Its time to make map waypoints account wide

Notwithstanding this, I wouldn't want to see waypoints be available account wide because it would further de-incentivise exploration, and therefore further reduce population on existing maps. I think Players need the lure of being able to waypoint to anywhere as a reason to explore and unlock waypoints, if they don't want to pay for the unlock packs. With mounts now, it's really not that onerous anyway.

Which means you then have to spend time on your alt, exploring the waypoints, etc. What you are asking is for ANET to help you spend
less time
playing their game, and why would any MMO developer, or any game studio for that matter, want to do that?

Isn’t it contradictory with masteries, Mount, pvp exps? Low level hitting a high end mount exploring faster.

They can sell more exp boosters or some sort.

Not at all, unless the mount was just mailed to you. But first you have to buy the Path of Fire Expansion, then you need a LV 80 character to do some story missions, and then there are mastery points to find and earn, as well as the XP to claim them, etc etc. While mounts do reduce travel time, they are content that was added to the game, which again feeds the machine with player hours spent in game.

If a store reduces their prices by 10%, but sales then go up by 40%, we don't see the reduction in sales price as contradictory to the goal of earning profit.

Not needed. Even if you had the WPs you still needed to do all the other stuff if you wanted 100 percent map completion. And they are the least annoying stuff to get. This would only help people that want to go to maps for different reasons. (Like going with a new char to some worldboss or something like that.)

For that we have mounts to already move faster to the point needed. (You don't need to go for most of the other points as long as they aren't on the way.)Also they are selling those WP unlocks and I doubt they want to stop doing so without a good reason.

Or buy world boss portal device and have it teleport you when the world boss is about to spawn.

to make discovery of waypoints accountwide, they'd have to change a few things because:

1) discovering a waypoint gives character XP, which levels up the character: you'd miss out on the levelup experience because your toon would be 30+ just from waypoint XP, they'd have to remove XP from discovering waypoints.

2) discovering waypoints in core Tyria affects your character map completion toward obtaining gen 1 legendary weapons. they'd add something else to replace the grind for waypoint unlocks

3) people would complain on the forums about letting them take there new character into high level zones where they die too easily. this would needlessly clog up the forums with confused posts, and draining Anet's customer service resources trying to explain things to those confused people. (GW2 is a casual MMO after all, being many peoples' first MMO, so they're not familiar with MMO staples to begin with, and then would be confused as to what is accountwide and what isn't and why there's even a line) granted, people complain about anything because they're people. it's what people do...

4) it would take away programming resources from new content / bug fixes / other QoL changes that they planned.

5) MOST IMPORTANTLY: it would change all the character game save files. anyone who has ever modded Skyrim knows that changes to saved data in the file can break the save file. sometimes that change won't manifest the break for many saves, but when it does manifest, it permanently corrupts the file past repair, and is lost. can't even load the save anymore because it's too corrupted. Anet has said in the past that they won't make changes to save files because of this. they won't make changes to the game that will break those save files. nobody wants to lose hundreds or thousands of hours of character progress because of a corrupted save file, and if it happened en masse, Anet and NC Soft would both be ruined.

Hello. Your friendly neighborhood necromancer here to remind you that this dead horse should be able to rest in piece.

May I suggest to support the game you enjoy playing, and invest in waypoint unlock if it is uncomfortable for you to ride the beetle around the maps to unlock them faster. The saddle do tend to make some butts sore so it’s quite understandable.
