  1. No. We are not entitled to anything of the sort, so to say something like "we should have this" makes no sense to me. You might want it, but that doesn't mean you should have it. I don't really care when they want to share more information so long as its when they are ready to release it. I think at this point such details are volatile and can change several times between not and release.
  2. You know PoE2 isn't a new concept, but actually inspired by GW1, since only EotN was a true expansion in the sense we're all familiar with; Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall are all complete games in their own right that can be played either separately or in combination with one another, which is what PoE2 is doing. I do want to see a Guild Wars 3. Frankly I'm sick of this current era of games that want to remain relevant for decades, such as WoW. While expansions have always been nice, getting new games in a franchise has always been nice because each new game is built around new systems and you don't have to patch things in round about ways due to old coding or old designs. It gives developers a chance to go "Okay, what do we think worked really well in GW2 and what would we like to see done differently in hindsight?"
  3. I'm a returning player so my view is through the lens of what I see now versus what WvW was like as I remember it in 2012-2013. First thing that I would like to see is a rework to conditions; either in damage, frequency of application, or methods to combat them. Ideally, all three would be applied to varying degrees, rather than something like "Conditions now deal 20% less damage" which I think would be an awful way to go about it.Participation, while a nice idea in theory, doesn't really work. Building up siege for defense in a tower doesn't contribute anything, scouting groups doesn't do anything. It's pretty much just "capture stuff, don't bother with defense, and skirmish" if you want reward track progress. I'd like to see the system taken out and a new method of doing reward tracks implemented.Currently there feels like there is little incentive to defend nodes. It costs nothing to upgrade things, so there's no feeling of real loss when you lose that tower or that keep or even that camp. It's more of an annoyance then anything, and just means more participation credit when you flip it back in five minutes. Maybe this isn't true in every bracket, but on my server this is how it seems to be.I for one miss the lord being on the second floor in SMC; in the early days it was moved because of arrow cart defense from the third floor was too strong for all but the largest of map blobs to take down. With nerfs to siege damage and I believe a global cooldown on the amount of hits an arrow cart can have per second, I feel like the biggest reason for this change has been fixed. I'd like to see some of the epicness of taking SMC return. I always liked the idea of there being some PvE elements to contend with in WvW, such as the shrine in the middle of the borderlands, but since they were removed and there is a lot of wasted elements still left, I'd like to see all the non-mercenary PvE elements removed. Ascaonian ghosts, champion grub and oakheart mobs that serve no purpose (besides memes), centaur and skritt camps in the borderlands, and all of the vista and hero point spots that are no longer necessary since map completion was removed and you don't have a use for the extra hero points (my warrior has over 400 extra hero points after being fully unlocked). It seems to be the consensus, at least among the players I've spoken with, that WvW players see most of these PvE elements as useless and would like to see them removed.I do personally miss the orbs you could hold in the borderlands and would like them to return in some way. Basically just another thing to contest over besides nodes, and another thing to incentivize defending your keep that controls it. I would say just remove the warclaw but I know it is far too late for that with all the money people have invested into skins for it, so please find a way to make this mount useful in PvE (even if not in any unique way) and maybe just remove it from WvW. Have it be a nice bonus for WvW players to show off in PvE, but the game play it has brought to WvW has not made my experience any more enjoyable, and I've heard the same sentiment from others. Please, please, please work on optimizing the WvW maps at the very least (if not the whole game) so that we can actually enjoy three way zerg fights; large scale action is one of the biggest draws to the WvW game mode and you still don't have the technology implemented so that players can actually enjoy this. Heck, I'd like to see more players per map, but that can't happen until you work out a way to optimize the game for better performance. If that means putting in DirectX 12 support officially and not through a third party addon, so be it. If it means coming up with new ways of doing effects that cause less lag, so be it. Bottom line is you've made the announcement of another expansion to the game, rather than a brand new game, so we as players expect that we'll be playing this game for quite a while longer at least. That being the case, the game needs to take better advantage of modern improvements in game development if it is to maintain or even grow its playerbase in the coming years. Alliances have been mentioned for a long time and there are far more knowledgeable players that have commented on the topic so I will leave championing Alliances to them. I will say, however, that the more time that goes by and the more promises of Alliances being the fix to WvW we've all dreamed of, the greater the backlash will be if it does not deliver on the ever increasing hype around it.
  4. If you want WvW to get more attention, you will have to make a stand, and that stand will only matter if backed by your wallet. I don't feel that strongly about WvW that I would deny myself a bunch of other content that I would enjoy. Enjoyment is the purpose of playing a game, after all. It'd be a different argument all together if WvW was going away with the expansion, but that's not the case.
  5. I think they have a word for that... it's called a prequel :p But yes I think it would be fun to see Tyria before the events of Guild Wars, maybe an idea for Guild Wars 3.
  6. Look... I love WvW and I want more attention to it, but I'd be lying if I said it's the ONLY game mode I play. I enjoy the open world and really do want to see Cantha again.
  7. Got enough immersion breaking wardrobe out there, certainly don't want more! Like seriously, I don't need or want to see some thirsty furry running around on their charr in a speedo.
