Ranger is a duellist class by design and concept, evades and escapes are linked to the nature of the class itself, every game you go and play a ranger archetypes ..you will find the same kind of evasive/escape potential : Aion-FF online- EoS - WoW etc etc If people don't want that kind of gameplay..then give a shield and a mace to rangers along with heavy armor and call it "warrior with a pet", I don't detract anything from your post..some giving some additional infos From your Profile icon , shall I assume you play a guard?! Played one for hundreds of hours and know the traitlines by heart, played it from pvp to wvw passing through pve...same thing with war in case you play one . I know exactly the levels of sustain I can reach on guardian and warrior and yeah...without saying too much, you have not much room (if at all ) to complain about ranger sustain ( which I play too) Ranger deserves some nerfs...but let's not get too crazy..because if we start looking at the sustain of ranger too much....guardian and the rest won't get a free pass Wouldn't that also be true to the thief class? It would be like trying to have a thief who doesn't evade and doesn't go stealth and backstab, and people endlessly complain about the mechanics.People complain about the endless reset and engaging/disengaging options which don't make for fun gameplay ...like a 1500 range archer sniper oneshotting people with 3k armor, it's possible to maintain the duellist nature without making it too oppressive for people to face
  3. This kind of gameplay belongs in pve, and is not suited to pvp in gw2. They should have thought about that when designing ranger and load 3/4 of ranger dmg on the pet....instead than trying to reinvent the wheel they should have played other MMOs to get an idea on how to design a ranger class or maybe...they should have just used GW1 idea of ranger Reckless innovation is nothing more than glorified blunder Now you end up with a class and a dead, useless mechanic making the class virtually unplayable..you share stats and depend on a pet that does no dmg, can't hit moving targets and die after 2 aoes...brilliant game designing there...

You are badly designed that what's happening....the perfect noob carry profession.....highest HP plus a defensive HP bar mechanic which grant access to offensive skills at the same time plus traitlines raising ferocity and precision to zerker levels even when slotting full soldier stats...oh forgot to mention passive toughness increase trait, quickness and life steal....oh wait there is more....insta cast persisting ranged aoe triggering several traits/sigils when activated.......did I mention that is braindead easy to play?
  6. You said they were spamming headshot. Thats when you stow the weapon. If theyre not, you fight back. Their autoattacks do more damage than yours, but you have a ton of damaging skills, and they do not. Remember, even during HoT, thief was not a good duelist. They were still only a +1-class (and one that, for most of HoT, didnt do too hot). Uh, no thats exactly what headshotting spam is. What you described is also that, but lets give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you mean you only use headshot when they use an attack. That still is really bad play. You dont headshot on an autoattack. Again, if you want to use ini just for damage, use Shadowshot. Hell, for a lot of attacks, you still use shadowshot, because blind is better than interrupt since it doesnt refund their cooldown. If they do that, you still get a pretty free win, as they waste initiative on bad headshots, you get to use your big skills, and the thief just looks silly. Bad idea. Theyve already confirmed that several CC skills will get their damage back (because the current situation is, simply put, really bad). PI in its current state is a wasted trait slot. Noone will ever pick it up because its beyond unplayable. There are 2 options. Either revert the nerf and accidental overnerf, and have it be a slightly weak, but at least usable trait. Or you just rework it to something completely different. PI with Impacting distraction used to trigger on AA ..either a bug or a feature which doesn't make sense and btw the devs were referring to give some dmg back to war skills, specifically hammer which is terrible atm..really terrible, no mention of PI. A trait that triggers even on AA...and forgot to mention sigil of Absorption and Draining PvP/wvw ..finally for the last time, people should stop expecting top duelling abilities from a class that can run miles in a split second
  7. Firebrand , mirage are the only ones guilty of creating pure madness on the screen...I don't envy new players who need to get used to all the eye candy going on, blue/purple explosions everywhere followed by big yellow domes etc etc

