  1. Are ANet oblivious to the fact that lack of vertical progression is one of the reasons the current customer-base came to this game rather than to others? They're risking undermining one of the key selling points that brought people to them in the first place. I'm so disappointed to see ANet moving towards a business model of 'downgrading previous gear' when an expac is launched. I thought we could rely on ANet not to do things like that. That sort of thing is meme-worthy underhand MMO dev behavior: https://youtu.be/W_MKjaxRtE8
  2. I legit just finished my full set of 7 Legendary Runes a few DAYS before this announcement came out đŸ¤Ļ‍♂ī¸ (yeah, yeah... sucks to be me. I know) But it's not like I got years of benefit from these things before they got gutted. When I think about the time and mats I poured into making them... <sigh>. It's just depressing. I'm struggling to see what 'compensation' Anet can give that will offset the loss of the QoL benefit I was after, which was the whole point of making these things. The point was to be able to change a build in seconds while standing in the Aerodrome. So now I'll have to craft a full set of new relics to complete a build (or make a full set of legendary relics to replace the same QoL capability I have now). I've been through rough changes with GW2 before, but this one feels different. Probably because this balance patch has been rough and it landed so close to the announced (controversial) changes that SOTO will bring . It's a LOT all at once. 50% of the friends I play(ed) with left the game after the balance patch dropped. Their beloved professions suddenly play like dirt, so they simply wandered off to play something else. No fuss. No drama. Just gone 😞
  3. Probably just need to wait for a bit. I remember that this exact thing happened with the purchase of EoD Ultimate. The gems arrived a while after everything else. And as I was typing this reply, my Gems just arrived. The gems arrived an hour or two after the purchase of the SOTO expac. Gems must be handled by a different (and slightly slower) process.
  4. Maguuma Pact Operation Portal Device also non-functional now ☚ī¸
  5. <sigh> ANet support directed me this way. Despite me stating my reluctance to post in open forums. This is a request for a fairly minor game improvement. One that most players will probably not understand the need for. Despite the personal nature of this request, ANet support said they couldn't do anything and I needed to submit my request here... so here I am. 😔 Like about 8-12% of genetic males, I have a color vision issue. I can cope with a most in-game content and the in-built Windows 10 color filters can help a bit too. However, there is something I really struggle with... Commander Tags! I've had the commander capability for years, but I rarely use it... When you want to create a squad, you have to select a tag (plain or catmander... I have both) in a particular color. When I go to select one of these, there are no tooltips stating the color you are selecting. As a result, I don't have any clue what color tag I'm picking. On one memorable occasion, I tagged-up for a daily bounty in the Domain of Vabbi. I posted in map-chat "Bounty on white tag" and the immediate response from map chat was "What white tag???" Yes, you've guessed it. I had picked a pink tag but I had not realised. Yay! 😖 The same sort of thing happens if I pick green, orange or yellow; because they're basically interchangeable colors as far as I'm concerned. So I avoid them like the plague! If I have no idea what color commander tag I'm picking, I can't tell anyone what color tag to follow for an event. As a result, I don't tag up much. Even my guild don't understand why I don't tag up. I have >34AP and know a lot about the game, so they really don't understand why I'm so reluctant to tag-up. It's a stupidly simple thing. I don't know what color tag I am!!!! Tooltips stating the commander tag color would be incredibly helpful.
  6. I did a search for this, but nothing came up, so my apologies if this has already been suggested: Please can we have a 'allied' NPC in the Special Forces Training Area? An 'allied' golem perhaps? Testing healing builds and boon application builds is a real pain at the moment. Basically testing anything other than DPS is clunky. You have to get a friend to join you and they've got to be happy to just stand there... for the whole time that you want to practice. Either that or your practice gets cut short when they have to go. It's a real pain for them. Plus, I'd rather not have an audience while I'm trying out new stuff (and probably making cringe-worthy mistakes). If you don't get a friend to help, you can test boon application on yourself. Unfortunately, that's not a very representative test, as boons often have a different duration on the player to their duration on squad members.
  7. What??? THIS is the cause??? I have been disconnected from the Dragonstorm event SO MANY times over the last week. Each time I was 80%-99% of the way through the event. The latest disconnect was the last straw. I decided I had to post something up on the forums, because this is ridiculous! Luckily I check posts first and saw this thread. Then it hit me... every! kitten! time! I've disconnected, it was at that point in the event where you need to use CC to break Braham and Ryland apart. I usually either mount on my bunny OR my turtle for the nice CCs. Until reading this I hadn't realised that every single time I've disconnect it's because I've tried to use my turtle đŸ¤Ļ‍♂ī¸ OMG! Please, please, please fix this. Dragonstorm is a long event to get kicked out of with zero reward... over and over again. One thing's for sure, it'll be a long time before I trust using the turtle again! UPDATE: Attempted Dragonstorm for the 3rd time today. Avoided using the turtle like it had cooties and it all went fine. No disconnect. Not exactly definitive and scientific, but still... it worked for me.
