  1. Communication is fast and free in most cases, and would go a long way to backing up Anets ridiculous claim that WvW is a cornerstone of Gw2. I joined this game after launch, around HOT, and walked into the game with the expectation that WvW had died off at launch and was just ignored content. It took years for me to give it a try, because honestly, I had never heard it mentioned by Anet, and really still havent despite getting into WvW and loving it. People see content getting loved by the devs and they try it out, something that probably hasnt happened in GW2 WvW in a very long time. I wonder how many people are in my boat here, who didnt give it a try long enough to find action, and just wrote off the game mode forever. Communication would fix this, at least letting the community know its still active (it really is) and still fun (it is if you dont care about results) Whenever I see a developer with content like this, a mode that works but has been ignored for the games life, I fear a late game change and improvement, as I've seen other games absolutely destroy what was holding the ignored content together all those years. Part of me fears its server community, and the fact that its broken in a manner thats well known by all is the glue holding it all together and any update might turn it into structured PVE dungeons, existing but never played. Personally i want big changes but nothing ive seen shows me the people working on WvW get what makes it fun and know how to improve on that. Given the desert map and EOM content I feel safe in this assumption. I hope im wrong, i hope alliances breathe new life into the game, and they can maybe make boonballs less of a permanent zerg state, and maybe add some fluff content into the existing maps.
  2. What like two or three? Its aged content, they could do a hell of a lot more than just an XP boost. Se what im getting at here? Spice things up a bit maybe?
  3. I wish there was some way players could run supplies, as well as some sort of interactive way to contribute in some manner when the map is dominated. Just something. Also could use maybe WvW world events like in PVE. I dont understand why a large boss never spawns in the world, other than maybe grub when theres a reward event. Focus not really the PVE but having that contested fight thats fun in the WvW environment. More events all around. Theres never a double XP weekend, or special drop items this week in WvW event, just the same contest, same rules, same content, for the last 10 years over and over and over. Its just become such a stale and dry game mode when you look at it like any other form of content that has fun stuff going on all the time. But yeah would be nice for some interactive ways to play the WvW during downtimes on the map, be it empty due to off peak hours, empty due to being camped, or empty due to your server dominating. Games fine when theres active competition, but lacks an overall "we remember this game mode" level of care when it comes to events ect. Plus reward tracks suck and seem designed only for people who might pop into WvW on break from PVE dungeon farming, which doesnt even happen in this game so its a strange system. Why isnt WvW reward track designed for people who play WvW? Why isnt warclaw a reward track? Why isnt there simple reward track options for people who have it all that might want just gold or crafting mats or gems....sure make a gem reward track, IDC if its triple the XP to level and the reward is one gem...people have been doing the same reward tracks for a decade, they got all the set skins lol.
  4. gotta pace yourself, only one petition a day, otherwise people will ignore it, also the forums dead.
  5. turtles are stupid though didn't realize I responded to a petition spam thread so now more will be born. sorry all.
  6. Id rather have a siege mount that can seat 15 with multiple siege item attachment so you can roll around with the boys sieging while you get sieged.
  7. keep in mind MAG can mean the server, but also the guild. Chat isnt as toxic as when leadership of MAG was always on, the guild seems to me just some NPC players who dont chat these days, which is fine, though if leaders are on and trying things can quickly turn into what you would expect in other games sadly. Really even with the elites on being cranky the chat is not bad at all, and almost always in good nature. Mostly the chat is just intel or fawning over some old famous player that never plays anymore. Maguuma is all about the hive mind, which sucks when your new, but super fun once you get how everyone operates. There are WvW guilds who do not operate on elitism on maguuma. Ive had plenty of fun, without a guild, and learning in EBG on the server, just expect when some people are on the game will not feel like GW2 community.. Also biggest gripe of the server, these people have spent WAY too much time with eachother. Its very awkward the way people talk about famous people on the server, who youll likely never see on, and never interact with. A lot of history on that server it seems and its super strange to see everyone talking about people who dont really play much anymore. Take complaints about maguuma with a grain of salt. Once you sort of settle into the servers vibe, and how they work, its an absolutely awesome experience. Just dont swap servers to try to join the MAG guild and be PVP famous, i feel like a lot of people do this, then get pissed at the server, switch to another, and complain. Id rather be on mag and deal with a few cranky and salty elites than be on a server that doesnt bother to try and gives up quick.
  8. oh if your on maguuma hit me up in game, im fairly good at running around, avoiding [MAG] ire, and having a jolly time on EBR. I pretty much just try to pug stuff for fun, no expectations ect.
