  1. There are plenty of people who use jump/dodge as a macro. Sure, you can bind those keys to something your thumb can hit two buttons at the same time. But every single dodge is a jump-dodge? Whatever makes them feel better, I guess.
  2. My biggest gripe with Smoke Screen however is its 1/2 cast time. When other professions get PLENTY of much stronger utility abilities that are: Usable while stunned1/4s or No Cast Time
  3. D/P is more bursty, but requires glass generally to be effective.S/D is safer, has a lower skill floor/ceiling (easier to use and only effective to a certain skill level)S/P is safe, but limited as its predictable. (Lower skill floor than the others, but higher skill ceiling)
  4. Did you have Shadow Portal as an underwater skill as well? Impossible budCorrect, it was a jab pal https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trap - Mechanics are the same, if you remove the skill from the bar, which underwater does, the trap disappears.
  5. Smoke Screen is fantastic against Holosmiths and Rangers. The quick pulse allows for some hefty blinds. Been using it against holosmiths when they go into PF, and they just can't seem to understand why they're not blowing up a Thief haha.
  6. OP this isn't a deathmatch king of the hill game mode. Rotating capture points is a strategy and its not guaranteed that whomever on your team is rotating will be successful. And that's not always your teammates's fault if the enemy team dedicates someone to denying them.
  7. Did you have Shadow Portal as an underwater skill as well?
  8. I already covered this in my post. Rifle4x3 = 15 Initiative. That's 3 more initiative than the Thief is going to have at maximum. The Thief is almost always not going to have the 12 max initiative to even do 2 DR's in a row after being marked. This isn't even a problem in the game right now. People are creating a false narrative. If a Thief is in a keep, then he is no more difficult to kick out than a mesmer thanks to Mounts. Should mesmers lose their portal? No, it's been like that since the dawn of the game. I'll save some time and point out the incredibly obvious: here is how it's just as easy for a mesmer: Blink, stealth, mount up, 3 mount evades. Gets dismounted? K cool, blink, stealth, mount up etc etc, place portal, leave keep, stealth, enter portal, blink, mount up, run around enemies. It's a part of the game, learn to adapt and you'll all be a little less stressed about things that don't matter. Yikes! There are easier ways to concede one lost, btw. :3

  10. LOL what year are you playing this game in, 2015? If I were to extrapolate from your last string of posts, there's a good chance that you fall into this category of thought: "Nerf Rock, Paper is OK though" - Scissors Why? Because aside from gimmick one shot builds that only affect other glass targets, Thief has had lower burst damage than most for quite a few years. S/F Ele, Holo, Mirage, Herald, DH, and even power Reaper have higher burst damage than Thieves. They also have higher sustained damage than Thieves and far better staying power in fights. Their defenses are also easier as they can continue pressure at the same time. Just because you couldn't defeat Thieves on your own doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. Because it does, all the time. Otherwise Thieves would be the most represented roaming class, which granted they were...4 years ago. I suggest you put some vitality and toughness into your build, also try playing Thief for a little while. It's clear that you never have as you seem to think that they have unlimited initiative and don't have any cooldowns on their utilities.
  11. Damage increase with speed which equals to distance covered..somebody must have skipped his physics class, also we're talking about a middle ages rifle...no a modern sniper rifle and during middle ages, an arcing arrow would have of course covered more distance than a flintlock limited to 75 yards compared to 200 yards of longbow Lol the class of weapon is called RIFLE. Not Musket. And uhhh...I never took a physics class, but I'm pretty sure damage increasing with distance is incorrect. Distance slows the projectile which decreases the potential damage a whole bunch, right? But sure, lets entertain your idea about Longbow Vs. Muskets.English Longbow - ~180 FPS, "Effective" Range - 600Ft (takes a while to get there, doesn't it?)Flintlock Musket - ~1000 FPS, Effective Range - 225-300Ft (Doesn't take nearly as long to get there, right?) And here's one of the earliest rifles:Springfield 1861 - 1000-1300 FPS, Effective Range 300-1200Ft (Gets there really fast and maintains similar range, but more often much higher) So if you want to bring that logic to this discussion, would you care to comment on the FPS vs Range of these items? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y3PV577bSxRL_lw-Wxq41_3EbtTK87IU/view(copy/paste, hyperlink doesn't work from forum redirect)
  12. The only clue there's a thief inside is occasional Deadeye audio line, and this game isn't designed to give audio clues so you can't even tell where is it coming from. It's ridiculous. The only stealths that don't have a visual tell are Silent Scope (2s, bound to endurance), their heal (2-6s), and their Steal/Mark (3s, mark requires target in range). Granted that's a long stealth uptime for using all those skills, but these are not enough to keep up permastealth alone. Someone who is vigilantly hunting a perma stealthing Thief will be able to throw a target painter (gimungous radius) on the visual tells from smoke fields or stealth utilities. Once marked the Thief will be forced to leave the keep or die, as they'd have skills already on cooldown and little to no endurance for DE dodge stealths. DE can hide their Sniper's Cover smoke field in a wall, but even then it has a very audible queue that will direct you to the DE. Once marked did they:A: Shortbow away? Congratulations, this is not a DE, and thus they need to use their incredibly visible stealth utilities or smoke fields much more often, making successfully using target painters effortless. Go have a duel and see if you were worthy of kicking them out of your keep.B: Shadowstep away as a DE after marked/revealed? This is pretty much their only gap making tool available, as they're most likely low on initiative, and can only DR twice in a row anyway, unless the stars have aligned and you are hunting a Permastealth DE that is using Shadow Arts AND Trickery. Can you not catch up to that? Then you're probably playing a necromancer and have no business trying to chase anyone anywhere.
