  1. First decide what game mode, then try to theory craft (play around with it) yourself by READING you skills and traits, try to look for synergy between everything and all of this depends if you either want to do Power or Condition Damage (the two sources of damage on the game) ...basically just learn the basics of the class. Then you can utilize sites like metabattle.com and watch youtube vids on what you wanna know. Also the wiki is your best friend.
  2. I don't agree with your first line, the fact that staff's projectile is homing; meaning it tracks the target makes up greatly for the slowness, and i don't think the making staff 3 do burning or confusion makes sense really since 1 and ambush already does burning and there is already a torch phantasm that does both of those conditions anyway, the vulnerability is enough pressure also considering you're running dueling so they even do a good amount of bleeding. Post PoF staff ambush actually did confusion along with torment but that was changed like a month later considering it was probably way too strong.
  3. In pvp and wvw staff is trash but in pve staff is great, best suited for solo open world, nonetheless i love staff (on mirage that is)
  4. So true. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. It's a shame they lost against them and Team USA. I was confident both NA teams were gonna beat them
  5. Quite unfortunate for you but thats just kinda closed-box kinda thinking imo and if you notice almost every elite spec has some sort of unique profession aura, if anything i would try to take great advantage of them. I think aura is minimal anyways, just don't merge while out of combat and when merged in combat it doesn't even matter cause alot of visual effects/ skill animations/ just everything basically will just look out-shadow it and will look like a visual mess. I sort of have the same problem with mesmer and the mirage dodge animation but i love it so much i try to make a look based off it.
  6. Did you base it off the condi chrono build on snowcrows? I play it and know my around it, but its not every situation that i use it Yes. I really like that build but i dont make it cause confusion doesnt do damage per second. well...mobs or whatever have to attack either way and when they do...KABOOM
  7. I think mesmer has too many viable traitlines for condi builds in a way that it can be overwhelming to find the "perfect build" the same goes for power but i think its more obvious for condi:Chaos:- Chaotic transference, perfect for a rabid or TB build. Chaotic persistence, a maximum of 24% condi duration. Bountiful Disillusionment, mainly the 150 extra condi dmg from F1 Illusions:- Cry of pain, no need to explain? The pledge, also obvious. Compounding Power, a max of 10% dmg and a juicy 150 condi damage. Maim the Disillusioned, also obvious Dueling:- So this whole traitline is really good BUT its just too universal in that it synergizes really well with illusions, and is used in like every power/condi mesmer build;Critical Infusion, enough to you make you have perma vigor in combat which equals to a juicy 150 condi damage also (and when i say condi builds i mean presumably using the mirage traitline ofc cause its obvously the best condi dmg spec for mes) Duelist's Discipline and Sharper Images, massive bleeding damage. Blinding Dissipation and Ineptitude, great confusion application (even more if you're using illusions! ) So basically all of this is if you're using mirage as i previously stated, and then you wonder what are the best traitlines i can choose best condi damage output and best synergy. The most synergizing condi build i have found for mesmer though is condi chrono where almost every trait and weapon skill combination goes extremely well together :) Here it is if you don't know it: https://snowcrows.com/raids/builds/mesmer/chronomancer/condition/ and btw this mostly pve theory.

  9. I think im happy with viper, i've learned how to survive in it while still doing leggy bounties in pof groups and from arcdps im usually in the top4 for dps with a staff.Another benefit is that i can just equip axe/torch+pistol and change a couple of traits and boom, its a fractal dps build (which i have no idea how to play btw..) The sigils i run are condi dmg, expertise. My utils are oasis heal, jaunt and the last one i always switch up depending what im doing. Its either a portal or reflect dome in most cases.I run malice+energy regen sigils on weps and i can spam ambush quite a lot, sometimes even add the heal for good measure lol Im undecided on the food though, do i buff my crit for sharper images or do i improve condi damage instead ? Out of 5 other characters i have, this is probably my favorite one as far as ranged OW playstyle goes. I tried power tempest and weaver and while aoe is big, i just dont find it that enjoyable and i feel way squishier with all zerk/assassin gear and 11k hp.Soulbeast, power specced is just...boring, you just use ult, sic em, maul, #5, maul, switch to axes or LB and repeat.Necro reaper is also boring, gravedigger goes whirrrrl.Guardian, i have firebrand and its...ok, it just feels like im playing a psuedo elementalist but wearing heavy armor and all i do is burn and bleed.I also have a condi renegade with shortbow and i love how simple it is to play and all the aoe options, its probably my second favorite after this mirage. Great, everything sounds good, I personally have a habit of not using food but i found food that can be useful; https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Orrian_Truffle_and_Meat_Stew and then this also for a little more precision and condi damage https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Saffron_Stuffed_Mushroom