  9. Hey I was in your shoes last summer when I actually joined WvW, saw people and content, and now primarily play WvW. My advice, queue for Eternal Battle grounds if you are looking for the bigger battles, or one of the off maps if you want to solo roam in the middle. Youl have to learn by doing. Most people have been playing this game mode for years and just have seen it all and know it all and not really into explaining. Also there are very few videos on WvW aside from showing off pushes ect. Good thing with so many people playing but burned out on the game mode, no one really cares if you do something wrong. Simply following the pack, and asking questions in Map chat should be enough to grasp the game mode, its really not that complicated but there are a lot of maps and areas so it can be hard to find people and action if you dont know where to look
  10. Instead of trying to define what an average player is, why not just list common complaints people have with remedies so maybe these average joe's can read about it while at work ect? WvW needs a huge, sticky, etiquette and map guide post. Not just little stuff like resource awareness and "why are you repairing these walls to 100%?" and "how to call out important stuff you see" so someone doesnt drop EWP for two guys and a catapult. Speaking of EWP, a guide to common abbreviations will help massively. There also should be some info on each map, why you join, what happens there, and why its important. This way you can just mail someone a link to the forum post when you see "average players" doing things wrong that you feel should be obvious.
  11. Why cant I sit on a chair? I just want to sit on my chair. Explain to me the situation envisioned involving cosmetic chairs that resulted in them being blocked out of WvW. Also, just give the people their turtles already.
  12. I feel boons would work better if you had diminishing returns. Make them more of a quick buff for a window of opportunity rather than a managed state. Boonstripping hits too few and boons go right back up anyway. Maybe they cant apply boons for a solid 15 sec after? Maybe do it by whoever fits in the circle so blobs can be countered a bit more? There is just too much kitten condi spam. Its both not really fun to use as an attack and less fun to be on the receiving end. Condi is a fun mechanic thats just gotten too out of control and is everywhere all the time now. Its the ground effect condi's that are the problem in WvW. I get it, between siege spam and the ground effect condis every step I take is going to hurt. Is that fun however? Single target skills packing a lot of condi is fine however, just maybe rework all the kitten ground target skills. Again not really a "its too strong" complaint but more of a "isnt there a more fun way to do this in WvW?" question. Condi cleans needs a buff applied that prevents reapplication for a short time. Otherwise whats the point. Foods and banners, all annoying. Could easily be replaced by world buffs. Spend your mountains of <insert currency type here> at the worldbuff NPC, have it be a cumulative contribute. Maybe make dead enemies drop the resource or from capturing. Now its something fun and everyone can contribute. Just make it one, coverall, buff, and make it so you can keep it rolling if everyone is contributing at least. Other than that, getting the "server" balance will likely have the most positive effect on WvW, other than making reward tracks not suck as much. They are not quite yet a year behind on that so maybe they will have some time after?
  13. Its boring. Theyve run out of interesting weapons to add for elite spec's in most cases, and really need to start working in a few new weapon types if they are going to be doing elite spec's as content moving forward (imo) For instance, announcing thief getting shield isnt going to make me want to play a thief, because i will play a thief for stabby and shooty stuff not shield and protect stuff. Giving ele a hammer does not make me interested in the class. That is what happens when you kinda run out of weapons to give to a class.
  14. lol at this fantasy scenario. Why on earth is a causal guild going to sign up for WvW? They wont. People in that casual guild who want WvW will rep a WvW guild for the game mode. Or they can choose no WvW guild and go RNG on server placement every reset. Lets not pretend this system will be anything other than everyone wanting to join the top 3 WvW guilds, which will also have sub guilds probably with all the people wanting to join, like a training or trial guild that will be on another alliance as theyll only want the no-lifer or absolute chads on their main tag. The only thing this should change, is that youll never be stuck with people in WvW for more than one reset.
  15. Simple solution: Make mini's only visible to your own team.
  16. What on earth is this? WvW design fan fiction? Id like to see the WvW game world basically be the Darkfall (original not UW) map There is my input to the fan fiction.
  17. See all of this is why the alliance system should be a benefit for everyone. There should be toxic try hard pvp guilds looking for WvW prestige, it is a draw for a lot of people into that. However, some people want nothing to do with that but still love WvW game mode. The big guild can fill up with like minded people and effectively get a private server to WvW on. The randoms can get onto a pants on head server with three pug alliances ect. The only people who are going to hate this system, are those who are right now on great pvp servers with serious guilds, and cant get into those guilds, but want the rewards that come with it (people carried and wanting it). Everyone here is so focused on the social aspect, which only should be enhanced for most with alliances. No one talking about the technical component, and that is where the problems will be. I can see some alliances getting really serious, and then having some technical issue throw the game for them and that will be what wrecks the WvW. Right now it just looks like over reaction to super specific issues that probably will effect a handful of people. Im more worried that their beta was more a pre-alpha, and had to be rightfully tossed back into the oven.
