  1. Honestly, they should really just switch nomad’s endurance with infinite horizon.
  2. Honestly I would rather have housing and a stronger focus on guild features. Imagine if your could build your house from scratch in your guild hall ? If fishing ends up being cooking 2.0, then there is no point adding it. Fishing would only make it worthwhile if is part of the necessary mastery system grind to play the content: from my point of view, that doesn’t sound very exciting.
  3. Agreed - the recent achievements have also made me lose much interest in even bothering with achievements at all. The ones in the Saga are not even mostly difficult, just extremely time gated and grindy. The worst ones for me are the ones that require you to compete with other players for completion (i.e. many of the newest strike mission ones) and the ones that require you to do the same exact events 25+ times. What other options are they going to offer then ? We didn’t even have a full map like in season 4. I mean, don’t be surprised that they are fewer choices if this update only brought instance content. Other that that nobody is forcing you to farm the strike missions every day. Like everything else in the game you are free to play other content.
  4. It sure is, cause you make it sound like you know all about Anet's intentions while you're merely projecting your own views. In my opinion they should have EITHER triple-dip'd and made the unlocks accountwide OR only monetize the equipment loadouts and made the unlocks characterbound. But changing the pricing scheme at this point would be admitting defeat so they are likely going to try to burry it instead. I never intended it to be a “know it all” post. I am sorry that you got that impression.Everybody is projecting their own views on forums based on their own experience. And I would argue that making account bound gemstore purchases out of a limited and finite number of slots might not the best business decision, especially when they are now planning a new expansion.
  5. Releasing a much requested for years feature, which already had a much superior player made solution and then shutting that one down, when you as a company don't really want players to use (and buy) your own new one doesn't really make sense though. Plus in a sense this character based system at an extremely high price also directly conflicts with their alt friendly design. While previously with Arc Templates players were able to freely play a wide variety of professions and characters with a tremendous amount of freedom of choices in builds for each and everyone of them, now (unless you are willing to spend hundreds of euros/dollars on these Loadout slots) you are heavily encouraged by this system to pick maybe one or two characters/professions and deck them out with these character based slots, and then stick with playing just those. If they wanted to promote alt play, they should have made these Account wide unlocks, as the price certainly already reflects that. If making a new character means spending 800 Gems on the slot for it, 3000 Gems on Loadouts and maybe 400-800 Gems of bag slots (coming in at round 60+ €/$, aka the full price of a whole new AAA game), just to make one new character enjoyable and flexible to play with, I'd rather just not, stick with the same old characters and builds, and probably burn out from the game more quickly and take more breaks from playing it (using that money to play a whole new game for a while instead). But if people quitting or taking breaks from the game was the design intention with Loadouts, they nailed it. No offense but I don’t think you understood what I was saying. They don’t want you to have one main character and flexing it with as many builds as you want. They want you to keep all the alts that you may have created over the years and still find a reason to play them and gear them appropriately for a particular role/a particular mode/a particular gear, such as different condi builds for character A and different power builds for character B.Other than that they also expect people, for each character you own, to do one final gem purchase just to have three builds and three gears slots and get a bit more support financial support from players who may have not decided to use alts; either by incentivizing them to get more alts or pay the price of using the few characters they own if these players want to increase the range of playable builds while also increasing the range of gemstore stuff to acquire/gold to gems purchase. You also need to consider the fact that on a regular basis, you don’t need to have that many builds in the game to be effective at it and the game does have a wide array of different profile of players, hence the convoluted feature of the build templates. If it is not for the convoluted feature, you can’t deny that it felt like a massive investment that are targeted at all players and not only to a tiny demographic of either heavily invested WvW players/raid players.Other than that, you can’t ignore that the primary function of arcDPS was to measure DPS and all the other buffs surrounding DPS. To the few players who might have heard of arcDPS before the implementation of the build templates, arcDPS was only here for the numbers because nothing indicates in the name that it also shares a build template feature and if it did, I would bet that it would have gotten far more popularity like the TACO and the wheel mount overlay, at the very least from the veteran community of players. In that particular case, then Anet wouldn’t have needed to develop their own build templates system. Anyway that is my opinion. Now the very problem of build templates, as said before, isn’t that it costs money to fully upgrade for each character you own. That is something that veteran/more hardcore players can live with because for the majority of these they had the opportunity of insta leveling/gearing many different characters and even across multiple accounts. The real problem is that from a functionality point of view and for the cost that the system represents, it doesn’t do a stellar job at handling infusion/sigils/legendary items and that is an issue because in the long run, it won’t motivate players to get into easy endgame content. So I guess these particular issues will be resolved with the legendary armory.
