with certain downed states in comparision to others. So it might possibly be best to either ask for nerfs or buffs in those given areas then just asking for downed states as a whole to be removed or nerfed.
  3. If there's not many people around to begin with then the kills mean little, regardless if they would count for point score or not.
  4. In my personal opinion I don't think you can incentivize small scale play in contrast to zergs as long as the warclaw exists, it gives the generally large and disjointed zergs too much mobility to move about the map at a steady pace without having anyone lag behind. Smaller grouper can in turn of course use them as well, but the benefit they reciev in contrast to the zerg in much less overall. It's also just a random thought and probably a stupid idea, but you could possibly restrict the ranged/aoe potential on the walls of towers and the like. While I don't really like the idea of that I think it could possibly incentivize more siege vs siege gameplay at the very least when it comes to capturing objectives and cut back a bit on zergs just steam rolling through everything. Though overall I'm not sure if it would really do much at all even if I'm not quite sure. Also if you don't mind me commenting about player skill level, I'd say it's about the same as it was in the past. It's just that in contrast to the past compared to now there's not as many options for effective build diversity or at the very least anything you could pick for meaningful build diversity. There's always been a problem in my opinion with the general community making overarching wide assumptions about gear/runes/sigils/etc. that need to be picked while at the same time never really experimenting with new build ideas. I'm sure there's people around here that remember the not so little amount of people near the games start that shouted from the rooftops about how mesmers were apparently terrible in wvw.
  5. For me personally it's the warclaw mount, as it just feels to me to see all classes having such great mobility and engage potential.
  6. Anything added that's like the Hoelbrak Mountain Pack would be an instant favorite for me, I just love that big ol backpack and the empty beer mug attached to it waving around.
  7. I don't think power creep is something you're ever going to solve properly in any give mmo, the best you can do and hope for is to get all classes into a state where they're fun to play even if they're albeit not balanced between each other.
  8. It'll probably sound stupid since but one of the things I've always found best with GW2 is the class design and there's really nothing else out there that comes close to it in my opinion. That's of course not to say that the classes are all that well balanced at times, but aesthetically they're really top notch in looks and theme.
  9. I'm not quite sure if there's anything they can do really, if anything I'd just say that people should just strive more to help new players and to be patient with them. Before I had my extended leave from the game I know people in general were rather hostile to most of what conflicted with the norm in wvw, so there was never really much of anything to help new players unless the player in question. Now I'm not sure if anything has changed since I've been gone because really how in the world could I know, but if it's at all the same I'd say it's mainly just an issue of player mentality with the older crowd for that game mode at the very least.
  10. Just gonna throw it out there since the whole "huge ranger burst" with longbow is something people seem to bring up constantly. But if you're having trouble with those types of rangers for whatever reason then you can simply run something with projectile destruction/reflect, and if you don't it's simply just your fault. If the ranger is truly doing such INSANE damage or whatever then they're most likely going to just kill themselves or blow all their endurance from dodging their own attack. Hell even if they're smart enough to end their attack you can either just now win if they really did put everything into that opening burst or just simply disengage since most rangers in wvw from what I've seen don't run with things that cripple/immobilize.
  11. discussion about soulbeast here seems to be ping ponging back and forth between wvw and pvp without really any clarification in most of the posts I'm seeing which in turn just makes this entire thread all the more confusing. Personally I believe there are a few things that should be changed about ranger to alleviate some problems but the manner of which I'm seeing people talk about it here just makes everything sound so much absurdly worse then it really is. Personally on a matter I'm not quite sure about myself is the rangers up time on unblockable attacks, since it can very much so nuke certain builds down quite easily. But on the other hand I know that the ranger heavily relies on unblockable attacks to do ANY damage at all on some targets so it's not really quite easy to just say nerf it to hell and back.
  12. From what I've seen as of late there is some things that do need to be tuned possibly, but if we're speaking of rangers as just a roaming class even with the cheesy builds on soulbeast I guess. It's not really anything I would call op once you realize what people are trying to use in my own opinion of course. I'm sure it's already been recommended somewhere here but it might be an idea to experiment with the cheese other players are throwing at you by messing with the class yourself, personally I used to have a lot of trouble with mesmers and still do depending on the match up, but playing the class myself helped with learning tells and such.
  13. I'm not a big fan of stealth spamming either, but I don't think adding more revels into the game is the solution here.
  14. If i like Taimi as a character, why would it do anything other then disappoint me if the devs decided to kill her off. No offense to the devs but I didn't really feel sad when they killed Eir off, only really disappointed because it just seemed like it was a catalyst to push her son Braham. Speaking of Braham, I think it would have an impact if we killed him off, he's a really well liked character unlike his mother who I know not many people liked. But killing off Braham would hurt though, and so he should die. Might I suggest maybe him being eaten alive by Jormag.
  15. I know hammer would be nice but I truly do think ranger needs some more love for ranged dps outside of the standard longbow, so rifle gets my vote.
  16. Norn/Sylvari are both equally lore friendly when it comes to rangers in my personal opinion. We see plenty of Sylvari around the world followed by their staple sylvan hounds, which can imply their close connection to animals/plant life not unlike the Norn. Though this is of course depends on your own personal perspective when it comes to what the ranger is, since like warriors, rangers are rather open to interpretation as to what they're lore wise. Anyway, in my opinion I think Sylvari/Norn are equally the most lore friendly race when it comes to rangers if you really wanted to look at it that deeply. I guess following those two would be Humans/Charr middling the ground as lore friendly rangers, and Asura coming dead last when it comes to rangers and lore friendliness.