You can't keep stowing weapons while eating dmg in your face! Again you try to act smart by taking literally the words : headshot spam... you know exactly that a thief "headshotting spam" is not a thief using headshot 3 times in a row...that's exactly the situation I have described so stop , your argument is built on fallacy . Can we please stop going in circles now ? We just remove the relation dmg=CC from every class so nobody can feel "left out" , we remove LR and PI dmg remains dead, bring your dmg somewhere else , AA- backstab etc etc..whatever as long as it's not PI Done everybody happy
  9. Yes. Offtank but yes. That's the niche it has filled since forever outside some meme build you suggest. They are not meme builds bro...if you want sustain...you need to slot a sustain traitline which is tactics whether you like or not, A warrior slotting discipline, strength and whatever is the equivalent of an ele running fire/arcana and whatever..then this ele goes and complains he lacks sustain..I bet you and many others would laugh at the ele telling him to run water line if he wants sustain. You're free to run ofc strength/discipline/spellbreaker or defense..but don't expect to rule the world with that build as duellist..let me compare traitlines between ele and warrior for example: Earth=DefenseWater=TacticsFire=StrengthAir=ArmsArcane=Discipline Pick your poison and playstyle , ele has been running water since 2012 on top of investing heavily in water. Rangers use wilderness survival , Guardians use Honor or valor or both ; engineers use Alchemy and so on.
  10. PI is not "decent", its completely unplayable. For one, it cant crit. Thats its gimmick. As for the damage? Its pathetic. Youre looking at an average 200-400 damage per PI. Its so bad, no build runs it. At all. It was already bad pre-patch (only one build ran it, and Im pretty sure even on that build it was the wrong choice), but then it got nerfed by 66%, more than twice as much as the average damaging skill. Its just unplayable. Its so bad its an outright troll pick. Headshot = 3/4s cast time, ini increased to 6..there you can have back 3/4 of the original dmg You could just write "I want Pulmonary Impact to be completely unplayable", it wouldve saved time and space. But no, you could simply revert the PI nerf, rever the accidental overnerf it got before that, and the skill would be fine. You simply want PI because of the easy spammable Head shot which still sit at 4 ini and 0 cast time...where all other daze/stun got a clear cast time to allow some sort of counterplay when all stars align, a daze that's even faster than any common reflect....meanwhile you complain about lightning rod considering it "unhealthy"...but somehow headshot spam is not because...bias ofc "Easily spammable". Spoken like someone who has never played the build. You didnt spam it. For one, thats a surefire way of getting no interrupts at all, but the damage, even if we revert both of the nerfs, just isnt worth it. You interrupt key skills, to get that and the damage. If you just want to spam a single skill for damage, you use Shadowshot. You always used Shadowshot for that. I also dont know how to tell you this, but youre wrong on both parts of the next sentence. First, it has a cast-time. Its a very short one, but its there. Second, there are a lot of daze/stun skills that dont have a cast time. More even that have the same short cast time Headshot has. Power Lock, Glyph of Equality, Diversion, Primal Echoes all of these are dazes without a cast time. And they dont daze for 0.25 seconds, they daze for a full second at least. Worse yet, they dont even have a travel time. Short cast times ones, youve got stuff like Concussion Shot, Katabatic wind, Chaos Storm and a couple others I cant be bothered to list. Stuns? Shocking Aura, Static shield, Slick Shoes, various ones that dont have a cast time either. Eh, that was when I was under the impression its nerf indeed didnt go through the patch. At this point its fine. But its also just far stronger than PI while being far easier to use. Thats ridiculous.You play semantic try to hold your argument....then I'll use a more " precise" explanation : -Few years back they buffed AA dmg for nerfs following an "idea" from the devs across this lines : "let thieves use ini only for important skills but let's buff AA so they have pressure anyway without using ini" yeah...absurd but anyway -Thieves were doing close to Backstab levels of dmg with the AA spam...no ini..free dmg -Trickery/dd d/p build -3-4k dmg with AA spam and a 15 ini free to be used for headshot spam which ridiculously trigger PI even on enemy AA and it was another 3-4k dmg from the trait..-_- -Even raising an arm and the thief was like :headshot lol, headshot lol, headshot lol -AA spam, pewpew...raise an arm..headshot lol, headshot lol But hey you're still trying to compare headshot to zerker melee d/d weaver with no cleansing or water healing...as I have said..you're biased, but hey you can have your lr nerf....nothing change much, LR zerker is only played at high levels by dozen or so of exp eles..nowhere else, a nerf to LR or shocking aura or anything else you can cry about ele atm...still wouldn't change anything. I am used to play with tickling dmg, 1.2k dmg on 15s CD skills with AA doing 300-400 dmg....so? Go on ..let's nerf this whole game out of the amazon servers!

