  1. I genuinely don't think this version is better. It's much easier to avoid the damage of the skills for any experienced or attentive player, because it's a one and done. Getting hit by most of them means nothing because my nearly naked alt ranger has a higher Storm Spirit tooltip than my Renegade in full zerk. The old ones didn't work either, but the immob doesn't help get people off you nearly as well as the daze spam did, and anything that could ignore or kill your Darkrazor before can almost certainly do the same with the immob. And now you've also lost the ability for the summons to potentially take a hit for you, or to throw them to activate traps or whatever else. That's rough. I don't understand how the two explicitly stated goals, that being improving Kalla in PvP and making Power Ren better in PvE (which, it took a small nerf for, but gained some cleave so idk, about levels out) were missed so badly. I find it frustrating that nobody really cares, either. Rev players only particularly care about Vindicator, non-revs can't get over the trauma from like 4 years ago, and balance changes are so infrequent, poorly thought out, and so rarely communicated that there's no hint of the spec ever actually being anything but a troll pick. Like, I don't wanna be a jerk, I certainly don't think I'm some genius who could fix everything in a day, but how did the goal get whiffed so badly when no other reworks landed so poorly? And how long's it gonna take to remedy that considering it took 6 years to get these changes?
  2. how badly would it make me hate myself to play in pvp e: wait more than i already do*, since i participate in pvp to begin with
  3. forums got better pvp than the game does holy moly
  4. i don't think it's okay to afk but it's hilarious how badly people wanna call you a scrub despite those same people getting kitten when they get called one
  5. I think, in the short term, 900 range on the summons would be really helpful in terms of letting Renegade poke around teamfights or points better. In my greed I'd love to say 1200 to match staff marks, but that's probably asking too much. The game is so incredibly mobile now that trying to sit on the outskirts as a slow, squishy dps doesn't really work anymore, but Renegade doesn't have the bulk to square up either. As it stands, at 900 via shortbow you're either equal or outranged by a lot of ranged weapons, and at 600 for summons you're getting dangerously close to melee weapons and probably lost the ranged trade an eternity ago just trying to get close enough to throw them. Like, good luck trying to poke and trade with a mesmer or necro or hammer vindi or whatever, you're in a losing battle both from a distance and arguably up close in many matchups, but having the extra strength of summons at 900 would help towards giving you more favorable trades. There's a problem with the intended design of Kalla though, in that all of the skills except Icerazor want you and your target to be on top of one another, in order to gain effects. That's mostly an issue with Razorclaw's buff but Soulcleave wants both you and your target inside the effect too. At 900 range they're conflicting with half the value of the skills, basically. What I really hope they don't end up doing is just buffing Soulcleave to try and remedy the poor sustain Renegade as an elite has. I don't think anyone wants to see Kalla get to the spot where you run to a point, throw down Soulcleave and then just sit in it healing for a bunch while ignoring the actions of your enemy. What a bunch of reworks did somewhat recently, like druid/zerk/bladesworn.
  6. i mean i get where you're coming from with most of this because most of this is stuff that people find increasingly unfun as the game ages and stuff that drives them away from playing the mode but i think it's more like, "i compare things to engi while downplaying it and making as many excuses as possible"
  7. the neat things: soulcleave does the correct damage again plus a little extra per summon icerazor is pretty bursty and cleaves which is fun in fractals as power, i feel like a bladesworn sometimes just instawiping mobs with soulcleave+icerazor+darkrazor, even though it took a slight nerf to overall damage the rest is just about as bad/underwhelming as before still pretty much all the same problems in pvp, cooldowns, energy, range, sustain, condi removal, and so on
  8. holo's immune to condis, spams superspeed and blinds and has plenty of damage it SHOULD get one shot by power lol it's not even that weak against it relative to how much it cleanses honestly
  9. Sure, anything can lose to anything else, there's no truly unwinnable match ups because one of the players might not even understand how to control their character. That's not a meaningful way to look at balance. If you're truly dying to condi builds as holo you got outplayed extremely hard.
  10. Uh, yeah? Holo handles condis incredibly well in a pvp environment. If you're struggling with em you're either playing a messed up build or not pressing things at all.
  11. Almost all weapons with some condi application are really stupid in WvW, because of cele. Strong hybrid weapons are just especially problematic, but look at something like pistol for nec. Very condi heavy focused, still absurd. But yeah I genuinely don't care if they nerf power coefficients if I can play condi renegade and not feel like I'm trolling tbh. It'd still probably be nuts cause of cele tho lol You pick mace when you want condi mainhand, sword/GS when you want power, scepter for support (well, staff theoretically for the melee support, scepter would be a more ranged option but y'know lol). Ranged weapons following the same reasoning isn't super unreasonable.
  12. Is shield that bad? If you made the Herald trait baseline in the same way you made Heartpiercer baseline, it'd be fine and strong. Heck, some people even play scepter/shield right now as Vindi. I don't think the self root is as big of a problem as a lot of people make it out to be. Not great, but not that significant. I do agree staff needs work though. For something meant to help you stall for energy/cooldowns/legend swap, it isn't doing that and hasn't for quite some time because damage and mobility are so much more frequent now. The overall damage might be less than it was in the past on some builds pre-2020 but it's way more frequent thanks to low cooldowns and more ability spam, and staff doesn't handle that well. Plus a bunch of nerfs on top of that. e: PLAYED scepter/shield lmao
  13. question, cause i haven't hopped on and checked can you prep the drop and then press 2 back to back, or is it too fast? cause being able to 2, 2, and then 3 is some potentially pretty cool burst 2,5,2,3 or something like that is still pretty good but not quite as tight
  14. hey now that hammer is a solid power weapon most people are happy with which i'm actually really happy for hammer enjoyers tbh time for shortbow to become a better condi wep
  15. Is this the same as the other centaur builds you guys like to play cause uhhh I don't think those work very well in conquest. Good sustain and good pressure are not very accurate. Right, but you have Barrier, Resistance, Chill (and potentially Torment from that via Corruption) and extra Torment damage built into their empowers, and Band Together only lasts 4 seconds. That's a LOT of power budget you're making choices on and potentially missing. I don't think the war band effect works very well for the situational skills, they're reactive skills and at best you're playing around them in an "oh I guess I get a little extra this time" way, but the skills themselves are just objectively weak already. If it were truly a bonus then I'd get it, but they're not.
