  1. Cronos has the way of it. If you download Steamedit and delete the flag -providerissteam from the launch argument line it will launch from Steam with your old account. Its the same thing folks that bought FFXIV retail accounts have to do to get it to run on Steam. They aren't enabling all old accounts on Steam and having their whole player base have 30% revenue skimmed off every gem purchase. Its convenient for us but thats alot of revenue to give up for them lol. This fix does the same thing anyway. Very easy to do with Steam edit just delete the line and hit save.
  2. yes how did you fix it ? What version are you using ?
  3. I cant find anyone to do the metas as it is. They should split them up to get around the player cap. I see like 10 people over the course of an hour if I'm lucky.
  4. They should split the zones if the cap is that small. It feels depressing doing every meta myself and never seeing anyone. Ended up going back to Lost Ark.
  5. Yep really enjoyed the Derelict Delve that was some great game design and the jumping puzzles are a great GW2 pioneered feature to would love more of those. The main draw is the open world give us more open world things to do. This game is not and never will be a lobby raiding dungeon game, there is no progression to chase. Love the game its probably my most played game of all time since ive played pretty steady since release. Art team and world design is world class. They need to just embrace what this game does well in the open world and its not more hp sponge bosses and grinding map currency. To your point above id still love player housing and more interactive gardening around my house. We may have a guild hall but I had no input in its design because im not a guild leader. I want my own slice of heaven and to build my furniture and exterior decorations with my own crafting skill or buy from others off the trading post and to hunt for design patterns in the world. They can do some premium decorations to I don't care but I enjoy building things.
  6. Yea I got the same feeling. I actually was kind of hoping the elites would be Asian themed. There isnt a single one that really excites me if I'm being 100% honest. I was hoping Kaenining would have some sprawl to it and be maze like, like the first one and require unlocks and exploration to get around. I love HOT maps now that I have a mount. I guess I really wanted more GW1 Cantha. Game play loop is pretty stale for me to. Im tired of a map, some currency to grind and some skins. I feel like the turtle and skiff were added more by them asking in the boardroom how do we sell skins rather then will this be fun and I hope they get fleshed out more with more to do with them like running trade packs or having sea combat in WvW or something. This game will never grow by following the WoW instanced group model. Simple reason being is this game has minimal gear progression. There is no real farm phase to compel people to keep running this stuff once they have tried it a handful of times if they have legendries or ascended. The stat bump is minimal anyway so your not really compelled to farm it so it will stay niche. I like it I just dont have a strong reason to farm it like gearing up for raids because once you hit that ascended bar thats really it unless you're a skin hunter unlike other progression based MMOS. I think they should just embrace more life sim aspects from New world or Black Desert like player housing with more fun things to do in it related to the economy, crafting furniture etc.. A proper economy off of farming plots, caravan building, ship building, real trade posts you can trade goods between cities or something from, pirating, flagable pvp in the open world with bounties on players etc.. People are here for the open world and yet they are super uncreative in that aspect. Its like we get a handful of meta / trains and some hp sponges to beat up every month and some achievement and that's the content. This is the only mmo I actively open the achievement panel to look for stuff to do. Not because I'm a achievement hunter but because that's all there is to do half the time. Put some sandbox systems in and let the players be the content. We got more of the same but I feel like the formula is getting stale at this point. And for God Sakes let every elite be playable and viable. Im tired of them power creeping the kitten out of new specs to force you to play them.
  7. I think they should just make this game more sandboxy. They tried raids and doing more theme park type things like fractals and its only managed to pull a small following. They also tried going after the esports crowd and instanced competitive gaming, it didnt work either. New World and most survival pvp type games are pretty half assed in content (New World questing is God aweful) but people really like those type of games (toggleable pvp, hunting animals in the open world) it wouldnt be bad to take some ideas from it, BDO and Arche Age (minus the P2W). Have some houses right in the open world and cities that can be captured by guilds I think it would build more interest if it was just integrated right into the open world with hot spots with wars happening in the world over various forts and stuff itself. Just have it able to be flagged on or off like New World. This way people feel like the world is more alive and can see guilds having actual guild wars. Makes it feel more alive in the world and when you see people calling out offensives and defenses in the chat it gets people more involved that might not normally bother with it. Should be able to make a farm plot in the open world, make trade ships, fishing ships, run trade routes and caravans etc between ports etc, allow pirating. Its such a casual game but it lacks a lot of fun casual sand box type content outside of map trains and metas, Beetle racing ?. When they do implement something its often in a less then interactive and fun way. Like I doubt anyone enjoys farming the plots in their home instance as much as they would if they could place a fence out in the world by a house their guild took during a territory war. Solo players can still diddle in their home instance but I think they should just delete the WvW maps there's more pride fighting over say Rata Sum for your Guild rather than some random instanced play area.
