  1. If easy or story mode for raids were to be accessible to casual players then they would be casual content. I doubt many easy/story mode players would move on to normal raiding, but the point of story/easy mode would not be to encourage that. It would exist to increase the number of people playing the instance in any form. I guarantee that it would.
  2. You are looking at it the wrong way. It's not about the easy mode being a stairway through which more players will enter the hard mode. You're right that this is not going to work (or at least not to the degree where it would be worth the resources spent). The real gain for raids is somewhere else. You need to stop thinking about hard mode population only, but start to think about the impact of increasing the total raid population (with easy mode included). If a lot of people get interested in easy mode, then the overall raid population would increase, and that might persuade devs that raids are worth spending resources on, after all. And this would benefit hard mode as well. Strikes, by the way, can't do that - because they are a separate mode. The bigger population in strikes can at best persuade devs to spend more resources on strikes. It won't persuade them to get back to making more raids. So that's the fundamental difference between strikes and easy mode ? What would an easy mode achieve that strikes did not ? An easy mode means people of differing skill levels playing raids. It means a larger raid population. This might, in turn, mean more resources allocated to raids.
  3. Hopefully this was an inexpensive change. Many things, just as minor, that I would have rather seen. Still, glad for those who like it.
  4. Second, the qualities you debate (which btw are debatable) are irrelevant in this context. Those things don't change the fact that SUVs are what consumers want, and that they sell really well. So it is with "casual raids". Them being worse than higher difficulty raids at being higher difficulty raids would not really matter - what would matter would be their popularity. And if you compare that to SUVs... well, those are very popular. Even if you personally happen to think they are for some reason worse as cars that some other car types (although i am not sure to what car type are you comparing them to, seeing as you mention both off-road usefulness and speed in the same breath) some of my family members bought them too, nothing but trouble and disappointment. even from the expensive brands.they would constantly break down or get stuck. they are overpriced toys, nothing more. Had my Trailblazer for years. Friends asked for help moving, took the kids to Disneyland, moving items from one place of business to another, so many other uses that I would not have been able to manage with a car or pick-up truck, all in comfort. Never had a significant problem with it. Getting stuck? I guess that taking any vehicle where it is either not meant to be, or where the driver lacks the skill to handle it, will get it stuck. I would argue that judging the entire class of vehicle by the issues experienced by a few family members is unwise. It is highly unlikely that they would continue to sell as well as they do if the entire class was garbage.
  5. Unless you choose, yourself or your group of friends, for fractals to work that way. I have one group of guildies and friends that enjoy fractals primarily at low tiers. Group content with a bit more group play to it than the open world. They, we, have fun in tiers where people feel challenged without feeling overwhelmed. It also is great for people who want to play around with alternate builds and characters with which they are less skilled and for which they do not wish to invest in ascended gear. There is no drive, no force pushing people, to higher tiers. Play whatever challenge tier you wish. I disagree. Sure it can, and does appeal to people looking for the top tier of challenge but lower tiers are only transitional content if you choose to make them so.
  6. I want a spider that can climb quickly over vertical surfaces and web sling! I am arachnophobic, but even so that could be cool.
  7. Ive got some from the betas, and a few from launch night. On an old hard drive though so a bit of a hassle to access. Probably should have transferred them over when I went SSD.
  8. Significant advance notice of something like an expansion, to perhaps build hype, makes sense to me. Adding a new skin or something similar does not.
  9. This. The ability for me, for example, to pay real money for something in game means that someone else with less disposable income doesn't have to. We can both experience everything in game (except expansions). One can choose to pay with whichever currency, time or cash, that one has available. This sort of flexibility is a good thing. I work as much as 100+ hours per week, which my bank account likes even if my wife does not (but she likes the bank account so I guess it all works out), so I am far more likely to spend some cash to acquire gems to buy a desired convenience or cosmetic item....and may very well trade my gems for gold. This enables the kid, person from a less affluent environment, or otherwise less able to spend large amounts of money on the game, to get the same stuff I can. This is the best business model, for the consumer at least, that I have ever seen in a game.
  10. That never happened even at the start of the game when you go to max level you were a mix of rare and exotic. My point exactly. Some people certainly did. How can the games stated goal be that your full exotic when you get to max level when that never happened tho?I assume your by max level would mean when people hit 80 right?Well, it was stated by ANet prior to launch as one of the ways in which GW2 would be different from other games, one of the reasons to buy GW2.
  11. No you do not. You are entitled to you opinion of course. Or they cost $0 per slot. Your choice. Sure there are. Their choice to do so. Over time one who chooses to play games that release in the future will need to upgrade their machines. Yes.