  8. Lounge Pass Tome please!!! I can't buy any more passes if you don't. I'm a incurable completionist and I'd go full pokemon with those things. But each one I have is taking up a valuable shared inv slot. I've reached my "Nope!" point. But if you introduce a Lounge Pass Tome... the gravy train starts moving again! Come on... you know it makes sense... 😁
  9. Yeah. This event just buggy. After a too many "WTF is going on?!" moments, imma return to this event when it's been fixed.
  10. Same. Waypointed out of Gendarran Fields fast after the last crash. Not sure if that'll fix it, but worth a try.
  11. The new Return to Daybreak achievement "Bounty Hunter: Domain of Istan" counted every single bounty kill and it completed after the required 5 kills. But the original Story Journal achievement "Istani Bounty Hunter" says I've only killed Smoldge. Not one of the other named bounties was counted. 🤨
  12. So... just did Casino Blitz in Amnoon. Did all 3 rounds of the coin collecting and went to Amnoon Waypoint to wait for the Pinata to appear. The countdown drops to zero and nobody moves... odd. The pinata doesn't appear... very odd. Nobody is moving... oh no disconnect incoming!!! Choices are A) jump out to character select screen and get back asap, hoping to get back into same instance (v. unlikely), or B) cross fingers and pray. Went with B. The screen finally unfreezes aaaaaand... the pinata event is over. Didn't even get one hit in. FFFFFFF đŸ¤Ŧ!!!!!! You think that's bad? This was the second time this week with the same event! Connectivity hasn't been this bad for ages and suddenly it's so bad it makes you think twice about whether its worth starting events. I mean... right now there's no way I'm attempting Dragon's Stand. Even the Auric Basin meta would be a big risk. Even doing a bit of low risk map completion has been painful. Whatever has changed in the ANet server setup, please track it down, take it outside into the back alley and terminate it. My blood pressure can't handle this.
  13. Agreed. I have several lounge passes in shared inv slots. At a certain point, you realise that you can't afford to lose any more shared inv slots. I mean, I'd like more lounge passes (obsessive completionist), but I won't buy them because I need my shared inv slots much more. If ANet made a Lounge pass 'tome' I'd gladly pay gems for it, to get my shared slots back! And then I'd probably buy the lounge passes I don't have. As things stand.... I'll stick with what I have, thanks. A very minor inconvenience for me, but lost revenue for Anet.
  14. After a tip from a friend, I tried doing the story at a different time of the day. The theory was to do with server load and number of people online. Well I just completed the final story step of Head of the Snake without any issues, but to do it I had to log in and play the story step before work. Every time I waited until the evening to do it, it failed. Not sure this tip will help anyone else, but it worked for me.
  15. Originally posted yesterday (27 June 2021). Reposting here as I didn't realize there was already such a LONG thread on this topic: This has been an problem ever since I started playing GW2. The game has an irritating habit of disconnecting during story steps. It always has. I have tolerated this because I like the game overall. But during this "Living World Return" event, it has come back to haunt me. I've had several story disconnects during this event. Each one requires starting the story step again from the start. Tonight I was attempting to finish the last chapter of 'Head of the Snake' (Confessor's End) and the story disconnected 3 times. Not at the start... no, that would be too easy. - On the first play-through, it happened immediately after the cut-scene after the fight with Caudecus in his library. - On the second play-though, it happened a little later in the first circular room below the manor. - On my third play-through, the story disconnected in the second circular room. I'm not one for rage quiting... but tonight I'll confess that I ground my teeth together, firmly turned the game off and opened up Disney+ to enjoy some random wholesome entertainment. Ah thank goodness for "Let it go!" it dissipated my urge to throw my computer out of the window. Disconnects during story steps has been a problem for many years. I've lost count of how many story steps I've had to replay because of 'technical issues'. No, there's nothing wrong with my internet connection. No, there's nothing wrong with my PC. This is literally the only thing that messes-up. Please... if you're going to encourage your entire customer- base to replay story steps... please fix this! Update: Tried to finish the same story step again tonight. It disconnected immediately after the cut-scene in the library... again. The definition of madness is trying to do the same thing again, and again, and again. But... how else am I supposed to get the "Seasons of the Dragons" achievement done. <sigh>

  17. Agreed! Just finished doing the JP (yet again!) after swearing to never, ever do it again. So... thank you ANet. I did it... again. No... it was NOT fun. No... I did not enjoy doing it AGAIN. I wanted to get the cheevo, so I swallowed that bitter pill and got it over with. Someone should remind ANet that games are supposed to be fun. This JP was always the gaming equivalent of walking on broken glass. I'm pretty good at JPs, to the point that my GW2 friends can't believe I enjoy them so much. But even I loath this particular JP with a passion that would melt mountains and extinguish suns. Forcing players do it again... seriously? Unlike other JPs, there's no sense of joy after finishing it , just relief that it's over. Punishing players is not a great business model.
