If you knew how to play catalyst then you'd know how to beat it too. It's certainly not unkillable by any means. It suffers from hogh burst spikes like most other ele specs do as well, and it suffers a lot from chill. The one condition that cripples most eles. (Poison is solid too).

Because people are selfish and only care about what they can or can't get. So with the if they can't get something no one else is allowed to mentality, it's sadly even something like this would be unlikely 😔 It would be nice to get something like it in the special category but probably there will people who complain just because it exists.

Hahaha you think they'll do that? After all we've gotten, like pistol? Nah, I'm sorry, it's nice to dream but they aren't in the business of genuinely reworking or updating old ele weapons anymore, they don't even do that dor the new ones.

I'm kinda sad pistol is only worth using on weaver at the moment. Was really hoping for an option to run quick cata with a bit of range flexibility but it's unlikely you could upkeep ee with it due to lack of finishers and cc options.

As far as I see there are 2 options, those you think it needs to be reworked and those who don't. Unless it was updated after your post.

It's almost entirely projectile based with no finishers I can't see it being used in pvp or wvw with a non meme build. That and it's slow...

They could have added confusion or torment to air quite easily but oh well.

There is a reason thieves had so many complaints when it came to pve about single target only. Also DE rifle is hardly if ever used in instanced content so that's not very encouraging. The whole thing is still a major let down imo. Only class that might make it work is weaver, but they use scepter in their condi build already so may be a moot point. Look at guardian pistols if you wanna see what they could have done with ele. I get that the only reason you're being so forgiving here is because you're obsessed with guns. Fair enough, but consider the majority of eles getting stuck with a lack luster weapon that may not end up getting used at all is kinda sad. I'm not a big fan of magic guns but I was still hoping it would be interesting and actually useful and bring something new to eles kit.

After seeing the preview, other than 2 interesting #3 skills in air and water of all places I'm really disappointed. It's 900 range just like scepter and in direct competition. If it ever gets used it will only be in pvp because scepter is more reliable overall. Most of the other bonus effects are uninspiring. Really only the ice road and air dash give it any real flavour. Making another condi mh was a mistake. But hey, my bad for expecting something more😅 I sincerely hope they either rework the vast majority of it to either be a power weapon so it is unique or seriously work on those pitiful skills they have on it now. One can't help but compare it to guardian as well now. What a waste of time and resources.

I think the issue was that most ele weapons already are selfish, ranged condi scepter mainhand, melee power sword mainhand, dagger mh is a bit weird and a hybrid but has one or 2 support skills. So what ele was lacking is a ranged power mainhand and a support mainhand. Now that said I wasn't keen on pistol being a support mainhand but was definitely hoping they would finally fill the misding power gap or if condi to even have pistol offhand to pair with scepter.

I thought it was rifle, not pistol as the 2nd, but pistol was the, well if we can't have rifle at least give us pistol club. While I always was and still am in the longbow camp, I prefer pistol over rifle...it's just that it sucks it's only a MH. I'd be a lot happier if we could use both, because we have no real offhands to really compliment it well at range for dps(if it indeed even ranged🥲)

Wvw is not the only game type, but since you mention it, most dps in a zerg are power. Condi bombs are less effective due to group cleanses.