  13. Just to make sure I understand you....2.5 weeks after returning you were in full ascended, but that is too difficult? How long or difficult is it to get max raiding gear in your other MMOs? Personally I prefer the original stated goal for the game where characters, "by max level," would have acquired BiS gear.
  14. Up to the cap of 10k. I could complain that WvW rank is also capped at 10k, since in reality I'm way beyond that, would I prefer they remove that cap? sure, do I think they are going to? probably not, can I continue to play and have fun with the cap? yes. Personally I think that there is a difference between a third party telling two players how they can interact (in terms of trade of course) and a ceiling on WvW rank. That said, there are work arounds for the trade issue...work arounds that ANet has professed to not want.
  15. I don't think any item should be worth over 10k gold. The value of an item is based on what someone is willing to pay for it. Artificial limits take self determination away from people.
  16. What's the issue with the current system? Not attacking, just curious. The problem comes in when you have a harasser in game (or out of game) that follows you. Yea ... kinda had a few of those and yes I do block them but if they follow you to try to keep harassing you then, at least from I can see on my lists, they can still see you. The only good thing is since I have blocked them I don't see stuff from them ... others can thou. All because they followed me. If they are actually harassing you report them. If they continue to harass you report them again. If Anet does not act upon the harassment contact the authorities.] All of this predicated on the assumption that we are talking about actual harassment here. That said, it is weird that ANet provides tools to allow strangers to monitor you in game. I would not oppose a change to the system. Well to some in these threads it seems like even adding them to your friend list and becoming their follower is harassment.I recall someone complaining that people they had blocked somehow found them and kept jumping up and down on them all the time.I think that the term harassment is thrown around a bit too lightly these days. My kid sister, when I was growing up, constantly asked to accompany my friends and I when we went out. Should I have called the police to report her for harassment?
  17. Your poll options are awful. If you want to make a statement, do so. Don't try to hide your bias behind a BS poll.
  18. A game designed around active defense where your ability to recognize a threat and respond according....and then spams visual noise to prevent you from doing so is fundamentally flawed. A visual effects slider, or the ability to reduce visual clutter by turning off other players' effects would help.

  20. Anecdotal I admit, but I ran a very active full alliance of full guilds that had half a dozen guilds on a waiting list for entry and I don't know of a single player who didn't dye at least some of his weapons. That's an odd coincidence, because no one in my full alliance ever dyed their weapons. You sure about that? Not one player. Not one weapon?

  22. Because, "everything you loved about GW1," was not meant to include many of the most popular elements of GW1.
  23. No, it has everything to do with the politicians. Note that everywhere that politicians have not deprived citizens of the self determination to spend their money as they see fit and where politicians have not chosen to deprive property owners of the right to do with their property as they see fit players can get statuettes. I don't agree with this. Per definition, the statuettes aren't rng drop items, as they are a guaranteed drop. They just so happen to be bundled with an rng item, making them unavailable for us. It has more to do with the way that statuettes are offered in this game. I liked other suggestions where maybe Anet could bundle a statuette with a 'booster pack' for example in the gemstore, thus making them available for our region. It doesn't matter if you do not agree with facts. Fact: They were available in your region in the same manner as for everyone else.Fact: It was action by your government that made them unavailable.
