  1. And that's a bad thing because? The mech was never meant to tank for you. It is meant to do part of what you are already doing yourself, be it dps or support. It is upto to you to pay attention where it is standing and use recall or shift signet to bring it back to safety if you need to. I don't have context for what gear you were using or what skills, neither do I know the Tarnished Traitor very well in the first place other than that it is meant to be group content and not meant to be soloed. And like I already said the mech is not meant to take damage for you so you can solo stuff.
  2. And yet I played it just fine in fractals and raids easily without the mech dying or losing competitive dps. Plenty of people have. Yes the mech doesn't do enough damage on its own, but its not meant to. It isn't meant to do something on its own. It is meant to work in tandem with the mechanist who is also doing dps/support (depending on our gear), rather than like ranger pets which do their own things while the ranger does his own thing. That is part of what makes the mech fun. It is a true pet class unlike ranger which was a mess right from the start. I say this again with the utmost respect: Do NOT compare the mechanist to ranger ever. Completely different classes, completely different mechanics. This is a video by Lady Kitty on the raid boss Cairn. Not even a complex rotation yet very effective without being overpowered. I tried it myself at a few bosses and it works.
  3. In PVE the mech is fine as it is right now. It relies on boons from other players to do its damage, which makes it very balanced, since you can't access the full potential of the mech by yourself. The only things I would change are that mech inherits 100% of whatever stats we have, and move the boon copying for mech onto a minor trait just like it is with ranger. Fixed stats here mean nothing, since we want the mech to be doing either power or condi dps, or support. And for all these roles WE need to be wearing gear with same stats as mech to be useful anyway. It isn't like if you just use a pet with heal stats, while you use condi gear, makes you any good at end game content. It actually makes you worse, since you aren't specializing in dps or support. For open world, now the mech may not be able to solo stuff like it did before, but that's actually a good thing. And please don't compare ranger pets to the mech again saying they have fixed stats and rangers can make it work. Rangers can use 2 pets, they have access to only one pet skill, and their playstyle doesn't really revolve around the pet. In fact their best dps class is currently the soulbeast which gets rid of the pet entirely for a damage boost and their heal class is druid which, again, doesn't rely on the pet. Whereas mechanist, being an elite spec, has the entire gameplay revolving around the mech in one way or another no matter what you choose. The mech would simply be weak without our stats to back it up, just like core ranger pets are.
  4. No we can't because the pet will NOT have the same stats as me, it will only have fixed stats based on what pet I chose, just like ranger pets. I could have 2000 condition damage and the pet will have something like 1600. This also leads to balance issues in PVP where you can have a dps mech with a bunker mechanist healing/supporting it, and being unkillable itself, which in turn will again lead to mech nerf because it does "way too much damage." All in all having fixed stat pets will lead to balancing disaster and nerf after nerf till we get a basically useless traitline called mechanist. Better to have the mech have the same stats as us with a power stat nerf in PVP only so it doesn't get overpowered.
  5. No thanks! I want a customizable mech that copies my current stats, not a ranger pet which is gonna be trash anyway.
  6. This I agree with. Maybe instead of the new minor trait we got we could get a trait that copies all our boons on to mech since we don't have that many sources of regeneration anyway.
  7. They already are more impactful in PvE. The engineer does most of the work anyway with the mech only doing like 20% of it. And even that doesn't come easy with all the piano I have to play due to the nerfs from last beta. And on top of that now I should keep track of mech's skills too since I "want more control over it?" No thanks. If anything the mech should do more on its own rather than rely on my input.
  8. How much power need the mech lose before being called a ranger pet? Honestly, they made a decent summoner pet spec for once and people yelling its too passive when its not. At least not in PvE. Maybe in PvP its hard for you people to fight against an AI enemy while ignoring the actual player who does nothing relevant without the pet anyway but that is no reason for the mech to be nerfed in PvE too.