  8. I'll start with a brief background of my experience in Guild Wars 2 so that you can hopefully see where I am coming from with my views. I've recently returned to the game (well about two months now) and warrior has always been my main. From being the first class I played in Guild Wars: Prophecies to being the class that I've put around 2/3rd's of my play time in on Guild Wars 2. I've always enjoyed the look and feel of the class on a conceptual level. I've not played a lot of the game for a long time, so most my experience was back during the early stages of Living World Season 1, with brief returns scattered throughout as expansions were released. It's always been a game I enjoyed playing, but one that other friends didn't care to play with me so I'd get pulled away to other things. When playing Guild Wars 2 I've always been an Open World and WvW player. I've never had a knack for small scale PvP since I feel extra pressure in such scenarios and I know I play sloppier as a result, so I've only done a tiny bit of sPvP gameplay. My opinions on the Warrior are thus going to be focused on WvW in this thread. Ever since Beta when I got to play during stress tests, I've been a huge fan of WvW game play and the majority of my time has been devoted to running around Eternal Battlegrounds and the Alpine Borderlands (I have not done enough WvW since HoT to say I can navigate the Desert Borderland well). I am quite sad at the current state of warriors in large scale battles. Don't get me wrong, I know the class is desired (specifically Spellbreaker bubbles), but the fact that the class feels pigeonholed into one type of role makes me rather disappointed, especially when the meta version of the build is built around support heals and cleansing. That just doesn't sound like a Warrior to me. I enjoy the play style and am fine with running it to help my raid team in big fights, but I know I'd like to change it up and be a heavy hitting threat sometimes; after all I am a Warrior. As it is, if I want to be a powerful hitting Warrior that gets in the thick of things, I can't really do that. Even with double Endure Pain and double Balanced Stance through traits, I'm easily taken down in large fights because Endure Pain doesn't block conditions, the stability that Balanced Stance provides is easily gotten through due to the sheer number of CC's going out, and conditions are too easy to reapply once cleansed with Shake It Off. You can make the argument that this is not a problem of the Warrior being to weak and is a problem with conditions, but that argument has already been made many times and the developers have thus far seen fit to leave them as they are. If conditions aren't changed, then Warrior needs to be brought up to better survive through them. Going full defensive and support traits to survive in a zerg battle should not be the only way to play a Warrior, at least in my opinion. I know that one other build that is sometimes ran in WvW is a Berserker with greatsword and rifle to provide high burst damage. This is certainly more along the line of what I envision when I hear the name Warrior, but it also highlights I think the problem that Warrior faces when not playing Spellbreaker, and that is survivability. Playing this sort of spec feels very glass cannon and while that is fun for roaming players, it's not very viable in group play. I think this play style is good for players who want to roam in a havoc squad and pick people off, so I don't think it should change, but I'd like to see other versions such as hammer primal burst and some of the melee rage skills give the class more survivability options when running with a group. Perhaps having the skills provide might to allies and giving a barrier based on the number of allies affected or something along those lines could help you play the melee damage role in large scale PvP without making the Warrior a nightmare to face 1-v-1. To wrap things up I will just say I don't know the specifics of what should change, but I know I have this feeling that something is wrong with my favorite class.
  9. "I know your face from my dream.""Less violence I say, more violets.""I pray to the spirits but they rarely answer." I have to mute dialog whenever I stay in Lion's Arch for an extended amount of time. Sucks having to turn it off and on depending on when I want to hear story dialog. Wish we could get a separate toggle for generic NPC lines. Also, as others have said many times before, I miss old Lion's Arch. The architecture has so much more character and I find it hard to believe that a proud people like the residents of Lion's Arch would not want to rebuild what they had in the way that they had it.
  10. My best friend got super lucky with his guaranteed wardrobe unlocks, got both Volcanus and Eidolon skins.
  11. I vastly enjoy underwater combat in this game over any other I've played.
  12. Going to throw my support in for guildwarslegacy, I've only ever had great interactions on there with people (and one strange spam PM, hah).
  13. I feel like horses, while awesome and beautiful, don't have much to offer in uniqueness at this point. They're fast, but we have raptors and roleypoley beetles for that. I feel like the most generic mount we have is the warclaw and honestly I think horses should have been in that spot, but alas. If we ever get a reason to use beasts of burdens in GW2 then I could see dolyaks being the big heavy but slow cart carriers and horses being the leaner and faster cart carriers with less capacity.
  14. As a long time Guild Wars fan and in particular Factions I am very excited to see that region of the world again. That being said, it's too far off for me to get hyped up over it. While the devs having being working on it for some time, we the players know next to nothing about the content of the expansion beyond its location and name. While I'd love to be in a financial situation where I can just say "Take my money!" and put down a pre-order for the super ultra deluxe collector's special signature platinum diamond version that includes a dual sided Southsun Lady Kasmeer and Lord Faren body pillow, I can't. So I will give two thumbs up to the team and wish them the best and pray they don't overwork themselves during crunch time, but I'll probably wait until the week of release to put money down on it.
