  1. Why do you think DHs use Hammer and Traps? Because the dumb Spear pull strategy is so easily countered that it's a joke and absolutely not the thing you need to avoid. The point of DH Hammer is Hammer 5 Teleport and then start dropping traps which you can't get away from. The only counter to that would be reaction and if you have two evades, you can maybe survive the burst. It's not impossible to survive it but I can see why people will yell OP. But your entire spiel about DH F1 is what I was highlighting.
  2. Yes this. If the point was the unreactable damage, then the windup made no sense. If the point was the instant CC, then removing damage made no sense. Doing both is doubly harsh on a skill with such a long cooldown. (Like since when is 20s excusable as a "short cooldown Revenant skill it's OP" anymore) Another classic case of Anet overnerfing and not compensating. I think the very least Anet can do to help staff is make Mender's Rebuke (Skill 2) an AoE Cleave that leaves a Light Field. Then you can blast it with Skill 4 for additional Condi Cleanse. Additionally, revert 1 portion of the double nerf to SotM: Either remove delay or restore damage in competitive. I'm more partial to removing delay because it hurts PvE as well.
  3. Basically their balance philosophy for the game in general. Half the stuff they add to classes are pointless and the nerfs they dish out are meant to send the players scrambling to find a new build and then the same song and dance repeats.
  4. All the Rev and Thief players can probably back me up on this: The moment you put skills/utilities behind a resource cost to balance, you're gonna have a really really bad time. The only way to balance in the eyes of the devs will go from nerfing the skill to nerfing the cost then forgetting to compensate the skill. Anything remotely sensitive is definitely gonna get hit with a resource cost increase. You will regret ever letting this concept see the light of day.
  5. It's meant to Heighten your focus, duh. In all honesty, it's likely meant to be a buff to the skill for buff's sake, not necessarily meaning anything much. The fact it has a 12s ICD means it still retains the same reason why Heightened Focus was never really picked. It's just not that great of a trait to pick over Axe Mastery and Burst Mastery. I can definitely see more use out of it now than ever because at least in Competitive, one may find the use of resetting their Burst skills to finish someone off.
  6. My only wish is Deadly Aim be changed to a ricochet with every critical strike from Pistols. 100% Crit Unload would become so fun.
  7. MMR is in Strength because it is a traitline that revolves around Might, not because it's a "defensive trait" That's why I think Bursts should end up in Discipline as a traitline that revolves around benefiting Bursts. Let me turn this back on you then: Ask yourself if Stalwart Focus really belongs in Discipline especially when it's sitting in the same tier as Warrior's Sprint and Crackshot. And the even more sore point is how it has 0 interaction with Bursts, Adrenaline or Weapon Swapping. It's literally something that probably belongs in Tactics.
  8. I still think Conjure should be a Core mechanic and not a utility slot skill. You can have your Attunes f1 f2 f3 f4 and then f5 will summon your Conjured weapon based on the Element you're in, with its cooldown and its duration. You use an Espec and have a new Conjure which is unique to the Espec and not based on Element. I know, I know, Ele mains may think it's robbing them of skills, but let's be real, none of you guys actually slot a Conjure besides FGS and besides, having FGS in the pocket while having access to another Elite isn't a bad deal either right?
  9. Current DE is really just a skill 2 spammer it's hilarious how people think they're still a threat. Just get on them and they panic dodge, Kneel 4 4 and run run run run. Like I mentioned earlier, if you burn everything to chase a DE, you got baited and deserve to get put down. I don't miss old DE one bit but man is it hilarious to think current DE is "OP"
  10. Sure, in exchange remove Blind from Shadowshot and Black Powder. Thanks. If the goal is to lessen the reason to use D/P and open up more options, this change wouldn't be bad, yes?
  11. All things considered, the Burst traits should really belong in Discipline. Still wondering why there's a Healing Effectiveness trait in Discipline and why Crack Shot hasn't been moved to Arms yet as a minor. Am I wrong? Say even if you don't wanna run Discipline, if Crackshot was moved to Arms, it serves Gunflame builds better.
  12. The only point of Staff is the Block cancelling into Evade and Condi Cleanse these days. If there were a better condi cleansing option, staff would be yeeted out the window with disgust. Revenants are just so starved to Condi Cleanse that they need to lean on Staff ever so often it's honestly a little sad to think about.