It's called "lack of design experience"..imagine being a car designer go the meeting room and say :" hey let's attach a couple of wings to the new car model, it will give the driver that flying sensation"...yeah you get the point Just few examples: "hey let's create a stealth sniper elite....with an elite that removes the only counterplay to stealth, I am sure nothing will go wrong...just finished playing Sniper Elite 4 cool"

At the same time you can pack enough punch to rip a hole through everything if you know what to dodge ofc and not just randomly use that rush. -Full counter gives back 3 condis every 12s CD plus an evade and 100% "block"-Berseker stance-Feather grace-Shake it off And you still have "Signet of stamina" and "Mending"/ "Natural Healing" or go crazy with "Defiant Stance", if everything fail ( dunno how ) you can learn to CC/lock necros and & with hammer-mace/shield....what more do you want? And...better stability?..Are you kidding me? Warrior is the only class with pulsing stability as utility Balanced Stance, then you have "Dolyak signet", "Stomp" and then you have the best transform in the game : "rampage" and you want more?....maybe you want to play ele and have a single utility to have stability..... You unlock it when you finally realize that you can't have a single build to rule them all, simply because the class is called "Warrior" does not mean that you can rush face down everything, learn to change utilities/traits based on the encounter, less time spent assuming you can faceroll the whole world with a single build Yeah, I'm not sure which specs you are referring to. There's pretty much only two viable specs for PvP if you want to deal any damage and not be a glass cannon, core with greatsword and axe+shield or spellbreaker with greatsword and dagger+shield. Bunker specs are laughable compared to other classes. In regards to utilities there's not much one can do with the slots. Bull's Charge is something warrior mobility is balanced around and it would be impossible to catch up to people kiting you without it. Shake it Off is a very good condition clear and stunbreak, something that is needed every team fight. The last non-elite utility slot could be up in the air, but one slot means you can't take every stance. Hammer and mace is not doing any meaningful damage, you'd not contribute much to killing enemies running that. The conundrum of playing a warrior is that you have to go face to deal damage (rifle and bow is laughable) but at the same time can't stay in melee range for long. I'm not joking, guides to and for warrior PvP tells you to dodge into melee and minimize physical contact. It's a strange playstyle to dodge, chain defensive/evasive abilities, and move out of range for a class with the class fantasy of someone sticking to the face, up close to the enemy, and more fitting for class fantasies of nimble classes like thief or ranger. Chaining stuns with hammer/mace or taking more defensive abilities doesn't change the playstyle if you want to survive. Either way, warriors having issues with the actual playstyle vs class fantasy doesn't negate that pets are overtuned, CC isn't fun, and that condition spam is frustrating. I state that warrior doesnt feel like a warrior anymore for the exact reasons u state. Being a melee centric spec as warrior is they cant take much pressure from the current classes in close combat and are forced to dodge,kite and try for a predictive cc-burst rotation. Only the team at anet could make a warrior balanced to having to resort to that type of playstyle. I don't understand really....I play against wars when using other classes and I use warrior against all other classes and the only specs I can't outmelee are top revs and wars..but again I don't full understand what exactly you mean , do you like expect warrior to be some sort of tank with mobility doing burst dmg at melee range?....... Yeah yet it's rare I'm out melee'd by a war these days unless I make some pretty serious mistakes. Usually it's by a zerk axe axe war doing his spin to win while I'm cc'd cuz I messed up otherwise wars are so easy to predict their usually food. I've fought some very high sustain wars since patch but unlike other high sustain builds it actually doesn't do enough dps to have kill potential The lack of burst dmg in return for sustain is something "almost" all professions pay, all the outliers like : prot holo, core ranger pets , core necro and some FB variant will be brought in line soon. For the rest it's 50/50 based on personal skill and I call that balanced. Some extreme like condi mirage or any other