  6. Just join the LFG with a regular dos build: they are groups that require no exp/LI or whatever insane requirements and that are willing to teach as the fight progresses.Personally, I went from not doing any group endgame content for the last 3-4 years (only doing open world stuff) to easily complete the 3 first SM and getting my first whisper of Jormag kill two days ago. You do need to have a basic understanding of any class you play though if you are insisting on pugging.
  7. Honestly your idea could work. But it should only be part of some long end game optional achievement system with its own rules like some sort of a mini-game.
  8. At the end of the day, we also need to consider the fact that guild wars is a very alt-friendly game.Deep down, I am sure Anet prefers to have players buying and playing many alts than having players only playing a few characters with many different builds that could be free. Sounds like the cost of build templates is just there to break it even the cost of development and the opportunity of players having accumulated many alts over the years.
  9. How is that any different than a regular open world event ? Personally, the only time I died in this mission is when I accidentally targeted the boss out of his DPS phase and ended up in the lava. I would even argue it is even more casual than any other event because at the very least you are free to do it whenever you want.
  10. But the story is for everyone, people have been low-manning it. When I first did it, I ended up doing it with a group of four in a public setting. Why do you keep assuming that it requires 10 players ? This event is like any typical open world chain of event that leads to some world boss, it is even easier than that because you can’t actually fail the final boss. Other than that, stop assuming that strike missions are tuned for the “top few percent of players”. I personally have been busy doing only open world for like the last 2 and a half years and even I could kill strike mission bosses. But then again, like everything in this game, it does require to know about the basic mechanics.
  11. I can’t believe people are arguing over a few silver. Was it free in the past to travel from one bounty in PoF and then join a HoT meta event ? If you are so concerned about WP costs, why not just park an alt in EoTN ?
  12. Hmm I think assume you way too much things about the numbers of clovers you are going to be able get through WvW/PvP. It is not like if you could get a mystic each time you open a chest in WvW or each time you either loose or win in PvP. And we all know that in order to progress these track faster you need all the boosters + winning the match-ups. That is not something available to any random casual that decides to play WvW/PvP. It is true that you are going to get some for free but how many hours is it going to take? No matter how you spin it, it will require dedication whether you are a only PvE player or a WvW/PvP, unless Anet decides at some point that mystic clovers becomes a daily resource that requires a broader supply. Other than that, using your alt account to give traction to your complaint, I find it very lame.
  13. They said they are going to show the trailer of visions of past tomorrow. Is that all they are gonna reveal? Just that..... I don’t know. I don’t work for Anet. Welp, faith is gone and hope is dead. Honestly Im not sure how they can expect anyone to be hyped for... like... babies first fractals fused with the caithe mission from S2Well I don’t know what to tell you. You seem to assume a lot about content that you know nothing about. Move on maybe ? If so, can I get your stuff ? ?

  16. This I apologise for falsely pointing onto you, but you should be aware the whole topic is about willing or not willing to do strike mission. The whole topic isn't about willing or not willing to do a strike mission. The whole topic is about Anet adding content that was never there before as a required part of the meta. You're singling out the fact that I don't like the change, but the topic is about the change. If it was here all along there wouldn't be a conversation. But when a change occurs, if you don't like the change, you're well within you rights to say so. This is an unacceptble change to me, which ruins content I previously enjoyed. It's not about willing, it's about enjoyment. No offense but this mental gymnastic has to stop. You created this topic about you being unwilling to do the content because so far all you have to argue about is being a player complaining because your habits are being changed. Therefore it is precisely about being willing or unwilling to do the content. The Icebrood saga was about changing the formula of the game. That is the main reason why it is not called Living story season 5. Had the devs clearly stated at the start of the season that they would just do a copy pasta of season 3 and 4, then I personally would have agreed with your complaint but it really isn’t the case here. You can’t ignore the fact that before, even if most players could do the meta achievement without doing instance content, the number of players actually doing it was rather low.In a similar token, you also can’t also ignore the fact that players were complaining about the lack of group up and incentives (like guild missions) and frankly only proposing open world as the “main group up option” where people are forced to wait for an event to pop up is not the best way for people to stick with the game. You know why ? Because the more maps the devs add, the more people are spread. The more they are spread, the harder it becomes for an event to be regularly and successfully completed to the point which the devs are going to need to make easier and easier events (based on feedback because obviously open world needs to very casual and easy like any other game). And the easier it becomes, the more shallow the maps become to the point where the participation within the maps will tank so hard because players would just rush the events as fast as possible within one week).Just think about that: season 3 and and 4 alone mean 12 maps and we all know that the events within these maps weren’t regularly completed because the devs actually needed to update the daily system of these maps. Other than that, you know what is sad: the fact that some