  1. Fighting with mounts is a poor idea imo but it would awesome if your mounts could gain lvls and unlock character bound (purchasing even like in GW) abilities that works in tandem with account bound abilities. Who knows, maybe that is what the Icebrood saga will do with the norn shape shifting lore abilities.
  2. It won’t though if the world boss has good rewards behind it. Remember domain of Istan, Dragonfall ?I remember how it was, and I know how it looks now )) And yet, they are still rewarding. Edit: I like what Mike Z had to tell about the Ice brood saga. I just don’t understand why they didn’t mention all of this during the big presentation at the Moore theater.

  4. Honestly I don’t know what you really expected from the game. We have known from the start of season 3 that they wanted to focus on open world content. High end instanced content have never been a focus of the game because you can play the game, ignore raids, ignore fractals, ignore dungeons (lul) and still make gold, gain AP while acquiring skins. In fact the only time raids got proper raid development was about the time when sales were dwindling the most, so that was obviously not good and they have never been able to consistently release both instanced high end content and open world at the same time. The hard truth is that you also have no guarantee they will use use the money generated by a subscription to fund the raids because they could very well use that money to develop more open world content, or WvW or PVP. Ah, I failed to quote "You know gw2 needs to make money to exist, right?" My post is just answering how Anet could easily extract $$$ from me. But I agree with you, I don't know what to expect in terms of Raids and WvW (another gamemode I used to enjoy before my WvW guild disintegrated) because there's no clear commitment. The Open world and Story content doesn't keep me engaged but that's okay. I'm not sure if there's going to be another raid and I'm not sure when alliances are coming... and I'm not sure I'll be able to get my friends to play again even if these features come. If this content is in the game one day, I hope I can muster the will to play it. Until then I'm churning though a deep game backlog and trying other MMOs with new and old friends. Last year at Pax West Mike Z told me his favorite part of GW2 was the community. At first I didn't quite agree but after getting more involved with the raid scene and meeting some of the nicest people I've ever met online, I'm starting to see what he meant. The previous ERP got me hyped to play again and try raids, and now I'm getting the chance to give back to the raid community and it feels kitten good. I'm not really holding my breath for anything at the Aug 30th announcement, but I hope to personally thank the devs for all the effort they put into the game on behalf of of my dissolving community. The game isn't dead or dying without us and we hope the game continues to thrive. tl;dr A multi-mode veteran converted into a raider. Nothing desirable in gemstore. Will pay for raids/WvW. Raid/WvW community died. "Just Leave" meme feels okay :) Ah I see. Thanks for your precisions. Sad to see though that for the low amount of content raiders got, it doesn’t seem to be worth the wait. As for the topic at hand, I dont think there is not enough skins released through the game. It is more a matter of skins being too easily reachable and too easy to obtain. I don’t think open world is really at fault but rather the lack of varying content being thrown into open world and the fact that the metas have been too easy to complete. However games in general don’t tend to have an amazing open world content. It is more of a pass to make the players rush into instanced content where you will get the most replay-ability. So who knows, maybe that is what season 5 will do: switch the model from of having most of the rewards easily reachable and obtainable in open world.

