  1. Citation for what? Just look at the world map. There's no way the area would have died out on its own unless desertification was already happening. I do believe that the fight between the gods would have accelerated this instead of creating it.
  2. This is an exception. The average person spends about eight hours a week gaming.
  3. Experienced players know this. That's my entire point. We should never take what experienced players know as the standard, you should take the new player who knows next to nothing since those are the ones that need to be attracted. And this is still only a workaround to a bad system. No other content in the game requires that you have a personal crafter on your account to progress the content. If I need gear then in every other case I can go to the RP to get it, except in the case of Fractals where I for some reason need to make the gear myself. That step needs to be eliminated so that progress in this system becomes similar to that of progress in every other system.
  4. It's pretty objective. The AR system when seen in the context of everything else is bad since it's per character value despite pretty much everything else major being per account. And you can only do those things because the Vault offers a temporary solution that can still only affect one build per character. If you have a power, or a condi, or healing build then they need different sets of Ascended gear and thus also different sets of AR since changing on the fly is impossible. If you had Legendary armor then you would experience for yourself how broken the AR system is since it becomes so much easier to handle since you only need one set of AR.
  5. And if you've chosen the incorrect crafting for this? Remember that the new and common player has no idea that a resource such as a GW2 fast crafting guide exists.
  6. Raising the land would be even worse as it would lead to catastrophic geological changes. There would have been massive earthquakes in the entire region, I even use that as a point, and the climate would have changed as the winds would have been redirected by the raised landmass. It's a trope in fantasy to have land raised without there being any consequences, that's insanely ignorant. Raising landmass, especially from the sea, has HUGE geological consequences, and Tyria despite being made from magic essence, does run on real physics, just look at the damage from Orr being risen from the bottom of the sea. It inflicted massive amounts of damage even all the way down to Cantha. You go into the salinity of the soil and then use "barren desert" as an argument when there are lush areas right next to the desert WITHIN THE DESERT WHERE THE SEA WOULD HAVE BEEN. The prime example of this is the gorge that's probably below the sea level of Amnoon that's lush. The objective facts are impossible to align with the subjective records as the physics are plain impossible and the physics have been confirmed to be real. The Deldrimor Dwarves would have made records of this since the amount of massive earthquakes would have inflicted massive damage on their city. It would have been a pivotal point in their history that would be remembered forever as it would also affect the design of the buildings. It would be akin to the Japanese socio-cultural environment being completely unaffected by the earthquakes and tsunamis the country experiences and have experiences in the past that have had a huge effect on the direction of the society.
  7. Except the right conditions never existed here.
  8. Categorical error. Just because something works in no way means that it works well. You should always keep the two separate. And there are only really ways now with SotO and the Wizard's Vault as I think that Ascended gear is available regardless of what version of the game you have. One of my initial arguments where that if you had no access to those things then they're impossible to get. You're making the mistake of making yourself the standard of what others should have/be able to. If I did that only around 8 million of the human population would be normal if I took my standard as being the average. And just because you never met one has no impact on their existence. Your experience is a self-selecting bias. And I know a t least one. I in no way see them as the norm and I know they exist.
  9. The human gods have hyped themselves up to be immeasurably strong and I doubt that. The reason I doubt it is one of the stories they have that show them as immensely powerful. The burning of the Crystal Sea into the Crystal Desert when they fought Abbadon. This course of events is plain impossible if they hold themselves on the near power level of the Elder Dragons. - The Elon River is supposedly the remains of the Crystal Sea and that's connected to the Unending Ocean meaning that if the gods had burned away the sea there the ground would had been below water level and water from the Unending Ocean would have covered the ground again. - Tyria is a globe, evidenced by the day/night cycle being somewhat equal in Cantha which is only possible if Cantha is on the equator. - The only way this could be true was if the battle of the gods had burned away roughly five meters of the global water level else the vacuum created in Elona when the sea evaporated would have been filled by the rest of the ocean and I think someone would have noticed if their coastline suddenly moved. Continuous burning would have required a lot of energy. Just look at all the water in the Unending Ocean and that's only 1/4th of the total landmass. - And if no one else had noted it Isgarren would have and he only got really wary of the gods after the Elona Fractal. - If they had been able to expand that kind of power then defeating the Elder Dragons would have been a cakewalk. - The Dwarved never noted anything that can be chalked down to isolationism. - The other option is that the gods raised the landmass from under the sea, which would have created massive earthquakes and the Dwarves would most definitely note that down as it would be near cataclysmic. - Then there's the soil itself. If it had been uncovered from the sea then the saline levels would have been insane, and the game have confirmed via fishing that the Unending Ocean and every connected body is saltwater. - I've no doubt that the battle between the gods inflicted enormous damage on the Crystal Desert when they fought and it was nowhere near the cataclysmic levels that Kormir describes. - What the gods did have was a goddess who could manifest a fake reality in peoples' heads and one who could create natural "leftovers" from such an event. Lyssa made people believe it happened and Dwayna created bones that could be seen as evidence, long-lasting bones that would last until disposed of. The thing that went wrong was that in Desert Highland they were never disposed of. There's no other reason that magical protection would conserve the bones over centuries in an area where they were subject to heavy exposure. They would have eroded to dust by the time we came around. - For what reason would they do this? It would create an image of never pissing off the gods. It would be invaluable PR as it would really hype them up. Then there's also Balthazar himself - The gods were pure energy as evidenced by Balthazar's end. He never died we just weakened him enough that Kralk could absorb him. - There's also the way he phrased things. He absorbed the Bloodstone to restore his power instead of only restoring some of it, and there are ways to further replenish magic, Zhaitan employed it. What if the power level of Balthazar when we fought him was roughly the power level of the gods when they were on Tyria and disconnected from the Mist?