  18. Without a commander tag to head to, I wouldnt have lasted past my first week unlocking warclaw in this game mode. Its "difficult" for someone new to the mode to know where to go, what to do, and how it all works. People forget what its like to be new to the mode, its not well explained, and not knowing where to go and what to do means LOTS of roamers ganking....which gets old when your lost and just trying to find stuff you can do. I dont think many new players are going to enjoy this game mode without a commander guide, unless they really are wanting to get into it. I literally hopped in just to see what it was like, and from commanders I learned where to go, what to do, ect. I'm now a hopeless WvW junky and its probably all I will be doing in this game for a while. This is good for the health of the game mode. Really if more people knew how well this game does 3 faction pvp conquest.... Do vets on the server who are basically passively pugging with people on screen need the commander tag? Nah. It does help coordinate a server however when anyone can see where the group is. That has to be helpful on some level. Also, I do get the feeling when I see a larger group doing stuff, and no commander tag, that im sorta not welcome there. Not sure if any other new WvW get that feeling. Tag is welcoming, it helps new people, and it (usually) gives content for people. How is anyone against any of that?
  19. Seriously, if my reward is a bunch of boxes with really cool sounding names, and they look cool, and i open all of them and i get a bunch of vendor trash, mats that I don't care about (most i just destroy after capping storages) and a smattering of unidentified vendor trash (gear).....get rid of the cool name of the box, and make a frownie face box [🥵]i can stack with others so i know what my crap rewards are and they can join my massive pile of unidentified yellow gear (other colors go the the vendors unidentified) I do want boxes with cross content stuff, thats fine, but call it a crafters mat box. Stop giving me pink dust/shards/yellow egg stone thingys....its offensive to have something so common be tiered that high up. I cant even sell the stuff its destroy when it hits 250 in my inv. There should always be SOMETHING usable in WvW in the boxes. Be it a personal food item, or a shared food item and banners (do this pls) hell id be fine crafting my own WvW food platters and banners (pls let me) using mats from those boxes so i can be somewhat functional beyond spamming 1 and pretending im being helpful to the zerg. I like the skin unlocks but there are only so many, and even less that i care about and will use...so functionality would be nice in my WvW reward boxes. Right now I feel like I selected "i want crafting rewards" as my primary reward track in WvW no matter what reward track i choose, and most of the rewards are just that, vendor trash and crafting mats that are even below vendor trash since they cant be vendored even. The content is fun as hell, at least to me being fresh in the game mode, the rewards are super fun to progress. I just dislike after a few hours going to my inv, excited about all the cool looking things to click, and by the time im done my inventory looks the exact same as before WvW...with rewards.....like theres nothing in the reward tracks beyond skins and dungeon weapons.... Realistically, this game mode needs to be streamlined (yes i know they are doing just this) with rewards and some form of reward progression and contribution needs to be in place to give value to any box given. Be it some form of contribution you can donate to the alliance you get from the box, to stuff to aid the battle or team you are with. While food/Banners are the obvious items that could add value, these are boring in itself. Another option would be for siege equipment to come from boxes, however I like that the plans are cheap and then restricted by the supply system and that would ruin it and make them more rare and then also resource restricted. So something new needs to be implemented to allow WvW boxes to contain more WvW specific rewards that actually feel good to get....since you know...gear doesnt matter in this game.
  20. The answer appears to be "yes" but that yes is the game deciding your alliance for you, so long answer is no. You join the alliances either way. Would be *interesting* to incorporate neutral parties in this game mode that wouldnt be able to cap anything but maybe would be enemy to ALL alliance members (or sell their services ect) Granted I dont want this to be like how it was in Darkfall with "renter" alliances of bad pvpers who pay for good mercs to take and hold areas for a fee. The concept of a neutral party that might intervene caused a lot of very entertaining social dynamics in the game that I did love. Especially when rented mercs take both sides money and then cause chaos in an important fight. Some of the more memorable moments ive ever had in a game.
  21. So changing servers now is just as easy as changing guilds and alliances will be in the new system?
  22. I dont understand the issue. Add a numerical value to everything that can be done in WvW thats considered participating. Choose a set time frame per pip. All your points for that period go into progress then the next time period starts and you are at zero. Right now you gain progress that slowly depreciates, which I sort of do like, as I can take a super short break and hop back in with no real downside to me. But even with this slower depreciation of participation AFK for a short time and you get nothing. So the only easy solution is to have each time period start at 0. I really dont see that many people AFK in WvW, maybe some servers are really bad....also doesnt WvW kick you out the instance when its been too long too keep people from reserving spots on maps longer term? Is this really an issue basically?
  23. So lets say my guild joins what ends up as the gate camped dumpster alliance. What i just leave guild and go join the OP alliance? My point is the WvW was suppose to avoid everyone trying to join the same over powered alliance. I think its actually done that quite well aside from the fact that some servers might not have as many WvW people as others. I havent heard anything on this being countered....whats to stop everyone a month into this from all migrating to the same alliance?
  24. Would theif heals come with bleeds? Maybe stealth so it could be surprise heals. Or maybe it will retain the theif lore and instead of healing teammates they could "steal" their HP?
