Why Aren't There Teleport Scrolls to the New Zones as with previous New Expansoin Zones?

Recommended Posts

I only have 5 characters, I am a casual, I play maybe an hour or two a day.  There is no way I am going to have the time, energy or desire to play through that long slow plod (22 hours for me) of the story for the rest of my characters.  In all previous expansions only the first one or two story missions was required.

What is the deal here, do you intend to discourage having multiple characters now?  So If i want to add a specialization to more than one character I have to redo that 22 hour story for the mastery points and the zone access where the rest of the mastery points are?

You should have gotten a portal scroll when you entered Arborstone.

When your first character gets to Arborstone they get a scroll which can be used by any character to teleport there. If you're in a guild which has claimed the new guild hall you can also go from there to Seitung Province. Once you're in any of the new maps you can get to all of them because they all join up.

You can also just do the first part of the story to get to Seitung, then go to the other maps from there, you don't have to complete it to have access to all of them.

They only give portal scrolls to new season maps. Not new expansion maps. We didn't get a portal scroll in PoF the base expansion or HoT. But we did for the season stuff. Arborstone is the odd duck out.

Still does one have to complete the full story to access the new specializations?

If you own the previous expansions, there are plenty of hero points in those to finish all three specializations, so you won't ever have to set foot in Cantha if you don't want to.

The story has nothing to do with specializations. The only thing related to specializations and story completion is the collection for a unique ascended weapon per class (but can be done even on characters of that class that haven't put any points into the newest specialization).

There's no unlock requirements for the specialisations, all you need is 250 hero points and hero points are interchangeable, so ones from previous expansions and the core game can be used to unlock the new elite specs. (You can also use testimonies of heroics in WvW if you don't want to do the hero challenges. There are different versions for the different expansions, but again the points from them can be used for any elite spec so you don't need to use the EoD ones.)

There are NPCs dotted around the maps who will tell you about the new elite specs but that's just for info via an in-game source, to add a bit of lore and for players who want a way for their character to know about it, there's no requirement that you talk to them.

(I did make my ranger wait until she'd spent some time in Echovald talking to various people about it's unique magic and met the untamed NPC before equipping the elite spec, but that was purely my choice. Sometime, probably this weekend, I'm going to get the bladesworn spec on my warrior and he will just buy points from WvW and equip it without ever going near anything Eod related.)

It’s about 10 hours if you do solely the story. You do not need to do the full story to access all of the maps on all characters.

Mastery points are account bound. If you’re referring to hero points these there’s more than enough available outside of the expansion to unlock the elite specializations. That said, every character has the ability to access every map using the same means as in other expansions.