  16. I'm not entirely sure that's true now. The new Kalla strongly encourages, arguably forces you to cast all of the skills. Previously, a power Ren had no reason to cast Razorclaw for example, unless you were super full of energy and looking to swap and had no other way to dump it. Now, with empowers, you need to use it to empower Icerazor for example, because you don't want to use your stunbreak or heal for that since they're situational and more important. However I do agree that energy is a problem for Renegade at large. Even the standard Jalis/Shiro builds consume a lot more than most other builds, and it has no way to gain it back like core or Vindi. I don't think it's particularly stronger now than it was, just slightly different, still unable to protect itself, still some of the lowest sustain around, still just as easy to w key into the dirt.
  17. wow doesn't have that anymore either tho lol it's more than gw2 but until they did emergency rating changes, gladiator (winning enough games at a high rating) was literally impossible to get in the most recent expac, the rank 1 player was below the gladiator rating requirement classic mode pvp participation is extremely low too
  18. Actually really solid now, reminds me of back in the day when Rev first came out when IO was quickness. It's really cheese and niche and clearly unintended but you can make hammer 2 hit the same spot 3x (it only hits two of those though) Wait until someone gets absolutely slapped around by that, the 4, vindi spear, whatever else lol
  19. nah lol 75 energy to get them all out without any orders or weapon skills is disgusting no ability to protect yourself with them is awful the barrier is 1500 and it's only on the final pulse, ~3 after she starts, closer to ~3.5 after hitting the button tbh. unless they all hit like storm spirit levels it's not any better and they don't, and never will they did finally fix the soulcleave bug though, and now it does the correct damage instead of literally 1/4th what it was supposed to do for no reason
  20. cackling ayo where them "it's gonna be so much better!" players at
  21. how come all 5 blades get unblockable but not all seven shots get unblockable is it because 7 is too large of a number to count to
  22. Bladesworn plays without discipline, I see plenty of people trying strength on staff spb instead, though whether or not that's better is a toss up at this point. Prolly not but who knows. Sure seems like it's in about the same spot when it comes to traitline flexibility across various builds. Is this supposed to be some sort of gotcha moment, like you want me to give you actual numbers or something? Nobody has that information available to them. You want people to do the math for things they don't have enough information to figure out. I don't know where those numbers should be specifically, none of us do. That'd require knowing a whole lotta things, like whether or not staff builds have a higher winrate, how much more healing they do in a given match relative to other sidenoders, what skills it's coming from, what it means as a tradeoff from another weapon, and so on. At best, the only valuable information any of us can give is whether or not we think something does too much or too little, whether that's damage, healing, or whatever other category. Anybody who's ever tried to give out actual specific number changes in an mmo is clueless.
  23. Boy are you sure in luck then because warrior's had a strong if not meta build since shortly after the EoD launch in Feb 2022 lol. Followed by the banner rework and condi spellbreaker, then the defense rework, followed by czerk, followed by the now staff spellbreaker. It got pushed out a few times in between there by Cata and Druid as the number one meta pick but never bad. Everyone who plays this game has this terrible problem where if their preferred class isn't the #1 pick within its role, it's garbage. Everybody does it, from the literal rank 1 to the most inexperienced, and it's not ever been accurate, people just fotm really hard because it's easy to do, so picks only reflect that. They don't see play anymore because they all perform the same role and staff is clearly better. If you're gonna say Rev has fringe builds, then you absolutely must throw condi zerk in there too. It's not nuts like it was, but it's not terrible and if condi herald qualifies then condi zerk is way beyond that. If somehow czerk is "off the map" then how is condi herald not? It's just as uncommon, if not moreso, and significantly more niche. As far as changing it, it's probably just too much overall healing for a warrior not investing in healing power. I don't think staff has bad design or the skills do too much or anything.
  24. What are you even talking about? Everyone has a meta build, welcome to how balance has been for a long time now. The gap between meta specs might be narrow but the difference between good and bad builds is larger than it's ever been. It sucks, I wish it weren't the case, but it affects everyone. You think anyone plays Retribution, Salvation, Corruption, Herald, or Renegade? Nah you play Dev/Invo/Vindi or you might as well not play the class at all. All I've said is that staff warrior builds are overtuned, and there's a bunch of people here immediately on the defensive about how it's fair and warrior needs it because they're convinced the class is still really bad when that hasn't been true for quite some time now, across multiple different builds that were subsequently nerfed because they were overtuned. Staff warrior's just the next one.
  25. What? I don't think most people have a problem with warrior being a relatively tanky sidenode build at all. It's simply a matter of degree. Druid's getting dunked tomorrow for that very reason. And look at this, you've got warrior players here who think staff, something that makes you nearly immortal, should also have a second CC on it? That it isn't good enough already? The only silly thing about the weapon is that with 1 unblockable stack, it removes itself immediately from the weakness application. And that's more of a design issue than something making it weak. But you are though. Warrior players are completely lost in their own sauce and think the class is garbage, when it's not and hasn't been for a long time, and therefore it deserves everything it has and is immune to any sort of balancing criticism because one power build isn't very good.
