What exactly is the point of 33% damage reduction?
Valisha.8650 replied to Valisha.8650's topic in Thief
I just hope removing ally targeting is technically doable -
Me neither

Let's face it, ally targeting makes as much sense in GW2 as a Yamato-style battleship on modern battlefield. Yes, in theory it has some potential, and every once in a while may come in handy. But in 90% of cases, tis just a stupid gimmick that will be more of an annoyance than any virtue. Sharing shroud health means your ally can take a wall of enemy damage, and make your sustain pay for it. Using skills on an ally in reality translates to accidentally hitting teammates and losing dps. At the very least, give us some trait or setting which switches this frankenstein of a class mechanic off. And in best case scenario, rework Specter towards more AoE-oriented support. Throw some barriers on the wells, buff shroud force multiplier or whatever. Sorry anet, but in reality, unique doesn't inherently mean good.

The dumb mech behavior is honestly a valid complaint. And don't even get me started on necro minions.. -

You should still have more shroud health alone than some classes by default, then. -

What gear had you use in fractals? -
Maybe I am missing an elephant in this room, but to me there seems to be no point in making it 0.69 + 33% damage reduction, instead of (example) 0.89. The amount of damage one can take seems exactly the same with lower number + reduction and a higher number without it, so what is the purpose of complicating things up? 🤔

I would gear a ritualist Specter; https://snowcrows.com/builds/thief/specter/condition-alacrity-spectre A single gear set letting you switch between alac-dps and pure dps just by changing traits - According to snowcrows, you can easily do 30k+ without tryharding on Viper's gear.

GW2's necro is really more of a warlock. Specter seems more necromant-ish than Harbinger.

Too much fluff in the roadmap

I wouldn't call EoD-related living world season a "fluff". -
Death perception; Critical strike chance 10%--->15% Boom, we no longer need sigil of accuracy with eagles rune build.

Nothing like taking an already underplayed e-spec and nerfing it further. That's not even beating a dead horse at this point. It's beating a dead horse's skeleton.

Don't bother, they will keep ruining this game for everyone who isn't firebrand or mechanist.

Lost my desire to keep playing GW2 after this nerf

Fire the balance team (presuming there is any in the first place, which seems somewhat unlikely) -
get lost anet

1.0 Would be the minimum acceptable for PvE. Anything below that is plain and simple incompetence.

The REAL atrocity is the fact we have to live with this dumb change for almost 2 months until next patch.

There should be mech skins in the gem store

A necro minion is necro minion. A mech is a mech. Just because one sucks, doesn't mean the other has to be just as bad.- 29 replies

0,69 is not enough for a low health pool class, who has to share it with a targeted ally and can't hope for necro's 33% damage reduction. Also buff reaper while we are at it, that thing is in a sorry state.

a) Laziness, OR b) Incompetence, OR c) They genuinely try their best, but the game code is such a mess that even a tiny change takes tons of work. Literally no other rational option possible.
