    I don't know about GW2, but in class 3 slot machines, the prize is determined before the reels begin to spin. This is so that if something happens to the power, the result isn't lost.

    To be honest, I wouldn't mind if they got rid of them. Too many people don't (or won't) understand how to get them cheap and I'm tired of hearing whine about how much they cost. Also I have THOUSANDS of them that I'll never use. If Anet got rid of them, I wouldn't mind.

    The point is, you don't have to use gold. I have never bought a transmutation charge and I have THOUSANDS of them. Converting gold to gems is the most expensive and time consuming way to get transmutation charges.

    It does not cost 150 gems to get 5 transmutation charges. It only costs that much in the gem store. I have thousands of charges from WvW and PvP. They were all free. By ignoring these options you are distorting the cost of gems. Your argument is dishonest.
