Why not healing turret?

Coming back from quite a long break. When I played healing turret was everywhere, and it was super fun to use the fields + shield in. But it seems now everyone takes Elixer H, I get the synergy with the elixer line just curious why the hard swap off? Dug through a few patches and saw a CD increase on heal turret, but is that the only difference or is there something else im missing. 

 

Thanks ahead of time for any insight, just trying to catch back up =D

yea its mainly the cd increase that throws ppl off (atleast in spvp) 

Elixir H is just better when running alchemy with cd reductions and the boons it provide.

the holo heal got fixed up together with tools traitline so that heal is actually viable. (mostly due to its toolbelt skill being good now)

Medkit is actually rly good aswell for low cd heal and utility

and obligatory mention of the meme heal AED which is surprsingly effective when u time it right 😄

 

healing turret is still good tho, we just have viable healing skills to choose from to fit our own playstyle now instead of being hardlocked to use best in slot with turret 🙂

You can thanks to Holosmith for Heal Turret nerf.

 

Two jumps (Holomode - 2 + Sword 3 or Rifle 5) and Two-Three blast finishers (Holo 5 + Turret itself or Holo 5 + Turret itself + Shield 4) even more on Protect Holo so they hit that skill so hard for the rest of specs without any retributrion.

Ya that was me lol roaming prot holo with P/S and blasting the crap outta 2 water fields on heal turret. Was so much fun to have that comboing/variation in the heal. 

 

Tried a bit with med kit last night and love it,  all I was really hurting from lack of turret was the extra cleanse. With the amount of condi roaming I def felt it, but think med kit fixed that now. Surefire everyone's time and info!  I tried to search forums for atopic on it,  but it was all "turret reworks" in general.

Most new players don't remember the days of combos. The WvW commander calling out "BIG WATER!" or "STACK FIRE!" or something equally silly, and everyone would drop their fields and pray to their ISPs that they registered a blast on time.

HT was nice for squeezing a bit of extra stealth out of Sneak Gyro too, but we can't even have that any more

To be fair, the point was made that it was mostly improvements to the toolbelt skill that were making holo heal more viable. Elixir H toolbelt isn't bad, but if what your build really needs is more condition management, it won't help there.

Well, Coolant Blast does actually offer some neat stuff, it might be a bit more tricky to use at it's full capacity, but it can be quite decent, especially with the Enhanced Capacity trait. The chill can be used to make enemy's rotation harder, the frost aura is a nice damage reduction, with extra chill, and the blast finisher is also a nice touch for both defensive and offensive situations. 

And although Toss Elixir H might seem more appealing than Cauterize at first, if it's paired with Tools trait line and Enchanted Capacity it has potential for 9 condition cleanses with no self burning, which can be life saving.

Med kit exists people. Stop sleeping on it. A decent value heal with 14.5 sec cd when traited, with a pulsing condi cleanse waterfield, a delayed blast finisher with nice boons and a small instant cast heal. You can easily blast/leap finish the waterfield 3 or 4 times if you do it correctly. You can get like 4-6k healing out of that alone, on top of the very short cd heal which allows you to play more aggressively and with less downtime. It's been my favoured heal for over 2 years now. 

When using the medkit toolbelt heal on scrapper you get max duration superspeed btw, as it combines the personal heal and toolbelt heal bonus at the same time.

It got a whopping 50% increase on CD, went from 20 seconds, to 30. That was when people started dropping it, for Elixir H. That was on the 2020feb balance patch. From that patch, to the start of the Masters of the Arena tournament, people were running protholo, which was running Mortar Kit, which has a longer water field, so they didn't even lose the water field combos.

Don't tell them! If it becomes popular anet will nerf it to the ground.