  6. They really need to make IH baseline to make this trait worth it then. Complaining that sand shards doesn’t do enough damage isn’t right though. It is a utility trait, it really shouldn’t do both. As for replacing IH, I would suggest that they straight up have a “ambush attacks deals x amount of more damages” so that you can take it whether you go for condi or power damages.
  7. Of course you invalide content with permanent flying. You know what is so wrong with permanent flying:The fact that it becomes effortless. And the fact that it pretty much makes all the other mounts pretty much irrelevant. Players can pretty much bypass everything already (even core players can bypass content with the waypoints system) but the fact is, in order to bypass, you have to spend some amount of resources. You can decide to skip an entire part of the world with a WP but for that you need to make sure that you are ooc. And the best way to casually idle ooc in any part of Tyria is to get on that Skyscale (provided of course that there are no foes that throw projectiles at you in the surroundings) and then effortlessly travel by using a feature in conjunction with another feature. You can fast travel an entire region with your beetle but you gotta make sure to control the mount in the first place and also make sure that you know enough of the maps to evade environmental obstacles and large concentration of of foes that might dismount you. The truth is that we can bypass most stuff even without the Skyscale. We just need a little time investment in figuring out good keybinds to easily switch from one mount to another and of course know enough of the map surroundings in conjunction to good uses of the dodge key when dismounted. One last thing thing also. I don’t think that most people on forums were against mounts per se pre-PoF (except for a tiny minority of a minority of players commenting on forums). What most were against on forums is a copy pasta implementation of mounts like in wow (or any other games). So obviously now that we know mounts are implemented differently, most are praising mounts in GW2. Edit: spellchecking
  8. That is a bad idea. It would also affect mirage clones. I know that. Clones die too quick in any mesmer build. If IH/Ambushes are fixed, tougher clones would be okay in mirage as well. Superspeed trait was used a lot, because it used to solve a giant problem mesmer had before phantasm rework. I am not sure but I guess it can be changed, however not in this way. By the way, it would be better to scale the barrier with healing power. Well of course healing power would need to be taken into account. Why don’t you like barrier though ? And correct meif I am wrong but doesn’t Barrier already scale with healing power ?
  9. Make clones always have 15% or 20% HP of the player (affected by vitality) instead of global 2400 HP. That is a bad idea. It would also affect mirage clones.Instead of having superspeed for the trait Time catches up, why not make the clones gain barrier and have it gain 15% HP of the player (it would scale dynamically based on the HP pool during a fight) on top of the global 2400 HP when they are shattered ?
  10. Oh I have a clue of what I am talking about. I am talking about the over reliance to do damages and gain sustain through clones (especially for staff chaos playstyle),which in turn makes it unfun to play against mirage due to general visual clutter.Thats what you think. Why I have to explain why stupid idea is stupid ... :(Making no clones = less/no shatters which interferes with "Anet" grand vision that mesmers must use shatters and have active playstyle. To not rely on clones they could buff personal ambush and make clone ambush condis lasts 0.0001s and its done, identify real mesmer, dodge his ambush.Personally I can not understand how you can come to the conclusion that the old staff phantasm was better than what we have now.Old phantasm if hit did tons of damage (casually throwing 8k crits on power), make projectile actually track your target and it would be strong as hell but its pointless to discuss as they will never revert Maybe but with IP we still can use shatters without having no clones. We still can summon clones without relying on the ability to get clones out off phantasm : we have got utility skills that summon clones, we have got sword ambushes and sword 3, we still have staff 2 as well the deceptive evasion trait in dueling that, let's be real here, everybody uses. The reason deceptive evasion is so used its because it is the only reliable way of producing clones. When illusionary reversion was good no one cared about deceptive evasion, if self deception and deception skills were good no one would care about deceptive evasion. Just revert the phantasms to the old shatterable ones (won't happen but w/e). Why are you talking about illusionary reversion for chrono ? I am purely talking about mirage trade off here. Getting to the point why deceptive evasion is mandatory. In case of mirage because self deception and deception skills are garbage. Yes, I would agree with that too. Deception skills could see some buffs.Self deception doesnt just give a clone, you must have one alrdy, pure garbage, just like deceptions themselves (except heal) Honestly they should move away from the idea of having traits that give more clones in elite specs. When these traits are too strong, it just powercreeps deceptive evasion. When it is too weak, it is just not worth taking and in PvP, players will just play deceptive evasion anyway. Ye, lets make dueling DE mandatory in every build, lets have even less variety of traits to chose from ! /s /facepalmYes exactly, you know why? Because dueling evasion is not the only ability that makes you summon clones. And maybe in the future, it might be a bit more interesting to not make every mesmer build only about summoning enough clones just to shatter them without interruption. But guess what ? The devs are already doing that with the concept of ambushes and you certainly do not need to summon that large amount of clones to gain the effect of your shatters thanks to IP. It is also not because the devs offer different way of gaining clones outside of dueling evasion that players will suddenly stop running DE. It happened in HoT times when they nerfed illusionary reversion because players were just combining both effects and it didn't happen in PoF times because they purposefully made self deception very weak imo. Other than that, may I just point out that the devs can make the effect of shatters not require the illusion to actually reach the target. That is something they did for chrono this year with flow of time and seize the moment. So maybe they could also do that mirage.

Personally I can not understand how you can come to the conclusion that the old staff phantasm was better than what we have now. I mean yeah it did more damages but the damages would require a heavy amount of conditions in the first place to make it worth and it would also assume that the very slow moving projectile would never be blocked, evaded, reflected or that it would reliably reach the target. Here we have 2 phantasm that do damages reliably while having the luxury of becoming clones that you can ambush and shatter. And talking about lack of damages, did you even try to trait it for more damages ? you talk about wanting mesmers to rely on clones less, and you mention buffing mirrored axes, trait that has HEAVY reliance on clones to deal damage, on top of that it is an axe, kitten weapon in the first place. When I talked about updating the skills I never said the traits should keep the same mechanism. But anyway, yes, maybe this trait doesn't need to be changed.

Edit: I also wanted to point out that, for mesmer it is also pure powercreep to have phantasm turn into clones because as it stands, phantasm are already doing the damages that will pile up to the damages the clones will apply, no matter if you either play condi or power.