  8. They have this in WoW. It just follows the rotation from Simulation Craft thats been simmed for each class. Not sure why you would think it would be bannable in this game? https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/hekili https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/maxdps-rotation-helper
  9. For me in hindsight HoT was one of the greatest and most creative expacs in MMO gaming. At the time I didnt like it because you basically needed your elite spec on some classes just to survive and so half the game was pain just getting it unlocked until HP trains started up and it was a bit hard to get around. In todays game with everyone rolling with powercreeped specs already the difficulty is fine and with the mounts the layered maps are a blast. I hope the new expac is more like HoT but with out the initial power creeped difficulty spike.
  10. Yep. He seemed to be under the idea Rangers and Thief Deadeye are ranged only like WoW and refused for most of the time to come off Warrior even though its one of the crappiest classes in pvp ranged or not. He camped rifle most of the time even though its a garbage weapon and he probably would have been better off with another class. I actually pointed out he might as well give a real ranged class a shot and was told people that play those classes are bitches... even though hes camping warrior rifle . Alot of his problems came from a lack of game knowledge and an insistence that no one try to help him out or they were back seat gamers and the same host of issues everyone else runs into such as being forced to stand in aoe crap clouds. Anet is surely to blame the common issues of too much aoe crap circles and the down state being dumb but he wasnt really setting himself up for success either.
  11. They know all this they just dont have money to do anything about it. What ever funding they did have NCsoft pulled out from under them and laid that other team off. They have enough money to keep the status quo and put an expac out here and there and thats it. They arent getting money to re-write the engine as at that point they might as well make GW3. they aren't getting money to get better servers either so they are stuck on AWS like everyone else. There isnt really much they can do if you look at it objectively as NCsoft by the looks of it isnt willing to invest anymore than they have to at this point in the games life cycle. The question is even if they were willing to do all that would that drastically increase their earnings or would it just be throwing money at the game with no return? Better off putting out Cantha and getting to work on or licensing a better engine for GW3.
  12. I have to agree on some parts. I hope we are fighting through the streets of Cantha as well as through the sewers and inside Asian style castles with multiple layered maps that have large indoor and outdoor areas. You can still have large areas that are technically inside a building. Kaening has some real potential to be a sprawling multi layered metropolis. They have gone gun shy on that type of map design though after people cried in Hot. The main issue was difficulty before you unlocked your elite and people had issues getting around due to the layers... now with power creep and mounts neither issue should be a problem.
  13. Housing, and furniture patterns along with a carpentry skill added to the game so we can build houses in our home instances and furniture. Allow the linking of home instances into housing blocks so you can be part of an actual community if you want or have your house in the same area as your guild.
  14. I like all of it. I thought it was a lot of fun rather than the usual map with currency to grind. Ive actually liked everything in LS5. Cant say there has been anything I didn't like. The Strikes are fun it feels like the 8 man raids in FFXIV which are basically a single boss encounter just like this. If I wanted to solo shit I could go play Witcher 3 or Skyrim or something. I honestly think most people enjoy the grouping content, instanced and open world. Like why even play an MMO? Plus you can solo it anyway so stop trying to ruin it for everyone else. This forum just tends to attract the vocal minority.
  15. I had a debate on this very point on the actual Raid/ Strike sub forum. This is what ive been saying for years. The fact you have to make your own group is a pain in the ass. Im up for more content on the same difficulty level as the old explore dungeons were but I dont necessarily want to be making my own group every time I feel the need.
  16. This game needs Steam. Just being on the top played list like BDO, FFXIV and ESO each day provides exposure for other people to try it.
  17. Guys I honestly dont even care anymore to debate with you so this is my last word on this. Have your raids then I can play other games. I still disagree but i'm not arguing the same point in circles. Yes rewards were changed, no they do not provide a good time vs reward investment I already said that myself. Can this mix be changed yes. Is there group content in this game that average joes can do yes, look at low lvl fractals. Call it a fractal with re-used assests if you want I dont really care. There is groupable content and there is room inbeween the amnoon choyka and Dhuum to play with on difficulty. Its up to them to find that mix if they are interested in the casual grouping community. If not I dont care im not getting paid to theorycraft out the risk vs reward structure for them thats their job. Can it work of course but you need the right, reward, difficulty/risk and accessibility. It can work the choice is up to them if they care enough and I guess we will find out if they get that mix right with Strike Missions. It wont fail because people dont want to do it, people play mmos for social interaction. It will fail because they cant get the mix right between how hard it is, opportunity cost and what do i get, plus the 4th issue fun, ie. am I expected to do the same thing for the next 10 yrs.
  18. Id rather the Commander gets disbarred some how and everyone becomes your enemy and you have to make new friends with outlaws our something. Do a total 180 it would be interesting to be the anti-hero for a spell.