  13. Haha, Holosmith and Mirage are pretty much as rotational as they come. Dodge food and Energy Sigils only further lower the skill floor and turn dodge into a rotational ability rather than a reactionary ability. You'll notice that you can be not even attacking and many players will simply dodge because it's a part of their boring rotation. Those are the players that pretend to like WvW but actually prefer PvE, they're not fighting other players, they're fighting against their own cooldowns.
  14. Thief is a counter to power variants of mesmer. It is not a counter to condi mirage. laughts in plasma, plasma, dagger storm, dodge dodge, steal plasma plasmaYeah, that allows the Thief to fight the mesmer, not counter it.

  16. I have 6 legendary weapons. I was bored to death for every moment I was grinding map completion in PvE.
  17. What buffs to Thief do you propose as a trade off for removing a huge portion of their mitigation? Invul, stab, blocks, clones, resistanceSo you want Thieves to be...mesmers?
  18. What buffs to Thief do you propose as a trade off for removing a huge portion of their mitigation?
  19. Deadly Ambition feels like a huge buff to P/D. I've been having some good fun with it, unfortunately P/D seems to remain as a dueling build, with little reliable AoE for group fights.
  20. Submit it to the bug forum imo. I submitted a bug ticket in game last night for this.
  21. This bug fix is fine. What "almost all other classes" have auto attack fast moving projectiles that track? Also it pierces and is the highest damage Rifle auto attack out of the 3 Rifle users. Your outrage at this is beyond comprehension. It wasn't a bug.It was an autoattack. None of our 2-5 skills had tracking. It has significantly less range and doesn't travel as fast as longbow arrows. The damage isn't out of this world -- it's plinking damage. Yes, it was an autoattack, which is why I specifically mentioned auto attack in my reply. Are you aware that almost zero (if not actually zero) other professions have 1-5 projectile skills that track? It certainly says it was a bug in the patch notes, and I'm far more inclined to believe the game developers over a typical player in that regard. You can have the bug back as soon as they give the same bug to Warriors and Deadeyes, okay? Actually, they do. The difference is in how they track. I was bored so I messed around with some golems in the PvP lobby. Longbow arrows fly farther and faster than rifle projectiles do, and they can be way off-target and still count as a hit. Rifle projectiles don't get that luxury, but it seemed like engineer rifle had less forgiveness compared to warrior rifle. I didn't bother with deadeye rifle, so I leave that decision to you.Actually no, they don't. Engi rifle only has 1 skill that can compare to the 1 thru 5 skills of Warrior and DE Rifle and that's the auto attack (I believe Overcharged Shot projectile speed is much faster) - which makes the engi the one that has a far more forgiving skill because, before the upcoming patch, it tracks. Ranger longbow arrows fire faster. Warrior and DH do not. Further? Yes, but nobody was disputing that. Contrary to your claim, rifle shots are actually more reliable in terms of hitting strafing targets than Warrior and DH longbow. Yes, but they also called the net shot firing backwards a bug. Not long ago they said it was supposed to fire backwards. I'm not sure I trust their track record on "bugs"Sure, net shot release notes have been contradictory. But it is not comparable to Hip Shot, as no other rifle attacks worked like that, and they have no previous notes regarding this. I am discussing Hip Shot, not Net Shot So your method of balance is "If I can't have it, nobody can?" Strange policy, but you do you. What is your reasoning that one auto attack should have this, while the other two cannot? I guarantee it's not anything better than my request for uniform mechanics. Congratulations, you've won an internet! I'm not sure what you're arguing with me about, or why it's such a big deal to you. So I'm just going to leave this here. It's unfortunate that you don't seem to be able to admit you are wrong when proven so, and you resort to abandoning the conversation in such a manner. Please avoid such hostile reactions when the person you are talking to is not being hostile.
  22. It's very clear that ANET doesn't wan't DrD to have a large instant gap-closer by default. It seems that is meant to stay on melee while you're already fighting, not burst in from range. Asking for it's range to increase again seems contrary to what their intentions regarding the change seem to be.
