Bladesword Gunsaber's skin to change with legendary greatswords

I would like to see an option to change the skins on the Gunsaber open to legendary weapons; Exordium, Sunrise, Twilight, Eternity.

This would allow players who have invested into or going to invest into these weapons change the skin of the Gunsaber.

Yes I understand that this would require modifications to be done to the legendary greatswords to become the Gunsaber, a thinner blade and a gun would need to be added to the model.
This would then at least provide the player with some customisation to the Gunsaber (being that this will become the primary weapon of the spec).

What are your thoughts?

I don't want them to spend resources on this, tbh.

Legendary weapons don't change the looks of other elite spec mechanics. Photon forge, celestial avatars, reaper's shroud/harbingers shroud, firebrand tomes.... All this stuff doesn't change visuals if you equip a legendary weapon.

Gunsaber is mechanically basically the same like these mechanics. There is no need to give warrior special treatment. All these other elite specs have to live with a fixed look for their mechanics, the same should apply to warrior.

All of these added extra to the class while still allowing simular play, weapon swap was still there for Guardian, Necromancer and Ranger, so they could access both main weapons and second weapons while being in control how either looked. Engineer gained access to a new set of skills ontop of their current while still maintaining kits.

Being that this sword is the main weapon of the specialisation then without question there should be customisation. I would only limit the customisation to legendary greatswords to limit the reasources required to add into the game, the effects are all there from the glow to the footfalls and aura. Realisticlly all they would need to do is change the handguard, cannon and hilt and add a glow to the blade depending on the legendary weapon used.

If this weapon was a time gated weapon, I would agree regarding the skin, but its not. It is the main weapon of the specialisation as Anet seems to be pushing out but because they couldnt give warrior Greatsword again, they gave it pistol as almost in their eyes 'the mechanic weapon' while the actual weapon is the unskinnable gunsabre. The current skin has a less than desireable look to it with the bulky blocky handguard plastered with two koi to symbolise flow and green colouring.

Mechanic wise, the weapon appears to do really well and fills the role of greatsword 2.0 rather well, however its looks, are something left wanting.

Just on a side note, I noticed in every single post you've made you have an anti-warrior agenda if it has anything that looks like its come from engineer, Like when i predicted from day 1 that the bomb/vial icon was necro's and the engineer was the golem. Which then comes to this topic, do you not want warrior to get to reskin its mechanic that is its main weapon, because its borrowing from engineer?

Engineer is using kits as their main weapons for years already. Guess what, you can't customize these kits in appearance at all. Not a single one of them.

And we managed to survive that. I would argue that we are spending more time in kits than the new bladesworn will spend in their gunsaber.

So again, there is no need to give warrior special treatment. Other classes managed to live with class mechanics which limit their ability to customize visually. You will survive that, too. Bladesworn already looks like it got a bigger portion of the development time invested, I don't want them to spend additional resources just because warriors want to feel special and get more stuff than other classes with similar mechanic...

About your side note: how is it borrowing from engineer? We can't customize our kits either, period. You want special treatment here, that's the matter... and I don't have an anti-warrior agenda, even said that the warrior elite spec so far is the one which interested the most from the ones we have seen so far. I like the bladesworn and the gunsaber.

I wanted the flask icon because of 2 main reasons: I want a condi spec for engi (which the flask indicated, unlike the golem icon) and I don't want a pet spec for engineer (which the golems might be). Feels kinda bad that necromancer now takes the alchemy title away from engineer, but whatever, I can live with it.

I disagree with the assertion that Engis will end up spending more time in kits than Bladesworn will spend in Gun Saber. I’d bet that 2/3 of the time the Bladesworn will be in Gun Saber, as that is how BS will access its burst (and associated traits). Kits are utilities, Gun Saber is the defining mechanic of Bladesworn.

My friend, the usual playstyle for engineer is that you use like 2 skills from your actual weapon (like rifle 3 and 5 directly after each other), then rotate through your kits once again.

Engineers spend like 80-90% in their kits. You actually never use auto attacks from your weapon, since kit auto attacks all outperform the weapon autos.

There is a very good reason not to do this - if you  wield the gun saber along with an actual greatsword, you wont visually change weapons when you swap between the two.

But you would,
"Yes I understand that this would require modifications to be done to the legendary greatswords to become the Gunsaber, a thinner blade and a gun would need to be added to the model."
In other words a new skin crafted in the style of the gunsabre but using effects and parts from the legendary Greatsword. I'm not suggesting using say sunrise in its current form as the sabre that wouldnt work, the blade would need to be thinner, shorter and have the gunbarrels attached.

There should be some room for customization but not changing entire gunsaber model.

A seperate menu to customize gunsaber related stuff.

these are imo needed

2 slots for changing runes

2 or 3 slots for changing the colours of it

wanna make things interesting?

add two silders,

first slider adjusts flow spending bullet loading time but also increases and decrases the damage of dragon trigger skills

second slider trades range distance of all f1 and f2 skills with their damage output. (current settings is same the max melee for this slider.)
