  1. Are the gifts based on account age or character age? Do new characters get the gifts?
  2. Yeah this is the steam community. In a week it will settle down. There are alot of trolls to. It's been clear from the beginning that you can't merge both accounts.
  3. Wow it just took them 5 years to make these changes. But it's just a start because they don't go far enough. People have been complaning about this for 5 years.
  4. The over tuning of mobs in this game is sickening for a new player. I made a new character last night. I had a few tomes of knowledge so used them and got to level 20. So i geared him up in green level 20 gear and started the main story. All was easy 2 hit kills until i had to get in the bandit hideout. These mobs are level 9 and they were 2 or 3 hit killing me. I couldn't heal myself fast enough because of the cooldown timer. In no other mmo with level scaling would this happen. It's just plain stupid how the devs ignore this stuff. I have been playing mmo's since 2001. I have never been more angry at a game like this.
  5. GW2 has stopped being casual friendly since fractals , raids and expansion. The Devs chose to ignore this fact with every update. The steam launch will not go well if they don't do something about it. The game was getting trashed for this on the steam page already. It will be fun to watch though.
  6. The harder content should be the group/raids/dungeon stuff. The story world stuff should be easy enough for everyone to enjoy. But the devs chose to listen to the hardcore player base that live on the forums. These people are in the minority of any modern mmo player base.. This all started with the fractals and expansions. And Arenanet still doesn't see it. If they never offered up the base game as f2p this game would be in a bad place. You play the base game for 80 levels and enjoy it. Then you think the expansions will be the same and they are not.
  7. Yeah try ESO in regular gear instead of legendary. If ESO is so wrong then why is it's player base bigger than GW2. It's a known fact that the people that say ESO is so easy are the same meta type players that are here. They are the reason GW2 is struggling to keep new players. ESO caters to both the casual and meta players. The meta players have the raids and dungeon content. The overland content is for the real TES players that like to quest and explore. The overland content has the meta player complaining that its not catered to them. The meta player get the best gear in the game from the group content. Then they complain that the overland content is to easy.
  8. LOL, Not even surprised that they did this right after launching a new expansion.
  9. ESO got this right. It's to bad that the devs here listened only to the hardcore player base and ignore the casual players. They would have a bigger population if they had. They could fix it if they really wanted too.
  10. It does seem the difficulty has ramped up since game launch. That's because the forum players kept asking for it. The casual title for this game is no longer true. They love to throw it out there when promoting the game. GW2 is not a casual mmo anymore. And they will always tell you its your build that's the problem. Most of the time that's not true. The game scales with you in every zone.
  11. The option to do this does not work for me. Is this a bug? I type the item name in the box but option box stays greyed out.
  12. Does anyone ever run teams for new players looking to get hero points in the expansion zones?
  13. Is it true you will need all the mounts unlocked to travel around the new zones easier?
  14. Yeah, the expansions killed this game for me and many others. When this game launched I swore that this would be my main or only MMO. I got 3 characters to level 80 on the base game maps and had a blast doing it. Now I can't even login because I want my money back on those expansions. And mounts to me in this game were dumb. They were added to please the vocal minority that runs the forums. This game has never needed mounts.
  15. This post hit the nail on the head. And of course, he is going to be told that it's him that sucks playing even though for 80 levels of the base game he was playing fine. Like it was already said many times: it's because the major part of the core game is simply too easy. Nope, it's for people that loved the base game, understood the core mechanics and wanted something new instead of repetitive simplified tutorial-like content they can play at any given moment, because nobody took that core part from them. The best thing to show the attitude of people like you or OP is probably to look for posts of people that tried to help someone complaining about one of PoF storyline bosses. They've included videos, offered multiple ways to EASLY complete the encounter, doing it with undergeared (as in below exotic) characters. From what I remember, the main answer they received boiled down to: "I don't want you to help me, I want it to be easier". And this is what this complaint is: the content isn't exactly too hard, you just don't understand the mechanics of the game. Catering to players like this is the death of the game, which inevitably will still bleed players due to stagnancy like any other mmorpg. You want core content? Then play core content. ...and somehow, in your mind, you managed to convince yourself you don't fit that desciption, right? :D I don't because my post count is lower than yours. It's hilarious that you think it's in any way relevant. And the actual emphasys here was on "who claim to speak for everyone" and "that think they know everything that players want". Yeah, I do because my account was created at the launch of the game. So was mine, not sure what point do you think you have here. In this very thread OP (and you) disagrees with the direction devs went with the game in expansions and tell them to change the game "because it's too hard" (maybe it's time to learn the game's mechanics), how can you pretend you "only agree with others and don't tell devs to change the game to fit what you want"? This is exactly what you're trying to do here. You automatically think your opinion is the one and only correct of actual majority of gw2 playerbase, meanwhile anyone holding a different opinion is just "vocal minority" and "armchair know it all who claim to speak for everyone" -both of which are baseless statements. Somehow you don't see anything ironic in the position you've decided to hold here? No, I said the content difficulty of the expansions does not match the base games 80 levels of gameplay and turns some people off. You can try and twist my words into whatever you want. But what I said is still true. They also I think know they have a problem because they are only doing new accounts with the steam launch. Not once did I say they should change it. I just mentioned what everyone knows is true.

Yeah, I do because my account was created at the launch of the game. And most of my posts are agreeing with posters that feel like I do only. I never tell devs to change the game to fit what I want. I just say how I feel.

  18. This post hit the nail on the head. And of course, he is going to be told that it's him that sucks playing even though for 80 levels of the base game he was playing fine. The expansions have not been made for those players that loved the base game. I knew 10 people that loved this game before the expansions and they all have quit and think the devs are stupid for listening to the armchair know it alls in this community who claim to speak for everyone. And when this game goes to steam it will fail hard too. They are trying to suck in new players to fall for the same thing the OP did. They refuse to balance the mobs in the expansions to match the mobs of the base game. They made the maps in the expansion annoying and hard to get around. No other MMO does this with its maps. The game needs new management to bring back the fun of the launch of the game. But the devs here are more worried about pissing off the armchair forum posters that think they know everything that players want.
  19. Yeah give the vocal minority everything they want and screw everyone else is the GW2 moto.
  20. The only reason a lot of people still play is that they can forget about how bad the game got after HOT.
  21. This 100%The people that really enjoy the game are not posting and crying on the forums. These people got the devs to give them what they want and it's not enough for them. It's like this in every mmo forum now. These are the hardcore players that should be ignored most of the time but devs for some reason think these people speak for everyone.
  22. WOW, you guys wanted the game to be all about gear like Wow and now that the devs caved to your demands you complain about the game is to easy. The player base in this game is what killed it.
