  1. i think it should be possible for a template to try to build that weapon as saved and leave upgrades empty that you do not have available. a bit similar to when you apply a build template for an elite spec that you didnt unlock on that character yet, its still all selected but greyed out and not in effect.
  2. to at least swap back quickly, i would like templates to not update permanently when you swap an item. so if you have a template and swap out a weapon, but don't save the 'new' template in the slot, you could just reapply the template to swap it back.
  3. any class can solo all the HPs in the jungle, it is just a matter of understanding the mechanics and potentially adjusting your build for it. for example staff mirage might need to change a utility for the Champion Chak Blitzer in TD Ogre Lane as you will want to break the defiance bar to stop the reflect. the 3 classes you posted have different strength and weaknesses. Necro has the best ability to face tank, because of that for the HoT HPs you can just use Raid Power DPS meta build and burst all of them down in 15-30 seconds. But with harder opponents you might need to change setup. Rev can build to tank a ton but it costs a lot of damage to do so and the sustain is often overkill if you build for it. Mesmer can avoid most hits and can kill many champs without even getting hit once but mesmer self heal usually is low so if the boss has a high attack frequency or pulsing AoEs, mesmer might have a harder time than Rev/Necro. as Falson mentioned Hizen has some builds for every class on his YT channel, if you need an idea how to build your preferred option - or all of them.
  4. Preparation start their cooldown on initial cast and not on triggering them. The Payback trait should 'restore a portion of the recharge time needed by [..] utility [..] skills.' Only after triggering the Preparations will a Payback proc restore a portion of the remaining recharge time.
  5. well in that regard it is like GS2 from your mesmer. you can hit it more reliably when combining it with an instant teleport, but it will hit often enough on range too. personally i would not use it for only damage, but the immob and 100% 3x projectile finisher = 3x blind with smoke can be helpful.
  6. are you sure that is Impairing Daggers and not Fist Flurry ? the latter is melee, slow and a waste of a slot, the first is faster and 900 range.
  7. and yet a thief with defensive equipment / build would do well to avoid combat with players. which is one part of what you want to do. since we have equipment and build templates you can run 1 build to avoid combat and detection and 1 to flip stuff as fast as possible. if you are mindful about the signs you leave for your opponent on the map. like avoid getting marked and avoid killing dolyaks, camps, shrines in a predictable pattern, then you likely wont have people coming for the defense fast enough as it will only show on the map 30s after the first guard got in combat at which point camps would already be cleared and flipping. after that you could learn to keep a portal in objectives as they flip and maintain it till the coast is clear to flip towers/keeps without needing siege. so for purely ppt solo roaming i would say thief is the best option. if you want to fight other players however as 1 vs 1 rare these days, most other classes will get you more value.
  8. easier for anet thus more likely would be alternative skills for existing weapons, similar how you can select the skills on non-untamed ranger for the hammer.
  9. i suppose i have to take more time to avoid being misunderstood like this, but sadly i don't care for thief enough anymore to do so. as for the thread itself besides thief, i am not sure one can as easily weight offense and defense as the specific mechanics depend too much on the match up. for example: soft cc like blind, weakness, immob are all very strong until your opponent has resistance, but the value of resistance itself depends on how much your opponent uses those. ranged should be weaker than melee, but if your ranged is all projectile and there is plenty of projectile absorb/reflect or options to break LoS then the advantage of range is gone. if the enemy doenst have enough unblockables, then blocks > invuln as soon as you defend a node, but under different circumstances the block might just get punched through without providing the needed defense. ...

  11. the problem with initiative and the versatility it provides is that people argue as tho you could use it all for everything at the same time. all the mobility, all the damage and all the stealth all the time. that is why your engi build comparison doesnt work, as you can not temporarily hinder your ability to stealth / run and use it for damage. this versatility surely should have some price to the build, but how much? IMO you also dont credit 'passive' sustain enough, being able to take smaller hits. sure evade / invuln / block is better than getting hit, but if you have to avoid almost every hit to not evaporate then the resulting playstyles wont come at much of a surprise.
  12. the fullness of servers depend on the 'fullest' server. as you can see one server that recently had opened up was set to full and most other servers lost some relative population. one would assume that one server is now quite stacked.
  13. you can buy it from the master craftsman for Armorsmith, Tailor or Leatherworker for 50s. if you are unsure how to obtain an item, the quickest way is usually to type /wiki itemname that will open a window with the wiki search results for the name and if it is an exact match/reference it will open the wiki page for it directly. in this case : this. the pages will usually have segments for acquisition and usage on them.
  14. i would say give fishing a try, can be done perfectly while watching movies/streams. best would likely be Domain of Kourna for Day + Night fishing, if your focus allows for it try to get in 2x avid desert fisher per D/N cycle by getting the open water fish at night and sometimes swapping from scorpions to mackerels for the tigerfish + kaluga. edit: either someone has been recently pushing the price of fine fish fillets massively or anet banned the bots keeping the supply up, the price of them is now too high, better to only fish with scorpions at the moment.
  15. events are not in there as a preference but that just the ones on a fixed timer. the others depend on the map state / last meta on that very instance of the map. as all the maps have some meta event(s), pretty much any map without an entry on /wiki et you can open the wiki page of the map and find the meta events. that is part of beacons of koda
  16. given current axe deadeye benchmarks we will likely get some nerfs to it in PvE at least. what are your nerf predictions? personally i think nerfs should shift some of the damage from axe 2 to the AA and potentially make the recalled malicious cunning salvo only be a cunning salvo (no malice reset). otherwise the axe would have to be nerfed to useless on anything but deadeye or m7 would have to be nerfed which would hurt non axe builds.
  17. fishing is enabled in WvW. i did fish for a while in bay the other day, can not recommend, even lost participation.
  18. that is because specter is allowed to trade more blows. yet the nerf requests usually dont want to buff that side of the thief, that would change the gameplay of it.
  19. but how do your suggestions make it fun to fight a thief? or do you just throw out suggestions that you think make thief so bad that you wont see any of them anymore?
  20. symbols are fine and good, they just don't have to be player made roles. they could be anything and players can then use it as whatever. could be similar to the election gizmos + additional visual in group/squad ui.
  21. they did many changes for kill participation of support players in WvW that they might have put into pve too. support players that focus on supporting instead of tagging everything shouldn't miss out after all, especially as we do have weapons with ally targeting now.
  22. PoF and EoD specs should be 150 HP for top row. HoT specs are ordered a bit different and should be 190. may i ask why not go for the entire elite spec?
  23. those 3-5 seconds is quite the exaggeration but if you want to test how much of an advantage it is: play window mode -> resize window to be only upper or lower half of your screen changing it from a 16:9 ratio to 32:9. you will also see further to the side but not as much on the upper side of the screen. this could lead you to pan your camera lower, thus seeing less of your back. either way you gain some and lose some. back when arrowcarts in WvW were more generous in where they could hit, some people used this to hit any spot they wanted behind a wall.
  24. expansions that add new elite specs also add new hero points so you can train them. thus Hero Points are in Core Tyria, Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire and End of Dragons.