  9. Exigency Protocols' stronger regeneration is near useless because we don't have enough regeneration to warrant having a trait boosting regeneration in the first place. The only regeneration skills we have are Med Kit's Infusion Bomb and Elixir H which are mutually exclusive and the Alchemy trait Comeback Cure which grants regeneration whenever you remove a condition. Best to remove that stronger regeneration and make the trait copy boons on the player to the mech, instead of wasting the passive on an already overloaded Shift Signet.
  10. The difference being you have the option to play without pets on multiple builds on even core ranger, whereas mechanist is entirely designed around the mech and nerfing it would basically leave us with one entirely useless traitline.
  11. Not surprising since untamed was doing less damage than Alac Renegade on what was supposed to be a pure dps build. We will see how much our classes have been buffed/nerfed during the beta. I just feel as if mechanist was completely nerfed without gaining anything useful.
  12. Well at least we aren't alone in our nerfs. Pretty much all the elite specs were nerfed except Vindicator. I am guessing they are now going for the underpowered versions of elite specs before deciding finally on the balance for launch.
  13. Not just power mech, but ALL mechs will feel bad to play. They all gained damage from the power trait, even condi and support mechs. The majority of their damage was from their normal attacks which were good (not great but good). Now the base power of condi mech is reduced to 1000 AND the condi mech only has 5% crit chance instead of what we had before. Now we are stuck with a worse version of condi holosmith with nearly the same playstyle and far less damage and CC. They also nerfed the bleeding duration on mech autoattack which is again bad, since mech doesn't gain passive condi duration bonuses from our traits or runes like nightmare runes. So essentially we get stuck with a mech doing like 5 seconds of bleeding at best with autoattack which is much worse than what we had.
  14. Yeah it is better if we inherit 100% the stats we are using. If we are using viper's gear mech should inherit 100% of the power/condition damage/precision/expertise stats all round rather than just some of them.
  15. Mech's damage has been nerfed a LOT with only 25% power inheritance and no precision on base mech AND reduced stats on base mech. We got all this without anything to compensate for it. We should have gotten our boons copied onto mech as base minor trait instead of a useless 50% damage reduction for 5 seconds on mech in pve. Instead we may be forced to take shift signet for more damage from the mech now even as condis. What they could have done is make the active part of shift signet work the same as epidemic where it "shifts" conditions on target to other targets nearby. Instead the signet is now useless in pve except for its boon copying (which may actually be a dps loss for condi builds since we have to remove one of our kits to use the signet).
  16. So now what? Mech inherits only 25% of the power stat from us and also has its base power reduced to 1000? HUGE nerf right there to ALL builds. The power damage on mech was what was doing most of its damage on all 3 types of mech builds whether power or condi or support. Instead of the new minor trait we should have gotten a minor trait that automatically copies all boons on us to mech. That should be baseline instead of us having to waste a skill slot for a pretty useless signet in pve.
  17. I submitted a ticket and they said they knew about the issue and are looking into it.
  18. In Guild Wars 1 there is a friendly Margonite called The Lost, who says that the Margonites don't have children, and don't change from the old ways, and he says they were wrong to follow Abaddon.
  19. Streamlined Kits in tools will give swiftness when you activate a kit. Since its a levelling build you can use pistols.
  20. It was never going to be good at Vale Guardian because of how mech gets hit by green damage when no one is standing in them, which is the case nowadays. But otherwise it seems pretty solid on the condi side.
  21. Going too far towards the edge of that area leads to instant death so the players are confined to that one safe spot on the little mound on a bit away from the wall near the edge. But both courtiers and villagers can get there in a legit fashion.
  22. You don't need a speed boost, you jump from some rocks to the top of the wall, then you go around on the wall to reach the place.
  23. Avoid those 2 attacks? They are well telegraphed. But after getting frozen one of your teammates needs to kill the ice that is freezing you to break you out. Or you wait it out. Sometimes due to a bug or something breaking the ice doesn't break the person free and they have to wait it out but most times you can break the person free.
  24. For the details of the attack, open Hero panel->Training->Mechanist->Mouse over Elite skill. It isn't really much of an attack though.