  17. sounds reasonable, what do we get in return ? Personally I would buff Riddle of sand and the axe trait a little bit. That is the problem with mirage, its damage is way too much reliant on clones imo and with IH, it is an issue. buffing that wont fix anything, becouse confusion, is the worst damaging condition in the game, by far.if anything they should buff shatters, EXPECIALLY f2, on full condi damage, f1 deals more then f2 and thats just stupid.without torment trait using shatters on cmirage is a waste of damage, only used after using f4 to dryshatter for vigor and 1500dmg max, amazing class mechanic Also, if you nerf IH and give back damage with riddle of the sand, PVE condi mirage ends up with big loss in damage due to reliance on selfdeception or whatever that trait is calledOf course when I talked about buffing it, I did not really consider keeping riddle of sand as it is. More confusion when you can already apply it through the illusion traitline and scepter 3 isn’t very relevant.I was more thinking of reworking it. Something along the lines of:-the ambush attack of your clones do more damages (something similar to the domination trait that buff phantasm attack)-after performing an ambush attack, you gain a buff that increases your personal damages for x seconds.
  18. The problem with staff is that it summons too much clones, which is the main source for mirage to apply damages and for the sake of visual clutter, I think it would be beneficial to nerf it. The point is not to be pigeonholed into deceptive evasion for mirage but rather to have other damage sources for mirage (through trait choices) that are not necessarily bound to clones: talking about riddle of sand and mirrored axes here.
  19. sounds reasonable, what do we get in return ? Personally I would buff Riddle of sand and the axe trait a little bit. That is the problem with mirage, its damage is way too much reliant on clones imo and with IH, it is an issue.
  20. Mirage should just loose the ability to gain clones out off phantasm. IH wouldn’t get so obnoxious, especially with the staff weapon, which can basically summon three clones on top of the ability to summon clones through deceptive evasion.
  21. I loved lws1 because IT CHANGED the current world and made IT slightly harder. The problem i 'currently see is running around in An elite spec with zerg armor and keep killing mobs with certain professions. Challanging content would be nice...if you could... Lets make An example; if palawa joko in last lws went to orr to 'convince' all of zhaitan's masterless Minions to joint his cause and therefor they wouldnt need a master and would fight smarter and were. Little tougher. This wouldnt need a whole new map but would generate a whole new experience. Especially if it would be a 'selectable' instance. (THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, THERE'S A MILLION ROADS TO WALK IN STORY) You can even make sure IT doesn't have the same waypoints, vistas etc. IT would require different recources, its 'currently metatrains or AC trains that bore after a small amount of time All lws3 maps died, which didn't give a good farm on nodes or events Why are you talking about open wold when I am mentioning raids ?My idea was to have LS1 played in instances: open world raid portal for stoy mode and and the usual aerodome portals for the 10 men raid instances.
  22. LS1 needs to be reimplemented after LS5.They should do it in the form of raids imo, with a proper story mode (1 to 5 players) of course and some skin incentive to fully complete the story and then transition to raid normal mode.
  23. The build in question didn't even use sword So globally people cry about something that was long in the game and feel OP all of a sudden, it's a lot like the epidemic nerf. That said, not using sword ambush with this trait feel like a waste. Maybe players just aren't as good as they think they are and they should work a bit on their build like sephiroth suggested with reason.Let’s be real for a second here. The only reason people never took chaotic interruption before is because bountiful disillusionment was way better. And it became really worthwhile to take it only once IP became baseline. Other than that the only reason CI suddenly became strong and really valuable is because mirage makes it possible to cast the mantras and evade at the same time.
  24. Yes. But defeating them should be doable. This is a story. Story. Not a raid, Not a frac, not a dungeon, it is a story!!!!! Stories should be doable for all skill levels. Arenanet needs to find one of their employee's sainted grannies, the type of granny who bakes cookies and pinches your cheek, seat her in front of the living story and make sure she can complete it. If she can, it is a wrap. Lisa-groused about this very thing all the way through the survey That is all nice but now you make it sound like players has no option whatsoever, other than being shoehorned into using only offensive utilities with offensive skills with offensive weapons, with no knowledge whatsoever of what to do. And well you know, we have many options.Sadly, so few seem to care about it or even worse, to know about. shoehorned is what we have now...one size fits all.this is actually harder , than many other mmos end game content..i can raid in dcuo, and get 2-3 gear upgrades with much less effortbut of course i have to pay a sub fee for that privilegeHow is it shoehorned though ? All professions can rely on ranged weapons when players are not skilled enough to go melee. All professions have access to different types of gear that can combine damages and sustain and they all have access to evades, invulnerability or heavy sustain ability (that are not always tied to defensive stats) as well as sigils and and food and utilities that improve this sort of sustain. All you really need to do is not to burn all your cooldowns every time a skill is available. That is straight up a lack of knowledge.
