  1. What you seem to fail to understand is, that everything mentioned above often isn't enough. Countless players talked about voice organized runs where they had good dps, managed all the cc phases well and did everything as it should be done but failed anyway, because the boss decided to swoop around like crazy. The meta doesn't just require "big brains and optimized builds", but also luck. You got lucky. Besides: we already have difficult content in Guild Wars 2. Raids. Challenge Modes. There's a place and a time for everything.
  2. Yet even that amount of preparation often isn't enough. The German community has been organizing the DE meta at least once a day for the last couple of days - explaining everything on voice, getting a map an hour early to stack up damage buff, making subgroups, etc. The whole shenanigans. Today they had enough players to do two maps - one of them succeded with 2 minutes left on the timer, the other failed. Second map had good dps, got all cc phases, split evenly on bosses, didn't waste any time, etc. Finished second boss phase with ~5-6 minutes left, which should've been enough to get the remaining 20% down, but couldn't because she decided to switch sides like crazy. Other map had like 2 side switches, while we had 8 or 9 in the last 5 minutes alone. If this amount of coordination and preparation isn't enough, I don't know what else to do. Hope for better luck maybe.
  3. Sadly, for a lot of them anything that's not an empty open field is a bad map. I agree. Having four distinct maps with their own specific flavours would be great and it would add a little bit of variety to WvW, although it's clearly time for an overhaul of the Alpine and EBG map.
  4. I feel the same; was hoping for something a bit more dark and sinister; something that atcually looks like a dragon, not a butterfly I can squash with my foot :/ Guess we'll just have to wait for the next round of mount skins. I just hope we'll get some mount selection licenses for it.
  5. 216 vs 259 Yeah sure, overwhelming majority won the poll. Incredible results. Landslide. Wew On a serious note, the fewer skyscale owners, the fewer future skin purchases, the less money anet makes. But I guess they are not worried about that and I'm wrong, so they will continue with silent treatment. I think it's important to keep in mind that the main argument for voting no seems to be something along the lines of 'I had to do it, so everybody else has to do it too!' - at least that's my impression after skimming through the thread. Not to forget, not everybody comes to the official forums and these forums are split in English, French and German. What I really don't understand is why Vision only requires another 100 map currencies each. Sure, you need to do the Skyscale collections to get it but why not simply switch it around? Make the Skyscale require 100 and Vision 150 map currencies. Or 125 each. After all Vision is actually a legendary item, which the skyscale is clearly not. As mentioned by Urgi, drastically limiting the number of players who acquire the skyscale, also limits the potential profit ArenaNet could make - which doesn't make any sense at all.
  6. Didn't bother doing Aurora because I didn't like the visual effects on it, so I was kinda hoping for something completely different this time. Too bad :/ At least I won't have to grind my brains out - again ^^
  7. The point is a lot of people were expecting the skyscale acquisition to be in line with the roller beetle collections and I'd argue rightfully so as it was the only precedent for a PvE mount being added to the game.I see a lot of people justifying the insance amount of materials required with the skyscale supposedly being a legendary mount - which is simply not true. At no point was it advertised as such and as was pointed out numerous times in other threads, it is basically useless compared to our other mounts. Personally I don't mind the timegates as a lot of it can be bypassed with gold and having to wait for daily reset is a mere minor annoyance. There's no way around having to grind a stack of each map currency, though and I think it's a bit of a stretch calling this grind "playing the game". Sure, the maps are more populated now but how long is that going to last? Requiring 250 of each map currency is simply lazy and bad design. Either the usefulness of the skyscale needs to be improved significantly or the requirements need to be lowered.
  8. Let me start by thanking you for a wonderful Living World episode - love the story and the new map; especially the inclusion of older mastery systems and the throwbacks for GW1 players. :)That being said, I feel like a lot of your hard and great work is tarnished by the Skyscale fiasco. My question: How do you justify the excessive amount of materials required for the saddle collection compared to the requirements for the roller beetle acquisition? You got it first.
  9. Of course it should be reduced by at least half. The collections required are already extensive and adding hours of grind to it is simply sadistic overkill.