  10. The same as it is now. It was a nightmare to get Agony Resistance, especially if you wanted it on multiple builds. And I remember it being even harder due to the difficulty of obtaining Agony Resistance slots. Nothing has changed in that regard except for the availability of AR slots. And we have the reality we have now. Comparing it to the reality that was is...quite silly. Analogy. Would you ever accept an argument about the speed of cars by using the early development as a standard?
  11. So, before they became an organised thing. While comparing something to how it was in the past is a natural thing for humans it's also a fallacious process. Everything in the past is by default okay or better because it was in the past. In the specific moment we tend to focus on the negative as an evolutionary trait since by doing that there's a higher chance we survive. It's a leftover from a time when the negative reactions to things could easily be the difference between life and death. Over time we forget the negative and only remember the positive, this is in pop culture called "nostalgia goggles" and is in the subfield of psychology called psychological phenomenology how we remember things habitually. This ensures continuity of kind and reverence to the past so we avoid the chaos of a completely unpredictable future, again a thing from the evolutionary process and a leftover from the time were we lived in small tribes as it helped maintain group cohesion, and we are social animals after all.
  12. You do need a special key to open it in the form of the Mastery. The good thing is that they key is permanent once you acquire the key.
  13. Eod Strikes never had an option for Summoning Stones for Shards, they were a reward for CM. Summoning Stones are also tied to the EoD expansion so, it makes no sense they would drop from SotO Strikes. And the gold for the EoD strikes were in the weeklies with nothing in the dailies. What you experience is that SotO only have two Strikes of two gold each and EoD have four at two gold each.
  14. I really just want one further instability removed from this Fractal. And that's Outflanked. His Frightening Speed attack coinciding with Dread Visage requires some people to simultaneously look at him and look away from him, which triggers the increased damage, and looking at him triggers the fear. In addition, the ranged attacks from the aspects become really unpleasant and much harder to deal with with the Outflanked in effect.
  15. Ascended gear is mandatory for Fractal progression. If something is mandatory then there must be an easy way to access it. Making it more difficult to get a mandatory item will just make people less likely to even do the content. And I would like more people instead of fewer doing the Fractals. Okay, on one side there are people wanting to make more gold, on the other side there are people who just want to enjoy the game they (likely) paid money for. There's no equivalency in the sides here, just one that's clearly inferior to the other when taken in context with my other statement.
  16. Every three months with the old log-in system Per month: 20 Mystic Coins 35 Laurels 9 Tomes of Knowledge 4 Celebration Boosters + chaff that has low impact on the game. Every month either +20 Tomes of Knowledge, Ascended materials, 20 Laurels, seven Mystic Clovers Per three months 60 Mystic Coins 105 Laurels 27 Tomes of Knowledge 12 Celebration Posters Either +60 Tomes of Knowledge, Ascended materials, +60 Laurels, 21 mystic Clovers The Wizard's Vault will be replenished every three months so, total values only 55 Mystic Coins 150 Laurels 35 Tomes of Knowledge 20 Mystic Clovers - chaff Som on the face of it it does give less than the old system. Except with the weekly rewards over three months, you get 120 Laurels 12 Tomes of Knowledge 12 Celebration Boosters. The real difference is that you have to work more for these things and they're available, in the case of Mystic Coins, easier available to more people. When it comes to gold the daily only gives 1, so over a period of 30 days 90 gold. When it comes to the old system it gave 180 gold. Except, now you can get 90 gold from the Wizard's Vaults, so, that's the same, and being able to frontload is better for practical use. And you can sell the Black Lion Mastery Coffer for 1 gold each, so, that's an additional 20 gold.
  17. I just found the statue of Dhuum that's mentioned as missing in a Path of Fire achievement for The Desolation chilling in Isgarren's private collection. That level of attention to detail is nothing short of commendable since it only makes sense to someone who has PoF and has read the achievements, for everyone else, it's just a part of the set-dressing.
  18. Cool beans. I do like the new system even if the current choice is far from what people are used to. Change is inevitable and so is most freaking out hard due to changes. Our psychological phenomenology informs us that we like things we're used to and everything we're unused to provokes visceral reactions in people.
  19. With the t6 effect being its own slot now there are several runes that are 100% identical to other runes. An example is the Rune of the Scholar and the Rune of the Trapper are identical in everything save the name. And there are many other instances of this.
  20. Disregard the first half of the title. I found out that it had been moved to the Faction Provisioner of the relevant Bastion.
  21. The Essence of Strength is neither on Lyhr nor the Faction Provisioner. Combat Mounting is currently disabled with being unable to mount while in combat
  22. In my last post, I talked about how there should be a toggle for Leyline riding. Now I want to expand on it. Make it a toggle for both Leyline riding and using Updrafts and make both the Griffon and Skyscale have one. In addition to meeting myself across the map in the wrong direction when accidentally hooking a Leyline, I know also have to deal with that I can "branch" myself when flying since hitting an Updraft makes me lose forward momentum. And on a griffon that feels really bad.
  23. Is it in any way possible to do this achievement currently? And if so, what am I missing? The story directs me towards talking to the wizards and then straight to the Tower. And the icon for the current story step I'm on displays as green and I get no option to replay them for achievements.
  24. Are you talking about the lack of a Hero's Choice chest? Unfortunately, none of us knows the full rewards yet since there's a blasted chest in there that requires the Mastery for Greater Chests >.< I would like to ask who thought this was a great idea.
