  1. Do you have examples? I mean, in my opinions most Gen 1 legendaries are still de best designed and best looking legendaries in the game. Also the effects are absolutely fine in my eyes. I personally use the howler on my druid. Flames of War and HMS Divinity never were popular legendaries to begin with. Even when they were released they weren't popular. HMS Divinity has been seen as a joke weapon every since and Flames of War... it was a joke ever since. With that said, Gen 2 legendaries are more rare anyways for some reasons. Main reason is that Gen 2 weapons are much more expensive than Gen 1 or Gen 3 ones. Crafting a Gen 2 weapon costs about 2,300 gold. Gen 1 and 3 weapons cost about 1,300 gold. When crafting a Gen 2 legendary, you have to pay 1,000 gold extra. Another reason is that Gen 1 and 3 legendaries can be bought in TP while Gen 2 can not. If you have enough money, your cans imply buy the legy you want, one click done. But if you want a Gen 2 legy, you have to craft them on your own, farm HoT metas for materials, to the exploration and so on. No matter how much gold you have, these steps are necessary. Conclusion: Buying a gen 1 or 3 legy is faster and cheaper than crafting any gen 2 one. It's only natural that this makes gen 2 legendaries less popular in general.
  2. Why whould it be "horrible"? For those classes/specs without boon strip the enemy would just be a bit stronger. Even if you gave open world mobs 25 might, quickness and protection they won't be "horrible" to fight against. Just a little bit harder. Trash mobs would still be trash mobs in the end. And stronger mobs such as champions and legendary ones usually are not fought alone. But classes/specs with boon strip on the other hand would get actual useful skills. Making several skills/traits useful vs. having to hit a mob with one or two more hits to kill it. I think that's not horrible at all.
  3. What I would like is if they gave them more boons. Except from a few mobs all boon corruption skills are useless in open world. It's not NCsoft's choice though. It's Anet's. Aside from a very few exceptions (like the canceled project + layoffs) NCsoft does not interfere in Anet's business. Anet does it's thing independetly and NCsoft grabs some of their money, that's how their general connection is. NCsoft does not controll the balancing or such ingame choices.
  4. I personally can't remember this being a thing that actively got removed. What I remember was that mobs ran out of AoEs. This got removes eventually to gain a better combat flow. As for your question, I don't think it will help much. Only blocking and dodging would cause them to live longer and well, look and griffons and harpy mobs. They are hated for doing dodges. The only thing that helps agains power creep is more HP. I mean, Mobs in GW1 aren't that intelligent. You can even stop them from doing anything entirely just by spamming AoE fields. They are so busy moving out of them that they won't attack anymore. Aside from that, yes some areas actually require you to play against different tactics/builds, which is simply how the combat works. Use the wrong build/team and you have hard times, use the right build and team and you cut through everything like butter while being afk. But that haven't really much to do with intelligent mobs.
  5. Because the PvE one is locked behind Raids, which is played by so few players that Anet had to stop working on them. In other words the large majority of PvE players had no access to PvE legy armor. As for legy rings, probably it's because it's 1 ring vs. a whole armor set. The armor set gets the higher priority. I think it's likely that we get another ring option with the next expansion. Maybe also more options for other trinkets.
  6. Getting rewards for content is not "getting forced to do them".
  7. I do, but EoD for example has a collection per elite spec where you need to buy ascended trinkets (with new stats available). Other players do that collections because they needed new stat trinkets anyways, but for me there is no reason. Getting 2 AP is not really a reward for the costs/work behind it. Unlocking new stats would have been a motivation to do at least one of them though. I mean, you need 250 currencies. That's 2 meta events. That's not much.
  8. Exactly my thought. Once you have legendaries it's cool to swap stats etc. as you like, but whenever new content comes out, there are a bunch of stuff you just skip, because the reward are gear with new stats or such. In other words by crafting legendary items, you take yourself away future rewards. Ofcourse it's a matter of taste and many people are happy about the convinience, no question. I personally am at a point where I want to do extra stuff, but the reward should be there. I think having this change only at relics is fine (so far). This way even with legendary gear we have something to earn, still have the same benefits after unlocking a relic effect and we won't end up being forces to grind too much gear (relics, stats, runes, sigils) after an expansion release.
  9. Usually one per char per build. With some people having 60+ that can easily become a few hundred relics. Plus all those you just want to try out ofcourse. Which is also per char as relics are soul bound.
  10. It would, but new stats etc. have to be available for non legy users as well and I think it only makes sense to require at least a bit of work to get them. I mean, it's the same question for all legendary items. You only use a handful of stats, runes and sigils. So the question "do I need a legendary" is not limited to the new legy relic and it's way to get new effects. It affects all legies. Nobody says that new relic effects will be better than old ones and you have to replace them. Look at stats, Berzerker is in the game since release and still meta for power builds. Condi builds only really became a thing after viper stats came into the game. Same for Harrier and healer roles. Other niches like boon dps also developed with release of good fitting stats. Same for runes and sigils. And even for relics it's the same. Core relics are the way to go for 99% of all builds. Well, that's a matter of opinion I think. However, when looking at Soto relics for Anet they (unlocking them) indeed seem to be rewards. Many of them already are locked behind achievements. With that said, like with all gear, there are always options. Most meta relics are part of the core set and even if we get new ones later (just like stats, runes etc.) they will always be there and not getting worse only because a better fitting option exists.