  10. I used the free one for the Ley Line Anomaly in Vabbi as I didn't want to wait for the event. Goemm's Lab aside, most of the required JPs don't require any difficult jumps at all and I urge people to simply give them a try. Especially one's like Rebel's Seclusion are ridiculously easy. Just because they're called JPs, doesn't mean they're as sadistic and hard as Chalice of Tears or the like.
  11. Except it's not - at least to my knowledge it wasn't promoted as such. Besides, apples and oranges ... It would be much more accurate to compare the skyscale to the roller beetle, as both are mounts added in a Living World update and are the unique selling point of their respective episodes. Comparing the skyscale with Aurora doesn't make any sense at all.
  12. I think what frustrates people the most is that they expected collections similiar to the ones for acquiring the roller beetle; and why wouldn't they? Both were added in a Living World update and both are PvE mounts. The beetle was the only precedent we had for a PvE mount being added to the game with an LW update and ArenaNet should've seen the backlash coming. Personally I didn't mind the timegates that much; at first I was a bit confused after having finished the first collections and then having nothing happen ... no hint whatsoever as to what I had to do next - the timegate for the Wayfarer's Henge collection was pretty clear as hearts can only be completed once a day and everyone knew that - so better communication there would've been nice. Sure, having to wait for daily reset is a bit annoying but that's all it is. 22 charged quartz crystals on top were a bit of an overkill, but since the food and grow lamp can be bought on the trading post, I don't have an issue with them. I just finished the JP collection and I really did enjoy those as it gave me a reason to revisit old JPs; wish ArenaNet would implement more of them.I honestly can't sympathize with people being upset about this part of the collection, as most of the required JPs aren't even 'real' jumping puzzles (Fawcett's Bounty, Buried Archives, Rebel's Seclusion - I'm looking at you!) and can be done in a matter of 2-5 minutes tops, not requiring any difficult jumps at all. Not to forget one can simply take a mesmer portal or use a teleport to a friend (lame!). What really does upset me though is the saddle collection. On top of everything we had to do to get there, we're expected to grind our brains out for a stack of each LW season 4 map item. To quote Dessa:"Now that's just excessive." These requirements really dampened my excitement for the new map and I haven't been back since I finished the collections there, which is sad because at first I really really liked it. The implementation of all the 'old' mastery systems, the different biomes, the shadow army, the improved Dragon's Stand-style meta event, the dialogues between Rytlock, Logan and Gwen ...Dragonfall is an awesome map - I'd argue the best Living World map so far! - and it's all tarnished by this stupid grindy collection ... I'll very likely end up doing the saddle collection anyway as I've already come this far but I probably won't enjoy it as I absolutely loathe repetitive tasks. If your goal is to get more people into older maps, put more fun, interesting and rewarding content in there. Having us grind that much will populate the maps for a short time, but people will be fed up quickly and in the long run they'll actively shun those maps. If it were up to me, I'd keep the timegates as they are, improve the communication in game and cut down on the required items for the saddle collection. Cheers.
  13. Thank you. I agree. Enabling toxic behaviour shouldn't be allowed.
  14. Add an option to mark crafting recipes as favourites and only show these. It's a nuisance to scroll through dozens of recipes until one gets to the daily ones.
  15. I'm not sure if this still works, but I believe you can simply take the airship to the desert, skip the cutscene and then leave the instance by leaving the instance area. For example glide off the air ship towards the ocean into the red restricted area. That should kick you out and get you directly to Amnoon.
  16. Not an item specific problem, so I'm note sure whether this is the right thread for it ... Race: SylvariGender: MaleClass: Necro My character seems to be leaning towards the left a bit. It's barely noticable, but still very irritating. This is not part of his idle animation, as I jumped right before I took the screenshot. A more severe instance happens at times when I dismount - the whole upper body is contorted towards the left. Mounting and dismounting usually fixes it. I'll try to get a screenshot tomorrow. https://imgur.com/a/wCRpJ (Or I'm just going crazy ... :D )