  10. do mean power core mesmer in pve is trash? or in general mesmer, cause if so power chrono has the highest single target dps benchmark rn btw its golem benchmark assuming you have perma slow, realistically 0,1% people would be able to pull it off if less, and even if any CC/mechanic forces you to dodge during F4 you fall and are even with other dps classes.I know but does all of that mean power mesmers are "absolute garbage" as what he said? that was the point i was making
  11. yeah exactly what she said ^^^
  12. i actually find protected phantasms very usefeul when i'm running persistence of memory on chrono :/

  14. Oh and i also think viper would be always have an edge over rabid is because its not like you get 100% crit chance anyways using rabid, its a really chaotic/rng type of thing either way all considering the trait sharper images, so decent precision + great expertise >>> good precision + no expertise
  15. The reason your Rabid build did so much worse is because Rabid's schtick is to leverage Sharper Images via high Precision, (shifting a huge chunk of your damage into Bleed) and you were using Undead Runes with that instead of Krait (to max that Bleed leverage). Comparing fully ascended gear (Rabid + Krait, Viper + Nightmare, Trailblazer + Nightmare) the dps differences narrow considerably. Rabid + Krait will be within 1kdps of Trailblazer + Nightmare, and Trailblazer will be within 500dps of Viper + Nightmare. Training golem w/self buffs only. The reason to run Rabid is for a cheaper alternative to Trailblazer. The reason to run Viper is for an easy transition into the Axe Mirage raid build. But for open world, Trailblazer (if you can afford it) is the absolute best, and I would strongly encourage you to make a set if that's your focus. You will lose ~3% dps using Trailblazer instead of Viper (an absolutely trivial amount), and in exchange you will gain a nearly 40% increase to your HP (going from just shy of 16k to just over 22k) and will also gain almost 1200 Toughness. You will become almost completely unkillable in any situation. You will do Viper damage, and be considerably more survivable than even Rabid, and the list of things you will be able to solo will start to veer into the absurd.boss fiI don't think TB is best unless you're soloing some kind of high tier boss fights on the REGULAR, you will eventually get tired of TB such at the fact that nothing can really get you below 75% easily, you also get tired of it cause you're just invincible to to anything open world and compared to viper, you take a noticeably longer time to kill trash mobs or whatever. And also, no matter your stats, you being able to solo hard bosses comes down to knowing the mechanics/attacks of the boss, so you can still get rolled over using TB.
  16. Rabid, viper and trailblazer are all great to use, but its really hard to come to which is best if you're using the staff/staff build cause if you're rabid or trailblazer, you're gonna kinda wanna synergize with chaotic trasnsference but at the same you're only using staff anyway so you're gonna also want to use chaotic dampening...with the problem being those 2 traits are in the same trait tier, so i just run with viper so i can easily choose chaotic dampening cause i have no toughness. Expertise is really with this build so it can boil down more between viper and TB. Now, the big differences are that the precision from viper is definitely a great bonus considering you're using sharper images, the power on the other hand is useless for the build. So trailblazer now has all stats being useful but it can be hard choosing between chaotic transference and dampening but also, the precision from viper gives it an edge over TB. Rabid is good but i would say TB is better because power damage isn't the only form of damage in the game...you're still susceptible to condis. So at the end of the day viper is what i personally chose (after swapping between it and TB a few times) with nightmare runes, malice sigil, and all expertise infusions, midnight sigil so i basically have 97% condi duration and 100% in combat because of chaotic persistence. The might stacking from ambush 1 and vigor giving 150 condi dmg PLUS the condi dmg from Bountiful Disillusionment will give you like way over 300+ more condi dmg in combat; enough to stack staff ambushes like crazy. For utilities i recommend running mirage heal, midnight sigil, illusionary ambush, blink and jaunt ofc. Oh and energy sigils ofc :)
  17. 35 keys and no dreamwalker glider....will it be available soon to buy directly with another curreny?? cause i'm really mad
  18. What the hell are these stories man, i just hate every bit of stories in this game. I found 2 people doing the Heart of the Volcano,in the middle of it i dc, then realize i can't re enter the instance we were in...ok fine....i do it solo, i'm at the last part where you need to defeat the hounds....i start lagging alot, i relog...then it brings me to a whole new instance, i say F that i'm gonna try to get help. I get help, then at same last part with the hounds, i die, no "retry from checkpoint" option, the person asks me if i have a revive orb (which i didn't) person then leaves without me getting chance to answer him...i rarely put myself through this story shit, its just because i decided i would craft aurora or i would have said fuck this long time ago. I just hate these crazy stories, I was even confident in reloging cause i remembered disconnecting in a lws2 story, but i was able to return right where i left off. I know I haven't even reached the hard part of aurora and i'm so already annoyed. I muted the game because of annoying it was to hear all that damn dialogue that you cant even just skip. I'm not even gonna talk about the dumb fancy flying achievement. I'm there ranting in my guild chat and no one offered to help which is completely understandable....
  19. As long as you fell in love with the aesthetics of it, ofc its okay for you, no matter how complex ...every class has some complexity to it anyways. period. :)
  20. Scepter 3 hits up to 5 enemies, and every staff skill like 3-5 targets except staff 3
