Thank you for the Thruster Control Unit option!

Thanks so much for listening, ArenaNet!

The Jade Brotherhood Requisitions Specialists in Gyala Delve now offer Thruster Control Units in exchange for Imperial Favors and Research Notes. The collection must be in progress for the item to appear in the vendors' lists. The Thruster Control Unit is required to unlock the siege turtle mount and previously could only be acquired by completing the Kaineng Overlook Strike Mission.

Amen.  I've already been told I'm a wimp for not wanting to do the Strike (thanks, have tried both Strikes and PvP -- hate them.  Hate.  Them.) so am glad this option is here.  It doesn't stop anyone who enjoys doing Strikes from doing them.  Now I can get my Turtle and hopefully the plush skin for it soon.  Thank you for listening, ANet!

I'd also like to say "Thank You" to ArenaNet!  Providing options for players and allowing them to choose how they would like to play is one of the biggest selling points for successful MMOs. Games should enjoyable, not performing tasks you don't like doing, and that can be hard to deliver with a broad playerbase with a variety of tastes.

But if we can have options to do something else in place of doing content we don't find fun, that only helps to broaden your audience.   I've always said one of ANet's greatest strengths is that they'll see their missteps and fix them,. this is just one more example of that.

And we promise, we'll take really, really good care of our turtles.

I already have my turtle so this change doesn't impact me yet I think it's good for those that still plan to get the turtle and refuse or can't do the strike.

What I will say though is the strike isn't bad. When I got EoD at the start of last month, I took part in the Soo-Won meta a couple weeks later and got my egg and read up on what to do to unlock the turtle and saw how you had to do that strike to get that part for it. I figured I would not bother with the mount because of that. I then changed my mind on it after having the egg entice me and decided I'd give the strike a try. I made sure not to buy the stuff you needed to buy with gold just in case the strike turned out to be horrible and I would then just scrap unlocking the mount and wouldn't have really put much into the steps until then.

Well, turns out the strike was fine and nowhere near as bad/frustrating as I was expecting. I joined a pug group someone started for unlocking the turtle with most of the 10 people in it being strike newbies like me and we did it on the second try, with the first try being a reset shortly into it. The mechanics are not difficult and I don't feel you have to be some great player to do it as I'm not a great player, probably merely average, maybe above average.

The biggest negative to it is having the sort of anxiety of not messing up with the numbers mechanic and costing the rest of the players a chance to complete it. This almost happened to me as we were down to 5% and I hadn't noticed I got the first number above my head and I was smashing the boss with the group to get it done when I saw the number above me (this game's visual clutter....) and just got away in time before I took the damage. I'd have felt horrible had I somehow wiped us there being so close to the end, especially since I was so good at paying attention to the number stuff throughout the strike and always got away from everyone.