  19. I mean I dont know which part is untrue. I'm basically just saying since they dont have a raid or dungeon team any more- they can re-use/ refurbish the raids to support that midcore group since its probably easier tweaking bosses than making it all from scratch at this point. My honest belief was that a large part of why they killed the explore mode community by killing the gold reward was because its was competing against gem sales / gold conversion/ skins. Once they removed the reward it wasnt worth it so I dont know if they would ever even bother with this because at one end no one will do it if there isnt enough rewards and if there is then its a gold farm again unless they can limit it to a daily reward. Its a fine balance of fostering that community again while not shooting their gem sales in the foot unless its like a daily token towards a leggy. Is that worth it for them? I dont know, but I personally miss that type of content I used to really enjoy it. You do realise dungeon rewards got buffed and now are worth more then they where back then? Why do you think dungeons aren't as popular as they used to be? Its because we've been doing the same dungeons for 7 years. Outside of the Classic WoW community, who wants to do the same thing for that long? We need new dungeons. Provide new content and ill do it. You cant ask people to do the same thing for the same skins for 7 years or the fun is gone and it becomes, "is this worth it just to farm because ive drained the fun out of it at this point"? So in this instance new content tied to new rewards is needed as we have hit a point of burnout. Its the same reason I dont run around doing the events in Queensdale anymore or the Vine in HoT, eventually you need new experiences. New Raid difficulty = new experience for 94% of the population.
  20. Anet employees need to eat. They deserve to get paid for their work just like everyone else. I get it times are tough for everyone in this economy but still fair pay for fair work. They will be getting my 60 Canadian dollars or whatever it is. Its the least I can do for 7 years of fun.
  21. Title and actual Guild Wars. People still play this content to this day.
  22. I want it to be like a 3 zone city/ event hub all rolled into 1 that I need to fight and slog through each district with its own events and story and I want a sewer/underbelly area again. I want areas to be locked off initially and only accessible via certain masteries like HoT so it feels like a forbidden city with hidden areas and treasures that cant be steam rolled through in a day.
  23. I mean I dont know which part is untrue. I'm basically just saying since they dont have a raid or dungeon team any more- they can re-use/ refurbish the raids to support that midcore group since its probably easier tweaking bosses than making it all from scratch at this point. 24. Again, case in point is Grothmar Strike. It is very easy. (hint: if you want to compare it to FF XIV, it is way, way easier than Crystal Tower raids). And still you see most of the player population wiping on it (well, not anymore, because most of those players stopped doing it already). It is not a decent challenge to practically anyone - you either aren't good enough to pass (and then you wipe), or you win easily. Another case is T1 fractals - if you made truly everyone attempt them, you'd see a lot of groups failing. As long as the rewards that you get are decent but dont invalidate the regular difficulty its a win as that content is now no longer wasted on most of the player base. Ss long as the regular mode is still the most efficient way to get those rewards everyone wins. Two rule sets, two difficulties, two different levels of reward ie more tokens for legendaries, gold, etc. for regular raid difficulty. Yes, making more difficulty tiers would probably have been a good idea at some point, but do not deceive yourself thinking that it would make a huge majority play that content. Yes, the amount of players doing it would be greater, but not as great as you think it would be. I understand quite well and ive said it before, the general population used to run explores and story modes all the time and for the most part had no issues (especially COF for gold). It only stopped when they took away the good gold rewards and stopped making them. Its your opinion not fact that the community is too low skill to handle any kind of group content. I've seen with my own eyes that the community can do explore, and story dungeons and fractals and they do them every single day so saying its not possible to balance any form of group content to be done by a reasonable subest of the population is completely false it happens every day..... low level fractals and explores you can pretty much mongo with any class. During the explore mode heyday was Warrior the meta, sure, but every game has a meta group and it didnt matter ive seen story, explore and low lvl fractals done by all sorts of comps. Again thats also irrelevant, it does not matter one bit if they balance the casual raids so that 20% find it difficult or 50% as long as people enjoy it and its not abuseable just like low lvl fractals. Do you consider low lvl Fractals and Explores to be the same as the Amnoon Pinata? The both of you are deliberately using hyperbole if you dont believe there is a difference. Would the fractal community do it, probably, would the old Explore mode folks do it, probably to, is there enough evidence in other games people like casual mode raids and dungeons yes hundreds do them every single day hundreds of times a day and in those games some raids can do them in their sleep and some find it hard Guild Wars isn't unique to that. The point is is a larger majority getting fun and reward out of it than without having a casual mode and the answer would be yes, we see it in every other game. Instanced group content died in GW2, because they killed the gold reward and stopped making new ones making it pointless to do any of them unless youve never done it before. It wasnt because mmo players dont like instanced content. Your accessibility, rewards and difficulty need to be such that the majority can handle it and in this game there is already content like that and its being done daily.
