  1. I’m having positive experience and enjoying SotO so far. The archipelago grows on you. I love Gladium and Skritt (don’t have the name down yet). I’m intrigued by the voice. Very close to getting mount updraft, and eagerly anticipating it. Have had a lot of fun on my griffon already.
  2. I’ve almost hit max AA in two sessions this week. My friend and I did do Kaineng Blackout, which we wouldn’t have chosen otherwise, but the rest of the time hasn’t really been focused on daily/weekly. A lot of the objectives were cleared by Blackout, and a significant number of the ones that weren’t were general enough (kill enemies while under a utility buff, etc) that we didn’t have to change plans for them to happen. So far WV feels better to me than the old dailies.
  3. Are you identifying and salvaging all your unid gear? You can refining lesser luck into exotic with Artificer.
  4. I expect they refresh at the 77 day rotation. Note that several of the reward limit are set about what you would have gotten from three of the old 28 day rotations.
  5. Oh, you know. They fill up fast. 😄 My SotO slot became my United Legions Waystation slot. Portal stone might have to give the ULW the boot, though.
  6. Ah. I'm not sure that's worth it just for 300 AA. Six days of logging in and doing daily completionist gives 330 AA. Doing the weekly 6/8 awards 690 AA.
  7. I'm not sure this isn't a matter of focus. The new system has shifted the weight of the rewards off completionist, and on to accumulating individual awards. It looks to me like I can get more rewards doing 2/3 dailies and 3/8 weeklies each week, without ever doing daily completionist or weekly completionist (?). Doing either of those will be icing on the cake in the new system, because I'm accumulating 10 AA/daily and 40 AA/Weekly which should add up to enough AA to get all the gold and rewards I got under the old system. It looks to me like they purposely took the rewards away from completionist to actually decrease the burden of having to do it. But we're so used to 2g/completionist and rewards for 28 logins and getting barely anything meaningful from the individual achievements that its hard to switch gears. Individual achievements pay out quite well now, compared to the old, but logins don't, and completionist is halved. Under the old system, if I did 2 dailies every day for 77 days, I would have gotten 60 MCoins and 21 MClovers, and no gold from daily completionist. Now, if I do 2 dailies every day for 77 days, I'll make 1,925 AA, and can get 60 MCoins, 20 MClovers, and 30 gold. That's worse case scenario. It'd be pretty easy to get a few of the easy weeklies done in there as well. Say 2/week, for another 880 AA over the 77 days, and I can get the other 60 gold and still have 520 AA left over for some of the other things.
  8. I'm not far into the story yet, but I know I got the Rift Hunter boots as an award or drop last night. Is that set all from story?
  9. I feel you. I've had a few of those moments over the life of the game. One was only a few years after launch. I hope they get the doing dailies together thing worked out for you and that your physical pain improves.
  10. It's just this system was kind of an example of how not to do it. Crafting huge batches of meaningless things so you can destroy them feels terrible. It also makes for a weirdly opaque system. It's hard to evaluate the cost of recipes because RN are a wildcard material in the mix.
  11. I can see that. There're a few pretty universal things you can spend on though. At least the first 540 AA will get you 90 gold. I can see why they did it though. This game is overloaded with currencies, and many of them are stockpiled high by players who have been around for a while. It means they can't introduce new goals for those currencies without a portion of the player base just immediately buying them. That forces ANet to keep making new currencies so we'll have something to work toward. You can see this is a particular focus of theirs recently, because they're doing the same thing by consolidating old prophet shards and coins into a legacy category to keep people working on the current content's shards and coins.
  12. My memory is that mostly people said it could be as time consuming as other forms of legendary armor, like WvW's grind.
  13. Not pushback, just looking to understand. Why would you prefer to store it up?
  14. Do we know for certain that you will have to complete both collections to craft just one piece of legendary armor? They said we'd need the Astral and Rift Hunter armors, but do we know for certain that doesn't mean Astral Medium Chest and Rift Hunter Medium to work on Obsidian Medium Chest? Nevermind! Found the original blogpost and reread.
  15. Fair. It is very annoying that they stuck to research notes after how clearly players disliked them in EoD.
  16. Title, really. Research notes were a low pointc of EoD's design, and I was hoping they'd stay there. I understand the need for sinks, but RN are a clunky and unfun addition to the game. It's too bad they are carrying forward into SotO. Please consider not using them in the recipes of future expansions.
  17. I think the idea is that a group of players will share the burden of the motivations. Ideally, with a 50 person squad on a rift train, everyone could pitch in one 9g motivation, and get to loot 50 t3 rifts. And 9g is the TP price, right? GW2 efficiency tells me I could craft one with only 1 1/2 gold in materials. The difference in cost should come down as more players start making and selling.
  18. I did find starting as high as I can in the island chain, then hunting back helped. Easier to quickly get to a rift if you are going down rather than up. Griffon really helps.
  19. It's helpful to remember that the expansion is less than four days old and you're talking about a company here. Any reaction to player feedback involves groups of employees having lots of meetings before anything meaningful can be done or shared. And apparently poor Rubi is the single person tasked with interjecting "we're reading and processing" periodically while they do.
