Math comparing old and new dailys
Gibson.4036 replied to sos.6510's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
It’s pretty universally acknowledged that the new system makes you have to engage with the game. No one is pretending you can get the same from just logging in. However, if you used to log in and do daily completionist, you will get better rewards under the new system. -
Are we loosing him ? Mighty teapot

Pretty sure. It was clear he was working hard to remain positive with EOD and especially Gyala. -
Updraft and Leyline break Griffon Flight [Merged]
Gibson.4036 replied to Tuna Bandit.3786's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I haven’t unlocked key line yet, but I don’t understand why some are including updraft. I griffoned around Verdant Brink and loved getting height back with the updrafts. You sale right through them with a small boost in height and refresh of your endurance. It was awesome having infinite flight on griffon. -

Are we loosing him ? Mighty teapot
Gibson.4036 replied to Nightcore.5621's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I’m a casual player who doesn’t do instanced content, but I’ve benefited from Teapot and Hardstuck. He got me playing offensive support builds in OW, and I discovered it was a lot of fun to be supporting others in metas and bounties. I’ve also appreciated how upbeat he has been about the game until recently. Even now, as he’s clearly burnt out and disillusioned, he’s careful to say that GW2 is not the game for him, but that it’s still good for people who want something different. GW2 has been better for having him. I hope he finds his competitive scene he’s longing for.- 190 replies

Astral Acclaim limit of 1300 in Wizard's Vault [Merged]
Gibson.4036 replied to Zok.4956's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Yeah, I find it to be kinda weird. I get that they're trying to instill FOMO, but it goes against how things typically work. -
I'll be unlocking just to try for the Obsidian, so I wasn't too worried about whether I want the Astral Ward for skins. Somone, however, has finally put a preview up on the wiki, and now I really want! https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Astral_Ward_armor_(medium)#/media/File:Astral_Ward_armor_asura_female_front.jpg

Y'all, rifle mesmer doesn't need to shoot, hit with the stock, nor stab with a bayonet! There is another option that would be so quintessentially Mesmer, it has to be what we're getting. Color Guard Rifle Spinning! You and your three clones are a Color Guard unto yourselves, stunning and confusing your enemies with your amazing displays of twirling and tossing while encouraging your allies with a wide variety of boons as they are inspired by your incredible feats of rifle dexterity!

Please paste as plain text. Thank you.

You’d think when that dev was removed from the balance team, ANet would have worked on walking back some of their more egregious changes. But apparently not. I very much miss my St/Axe Mirage. It was fun to hop on Virt last night and just nuke things from extreme range, but I can’t seem to stay engaged with that kind of play very long. Zipping through foes on axe and being able to reassign my illusions if I timed it right was so satisfying.

Secrets of the Obscure general feedback [Merged]
Gibson.4036 replied to gkoogz.3089's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
It keeps people from stockpiling and therefore invalidating a currency. People will keep chasing wizard bucks because they can’t amass a huge quantity. Look at Karma for an example of a currency most players shrug at because even when something new comes along with a huge price tag, it won’t even dent their hoard. The wizard buck limit is there for the same reason ANet is sunsetting old coins and prophet shards. -
I think they were talking about the exotic skins, not the legendary Obsodian skins. Because Astral Ward armor collection is required for Obsidian, it’s really expensive. That means people who just like the AW skins are paying a very hefty price. Totally agree with you if it’s about the Obsidian armor skins, though.

New dailies/weeklies [Merged]
Gibson.4036 replied to Manasa Devi.7958's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
This system has benefits for those who don't play as often. Let's say you want to pursue a legendary, requiring 77 Mystic Clovers. Under the old login rewards, you're going to get your 77 Mystic Clovers after 11 cycles of 28 logins, or 308 logins. If your play session crosses reset, thats 4 logins a week for, or 77 weeks to get your Clovers. With the Wizard's Vault, you can get 77 Mystic Clovers for 4,620 AA. Because you can only buy 20 Clovers/cycle of 11 weeks, it's going to take you 33 weeks and a day. In that time, if your play crosses reset, you can do the dailies 134 times for 65 AA, for a total of 8,540. That's twice as much as you need. You don't even need to play over reset, and you can get your MClovers in half the time than the old system. TL;DR A player playing twice a week can get 77 Mystic Clovers in less than half the time using Wizard's Vault than they would have from the previous Login Rewards. -
I haven't looked to see what other MMOs are currently out there, but I have certainly played ones that are far more casual. I about fell out of my chair the first time I encountered an MMO that would auto-path my character to the next available quest area. The same MMO had a "training" mechanic where you would log out auto-attacking a dummy in the main city, and next time you'd log on you'd have gained a level. That doesn't diminish your point, though. Apart from PvP/WvW, GW2 has largely been an MMO that caters to casual players.

I’ve been playing through Path of Fire with my daughter, so I was excited to see Forged pop up for one of the Wizard’s Vault weeklies. Too hilarious. 10/10, would wipe out forged again!

If they do, people will quickly have a huge pile of wizard bucks, and rarely have to do dailies and weeklies any more. Current system, if, like me, you're not interested in any of the skins, tomes, build expansions, legendary kit, nor ascended weapons, you'll buy out the store fast and have next cycle's rewards day one. WV will lose its intended effect.