  18. Legacy of the Llama Locator. Yep, had already completed the original cheevo, so the snooty llamas wouldn't acknowledge my existence. "I made ya famous you ungrateful oversized sheep! You'll regret this! You'll never work in this town again!!!"
  19. Totally agree with the OP.And that notification box has been popping up a LOT lately. Yes, I understand that it's a symptom of an massive underlying problem... BUT why does the notification have to add to the problem! I mean, does it have to be: A. So ####### big and intrusive!B. Right in the middle of the ####### screen!C. Demand a clicked response to make it go the ####### away! In fairness, I have not actually disconnected... so there's that. But at the weekend those notification boxes were coming up almost every 2 minutes, while I was in the middle of a raid boss with guildies. That was not fun! And it wasn't just me. Almost the whole squad were getting them.
  20. By sheer fluke I happened to be playing through the story for the first time on my Scrapper. I'm using an Open World build using the Juggernaut trait so I get permanent Stability using flamethrower. When I read this dialogue I was really surprised and very pleased =) that the NPC acknowledged that I didn't actually need his cache of flamethrowers. I recall another occasion elsewhere in the game (sorry can't remember exactly where) when my Scrapper was required to put down their Flamethrower in order to pick up a 'Flamethrower' to complete a task :/
  21. Yep. Game has been painfully inaccessible for the entire evening. ANet... please get your 'stuff' together. I know it's not my ISP or my router (despite what the frankly insulting default message implies) because my ping and speed are a-okay. My eldest daughter used to play GW2, but moved on to play WoW and ESO. Neither of which seem to have anything like the same issues GW2 has. She thinks it's hilarious and adorable that I persevere with GW2. She gave up on GW2 a looooong time ago. I'm just too old and lazy to learn a new game... but on the bright side, I discovered a new show on Netflix this evening and it's quite good... XD
  22. Oh thank kitten for your post. I thought I was going nuts. Since the update(s) this week I've had two times when I discovered that some of the keybindings weren't working. This has never happened in the game before. The first time, I was at a bounty fight and discovered that my 1-5 keys didn't work, though 6-0 did. I could mouse click on the skills to make them work though, which got me through the fight. I then alt-tabbed to windows and opened Notepad to test the number keys and they all worked fine in Windows. Restarted the game and everything worked again. Today I had a server disconnect during a raid (always FUN), but when I got back into the game, none of the number keys (1 through to 0) worked at all. I had to close and restart the game to get everything working again. Having that straight after a D/C that was just insult to injury
  23. Same. Based in UK but play on US servers. Normally that's no problem, but lately when it gets to about 8pm (BST) the ping suddenly rises from the normal 80-100 to 600-1000 and the game becomes unplayable. I closed the game, cleared the game cache. No change. In one memorable moment, I was trying to complete a heart and the task was to dump cold water on a passed-out drunk. So 'dump water' is skill 1 and I'm pressing 1 and waiting between 15-30 seconds for the game to react. Nope! Time to watch Netflix before I throw the keyboard out of the window!
  24. Yes, that has been my experience too. The game client seems otherwise fine and solid. But going near the Drakar fight is a risky proposition. I have attempted the fight 5 times now, plus several attempts to get back to the fight after a crash. The end result is one of two things: 1) on two occasions I got back to a different instance of the fight because my original one was full, but the fight failed because there weren't enough people; or 2) it crashes immediately or part way through the fight (once when Boss was at 10%!!!). This has been beyond frustrating. It seems to be down to the numbers. If there are enough people present to beat the boss, it also equals enough people to crash the game client. On two occasions the crash was so absolute that I didn't even get that error message box (the one where you can add a note to ANet support). One second the game is running and then it's simply gone... and I'm staring at the desktop thinking WTF??? Until a fix comes out, this boss fight is unplayable for me. Every other aspect of the game is fine. Though I've seen a recent report that Tequatl has also started suffering from the same (or similar) problem. I can't confirm that, as I haven't done Teq since the new content dropped. And I don't fancy trying as I've had enough teeth grinding annoyance for one week thank you. Footnote: I always clear out the game cache after any crash and I have done a clean reinstall of the client too. No change. I also checked the Windows error logs and there was often no log entry to indicate that a problem had occurred. The client crash hadn't even registered.
  25. Same. Multiple DC's yesterday after the update. Today the notable DC's were: 1) half-way through the metal concert in Gronthmar Valley... no loot. 2) half-way through 'Mad King Says' so once again... no loot. Putting in the effort only to crash out with no reward is not fun. Gonna go play something else until this is fixed.