condi bunker, I can outlast/kill using some high resistance uptime spellbreaker but mostly it's not worth your time because these builds lacks chasing potential and you can leave them behind at your leisure (in wvw) or just stall/kill them on point in pvp where you hope/ask for a +1. As all other classes, warrior got some useless traits and weapons but for me the class remains quite balanced at equal skill level where the fight can end both ways Keep doin u man I'm not argue further, games poor balance isn't worth the time to do so. U and i obviously view $hit very differently.Unfortunate..but I will stick to my guns, I mean what I say, the class is balanced in my opinion, it's in a so called "safe spot" no immediate attention required instead they are few buffs aligned...you will agree with me in few patch times when outliners will be brought in line

I can have resisstance for days, and Full Counter returns 3 Condis and so on, and so on. I can play less careless, and use Rush and Dodge better. You're right about that too. In fact, your right about everything you point out. You just forgot one small thing... No where in my post do I say, that I want "this" or "that", or want one build to rule them all. All I wrote was thoughts and ideas. That's it. I even started with letting everyone know, I actually feel Warrior is pretty nice as it is. So because you somehow failed to get that from my post, your reply falls short. Sorry. Do you realize it's never about you have something or no, every class can have a tons of everything if speced for it,you say necro has no mobility? wurm, spectral walk and sands well.you say thief isnt tanky? shadow art, acrobatics, daredevili can play the list game with you, if that's all your knowledge about pvp.problem is what you giving up,and clearly warrior is way below the scale right now compared to other classes. Lol thief isnt tanky no matter the traitline taken. How did you unlock it? You unlock it when you finally realize that you can't have a single build to rule them all, simply because the class is called "Warrior" does not mean that you can rush face down everything, learn to change utilities/traits based on the encounter, less time spent assuming you can faceroll the whole world with a single build Yeah, I'm not sure which specs you are referring to. There's pretty much only two viable specs for PvP if you want to deal any damage and not be a glass cannon, core with greatsword and axe+shield or spellbreaker with greatsword and dagger+shield. Bunker specs are laughable compared to other classes. In regards to utilities there's not much one can do with the slots. Bull's Charge is something warrior mobility is balanced around and it would be impossible to catch up to people kiting you without it. Shake it Off is a very good condition clear and stunbreak, something that is needed every team fight. The last non-elite utility slot could be up in the air, but one slot means you can't take every stance. Hammer and mace is not doing any meaningful damage, you'd not contribute much to killing enemies running that. The conundrum of playing a warrior is that you have to go face to deal damage (rifle and bow is laughable) but at the same time can't stay in melee range for long. I'm not joking, guides to and for warrior PvP tells you to dodge into melee and minimize physical contact. It's a strange playstyle to dodge, chain defensive/evasive abilities, and move out of range for a class with the class fantasy of someone sticking to the face, up close to the enemy, and more fitting for class fantasies of nimble classes like thief or ranger. Chaining stuns with hammer/mace or taking more defensive abilities doesn't change the playstyle if you want to survive. Either way, warriors having issues with the actual playstyle vs class fantasy doesn't negate that pets are overtuned, CC isn't fun, and that condition spam is frustrating. Bull's charge is there as set up for burst specs, warrior has plenty of mobility even without it and that's really a fact, it's not about playing meme builds...I am talking about effective builds that work in soloq scenarios against different opponents, it also depends on the expectations on the player because I mean..with some specs I 1v1, with others I +1 and with others you support. Some specs being overtuned atm doesn't take away from the quality of the class atm, the profession is on the right track

There are some outliers as I have said again but..they don't offer the same type of extensive gameplay like war and I am expecting quite few nerfs going their directions soon...bide your time and stay low....