  13. They just dogpile and let the hivemind take over. Not sure if new or just a zealot but alot of MAG players who go down in a skirmish don't even care about using their skill 2 or 3. It's mashing 1 and doing as much damage as possible before dying.
  14. Hate is a strong work. I prefer the term "Ranger dislike"
  15. I heard people talking about how Mesmer Rifle should shoot clones that superman fly into people for damage and I want that over this stupid portal gun.
  16. Lol wack. Can this just be given to Chaos Storm? Should be a trait ngl. Wack. Kinda like it though. Like inverse Plague, and makes one dude just die from kitten. Surely useable in WvW when someone pours Boiling Oil.
  17. Would like another Revenant staff topic because I feel that despite the new toys every Spec is allowed access to now with SOTO, staff still feels like it could use some love, especially with a new support weapon soon joining our lineup along with an improved Shield (trust me I'm stifling a chuckle mentioning shield) Which direction would you encourage staff to improve? Defensive, supportive and utility focused? Combat focused but more on the defensive side? And as an addon for Combat focus: Power or Condition? To kick it off, I think it'd be nice to have some clunk for Staff ironed out first: Staff 2 Mender's Rebuke still has a very inconsistent hit registration when casting it while moving. Staff 5 SotM is honestly the most clunkiest of clunk and the pause they introduced should be removed in all honesty. I would like to see Staff be brought more toward a Defensive Utility weapon with an improved version of its current kit. I feel like the one thing it should focus on is the application of Weakness via skills 2 and skill 5, and having skill 2 be made an AoE cleave skill instead of the current "I pound infront of me small AoE". Weakness can also be introduced into its AA Chain into chain 2. Skill 4 could be made to heal more for each Condition removed.
  18. I've fought plenty of unnerfed WvW Deadeyes back from before the balance nerfs and before Binding Shadow was nerfed. I know my kitten when fighting one, especially because I play Revenant and Reaper, Thief's two favourite prey. They've had their teeth pulled out so hard they hardly even stand in the shadow of the Deadeyes of old. The only DEs I see these days never roam alone, they do it as a group and the book it the moment they get focused, which is fine for their design.
  19. Definitely knowledge gap and skill issue. Trust me, keep playing the game and take note of how DEs play, and even better yet, play DE yourself. You'll realise how much of a joke DE is against any player worth their salt. They're so weak now that all they can really do is run and force you to burn all your resources to chase them. If you do that, you just got baited.
  20. I like dual swords and among all the classes that can dual swords, Revenant is probably my favourite. Warrior's is alright but it doesn't give off much of a skirmisher vibe, more like a kind of mobile and agile fighter who cuts you all over. Mesmer swords are just eh... They definitely give off the whole magic-swordsman vibe and as much as I like battlemages and magic swordsman, the gameplay flow is terrible with Mesmer swords because of how clunky 3 > 3 feels and 2 rooting you on the spot. Virtuoso improves on this significantly but offhand sword still has a really awkward hitbox for skill 5 that I dread using.
  21. I'm all for QoL which Engi and Ele did receive one being able to hold onto a 2nd weapon set and swap them out of combat to save inventory space but give them an inch and they go for a mile. Imagine being a Warrior and refusing to use Burst and demand Anet give you a third weapon swap because you refuse to use Burst.
  22. Untrue. People have been clearing Raids and Strikes, even CM Strikes with core professions. It's doable, but that's not what most people care about unless it's just for fun. The main reason people don't really wanna play Core is more or less a lack of skill expression. Elite specs offer alot more playstyle nuances like new mechanics, or altered mechanics. It changes up the identity of the class often times and that's always more fun than just using your core class capabilities. More trait options and more ways to play will always be a thing Espec dangles over Core class as a juicy carrot to entice going for an Espec build.
  23. I assume you flipped Facet Elite. Yes, Facet Elite flipping and not casting the skill counts as casting an Elite for the purpose of proccing Relics. It was also this way when Elite activation effects were part of Rune system. So in short: you cast an Elite, the Relic goes into a 30s cooldown. That's all you really need to care about.