random passionate GW2 player can’t be bothered to group up with 9 other players at any time of the day even though he had no problem doing it before with 30+ more in the past while needing to show up at a specific time as well as doing fractals.Nobody is forcing you to do raids (only a few strike missions), the game is only making you feel like achieving the meta of a map will require a bit more than spending your majority of your time only on open world (I would argue that it is a reasonable expectation since you are a veteran player). But you can’t ignore the fact that some players (even new players) want to see more than open world and they are being restricted because the bridge that allow them to transition from one sub to another isn’t there because there is no achievement incentive to do so (since players have been used to skip it before). On a personal level my majority of the time playing the game has been busy doing open world content. Yet, even if I am still at tier 2 fractals while not having participated in the fractals since the beginning of season 3, I still got my first boneskinner SM kill (even though I died in the first 20% burn phase). My point being: no matter what content you play, it will always be very easy to get carried in instanced content just like the majority of players are being carried in open world as well. Later on I participated in the drakkar meta at prime time EU: the event failed with a commander tag. Three days before I tried to do the blood legion grothmar valley event: it failed even with a commander a tag because not enough people showed up. TLDR: as much as I like the very focused open world nature of the game, the game needs to incentive players to group up outside of open world -one time you can miss- events and requiring people to do the strike missions (just so they have a better basic understanding of the game) is the best way possible to sustain the game so far. You might think 20k is hard core, but it's not necessarily so for a lot of reasons. The standings are about people who made accounts and played some for only a couple of weeks or even a couple of days. THere are 11 million plus accounts according to ANet. If there are a million active players that means there are 10 million inactive ones. Of course 20,000 AP is going to be near the top of the food chain. You also have to understand that many of us are playing since season 1 when the ability to get points were higher and many of us have been in the guld for that long. A few of us are here since day one of head start without many breaks. That means just doing dailies (or dailies and monthlies) would give you 15,000 points if that's all you did. You'd only need 5,000 points to break 20,000. Longevity adds a lot to the process. But being in a guild adds some too. We help each other with achievements making some of them that would be hard easier and faster. We enjoy playing together because we have fun together, not because we're hard core. Today for example, one of our guys wanted an achievement on a second account that he couldn't get and a few of us joined him in the instance to get it. It was killing the last boss in A Crack in the Ice in five minutes. He didn't really do the achievement, my wife did. He just benefited. Having a helpful guild makes it seem like he's a hard core player, but he's really not. Maybe my wife and I could be considered hard core casuals, because though we don't like instanced content nearly as much we certainly love doing stuff in the open world and even in story instances. Anyway, just my thoughts on your thoughts.I think you answered to the wrong person. I haven’t mentioned anything about the 20k.

  18. No For that wouldnt help. That would only make keep reinforcing bad design changes. The one dodge was just a bad idea. Nothing should be done to fix it. It should just be undone. Going back to 2 dodge and adjusting ambush damage is what needs to be done. Anet was just very lazy and TBH seems to have wanted to try and kill of Mirage. I think its a bad idea to even entertain the idea that its somehow "workable" After reading the post you linked about Bravan, I do think you are now making a pretty compelling case.So how do you adjust ambush damages exactly ?Other than that, maybe it would be a bit more intelligent to limit the number of clones a mirage could summon by making it impossible to get clones out of phantasms.
  19. If mirage gets only one dodge now, they should really change how we gain back endurance on the minor master nomads endurance.
  20. This would be an awesome plot twist if it turned out to be true ?
  21. I think it would be better to make the three corrupted spirits spawn at the same time to divide the zerg and make it impossible to just kill one spirit and join another instance to kill another (like in silverwaste. Other than that, make the drakkar mechanics a bit more harmful. At this point, Drakkar is just a too long drawn out encounter with not much going around, despite all the efforts to make it interesting.
  22. Yeah, it seems a little extreme... Personally fail to see how this is an extreme change.I mean we have a trait, a heal skill and utility skills (it might actually make them worth using) that generate mirage cristals to get some evade uptime. Plus, dueling will still be able to make mesmer gain endurance and we all know it is easier to recharge 1 endurance bar than 2. That is also the only nerf that makes it acceptable to get evade uptime while being Cc’ed since they obviously have no intention to change that (whether it is a case of design choice or/and resource management). mirage needs to use dodges to deal any damage.immagine playing power mirage and using ambush, now you are stuck with 0 evades lol.And the mechanic of dodge is produced by creating and destroying these mirage cristals. I mean, take a look at illusionary ambush: you don’t even need to create a cristal in order to gain the effect of mirage ambush for you to apply additional damage.
  23. Yeah, it seems a little extreme... 24. I appreciate the effort of updating the weapons but in the future, could we get some particle effects that doesn’t rely on golden aura ? I mean, it sorta feels redundant with the weapons that you get acquire in festival of the four winds.
  25. Who knows ? Maybe that is what Visions of the past is all about.