  11. I see that some people use the word "grind" for everything that requires a bit more work. I see what you mean. But the question is, is this good or bad? I mean, if you want to play certain builds (like meta builds) you will only want certain relics, like 3 or 4. Not all 150. If you want other relics, you can just get them. You don't need to get all 150. If you don't like the content or don't find people, it's like any other reward in the end. If you want Obsidian weapons, but don't like PvP/WvW, you either have to play it anyway or have to accept that you won't get that reward. My personal experience with EoD (as someone with full legy gear) was, that anything in terms of gear was boring, because I had access to everythign immediately after release. I saw my friends doing this and that event and stuff for collections, but I just had no reason to do them. Getting an advance for great work (like a legendary) is good, but missing content because you already have the rewards is kind of a let down.
  12. Doing one meta event including 5 events is no grind... At this point it's kinda funny how easy people in GW2 call something a grind. It only shows how grindless the game is in general. I'll give you a free one. Relic of Nourys requires doing10 Convergences. For GW2 measures that could be seen as somewhat a grind. With that it's 1 relic you have to "grind". Not a huge number.
  13. I mean... there is a definition of "grind". That's not a matter of opinions. Just google it.
  14. What was your last sentence again, Mr. Clown? Oh right: Seems like you can't get enough from me, huh? Am I so important for you? 😉 However, You don't come up with any arguments, so I will ignore the remaining nonesense of your text Mr. Clown.
  15. I mean, all achievements and collections are designed that way. Their design is totally fine, but they don't work if already have the reward. Look at core and Soto relics. For how many do you have to grind actually? I count 0. Unlockind new gear such as stats, runes and sigils were always part of new expansions. Doing the same with relics is nothing new, nor is it "grind". The descision to not unlock all relic effects on release for legy owner might be a matter of taste, but for me personally it's a good descision. This way you won't skip content, just because you already got the reward because of a design descision made 11 years ago.
  16. I could ask you the same. I brought several arguments why Anet is not all about making money and why gameplay decisions such as relic effects have nothing to do with money making. What arguments came from you? Nothing, just some really weird claims. Here my top 3: "Elite specs can be bought in gem store" "GW2 is all about making money" "GW2 is freemium"
  17. Absolutely true. However, one also have to keep in mind that a game studio has different departments. The ones in charge of making the money does not necessarily interact with those leading the game's direction or those who are in charge for specific ingame stuff (such as rune/relics). How close they are connected depends on the game, in p2w games for example the money making part has a greater impact on gameplay stuff. In GW2 we saw such impact at build/equipment templates. But aside from that we see it only in gemshop actually. Tldr: Gameplay descisions are not automatically money driven. Things like specific rune effects are not really connected to the money making part and "give me back that item, I am your costumer and paid money" is no valid argument. "I want my golem back" is a valid desire though. 🙂
  18. If it makes you happy, keep thinking that. 😉 Okay, apparently you have absolutely no idea what freemium means... Would you like to explain what you think freemium stands for and how it is related to GW2? This way we can isolate the misunderstanding.
  19. The world isn't either black or white dude. There is more than either charity or all about money... 1) Only the base game is f2p, that kind of "free demo" is normal for non f2p games. 2) The most profitable ones are freemium and p2w games, not truly f2p games. Big difference. I suggest you to google it. It's like saying all musicians only exist to make money and all artists only exists to make money. Believe it or not, when it comes to art making money is not the only thing that's important. You can easily see if a game is only about making money by it's monetization model and design. Take Genshin Impact for example, the whole game -> characters, artifacts, weapons, even leveling is designed make people spend money. Everything and everything's little brother are Fomo. If GW2 "only exists to make money", Anet wouldn't have choosen a monetization model that limits themself so heavily only to give players as much financially freedom as possible. No, it's not "that simple". 🙂
  20. Support Chrono is very alive dude. It even has it's unique status by being the only espect that is able to provide both Quickness and Alacrity. . That's again what players did, not Anet. You can still play pure support or pure heal builds without problem. In WvW it's even preferred. Look at Druid again -> you can either choose the alacrity grandmaster trait, the condi dmg one or the third option which increases your healing. Examples? You always claim things but barely bring up actual examples. Nobody denys that power creep exists, but that's not even the point. The point is your baseless claim which says "power creep mainly exists because Anet gave support options to all classes. As you provided no single argument for that claim I see it as what i said before -> pure nonesense. Power creep has nothing to do with the topic and you know that. And yet you tried to abuse it as an argument. Original Druid gave a dmg boost buff. It was changed to might later. As for upkeeping, keeping up 100% alac is as easy as keeping up 25 might back in the days. It's extremely easy to hit duration cap while doing normal healing in CA. You don't need to follow a "strict rotation" to reach that... And pet swap for boons has never been necessary for Druid, so what's even your point? Why do you start arguing with completely unrelated things?... And what's that unique niche? Spamming Barrier? That's still what Heal Scourge does, dude. They just made it more viable so it's useful in more situations than Boneskinner. Transfusion trait is absolutely fine, stop being so overdramatic... And Shade spaming even has nothing to do with alac changes. lol. You are really grasping straws... Sure, not all quickness/alac implementations are perfect (yet), but what exactly does that have to do with your original claim that said -> "anet changed specs to force quick or alac into them". You now even agree with me that Anet did not change Berseker at all to implement quickness. You refuted your own claim. Alac Tempest ist totally fine and Firebrand not being the golden child anymore is good as well. And read properly. Thanks. 🤦‍♂️
  21. Wow, that's the biggest nonesense I heared in a while. Well, except your claim about Elite Specs being available in gemshop. 🤡 Haven't you read what I wrote before about monetization? You argue it's about money, because they put especs into expansion. If you read what I wrote before, then you would have known that not even their expansions are about money. If they were, Anet had choosen a different monetization model such as subscriptions or freemium, like most other MMOs. Please, read properly. I don't want to repeat myself again.
  22. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store#Upgrades They are not... Or do you consider the Aviator Quaggan Mail Carrier an Elite Specialization? 😉
