  1. I' m not sure what the problem here really is. In most games, raids are not content for beginners, and that's fine. It's okay to actually be required to learn how to play your class and get some reasonable gear first. There's a lot to do in the game to build yourself up towards endgame content. And once you're there, join one of the training guilds OR try to get your own group together. If you aim to join the elite groups from the start, of course that won't work!
  2. If the OP think the jumping puzzle is too difficult, he's probably one of the people who quickly clicks away the info screen at the start - which tells you about THREE different difficulty settings.... And if you can't manage even the easy one, then that is NOT the game's problem. Even I can finish it, and I'm not a JP person. If you are so quick to dismiss the info the game gives you (bell choir is explained, too!), then it's NOT the game's problem. The info is there. In the actual game. Read it!
  3. Some things I would like: DRMs continue right after initial goals have been met (e.g. extinguish fires), instead of having to wait for the timer to finishsome better, interesting achievements tied to repeating this stuff again and again and again (maybe with some nice titles)And yes, some better rewards would be nice, too. I'd rather to the daily in Fields of Ruin, even though it's kitten, and get 5 tokens, than do any DRM. Have done 8 DRMs in total so far, can't find the motivation to do them again, esp. because the bosses take so long to die without actually being fun.
  4. I've actually been doing bounties in desert maps yesterday for the achievement and on the two maps I did it, I found organized groups, so it seems very much alive to me. If you look in LFG, you'll regularly find squads for bounties (talking about EU servers). The only map where I don't see that many players around is usually the Desolation, but that's understandable (up to today I haven't completed that map on any character).
  5. They never did something stupid like that before - imagine if everyone would have had to complete ALL the previous weapon achievements in each chapter to be allowed to progress the story. That's not going to happen - and if it did, the game would lose a lot of players.
  6. Sending people at this stage of the game - i.e. with mounts that aren't properly scaled damage-wise, and skills that kill ogres with one hit - back to a level 30-40 map to compete for mobs and events is also awesome... It wasn't fun at all. I did enough to get five tokens to exchange to unlock the participation thingy, but that's it. I can't imagine trying to kill enough ogres every day - they die too fast!
  7. I really had expected MORE. I think I would have preferred the "old" way - where you get a good chunk of content that you can work on. I would assume, this community event will also fail, unless they adjusted the needed participation.
  8. I think only the skins that you do not yet have unlocked actually show up in the vendor. I have some Ebonhawke stuff unlocked (e.g. the longbow), and it doesn't show up. So if you already have all the skins, you can't buy them again. Which is probably good - otherwise people would have unlocked the same skin twice.
  9. I assumed "The next event, mobilizing the Ebon Vanguard, will begin on December 1." would have some way to actually progress in the story. There's no incentive at all to participate in that. I was hoping for a story step to save my progress - because if I want to replay some other story on my main, I lose all progress up to now - and I don't want that. Guess it's back to working on my revenant.
  10. I still get the same options when I talk to the guys in the eye of the North - weren't we supposed to get NEW content this week? Is it just me, or is everyone having this problem?
  11. And the new skins... are they a joke? The bow skin is just the ebonhawke bow skin that's been in the game for ages!
  12. You can get them for doing dailies. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potion_of_WvW_Rewards
  13. From reading all of this, I think the OP is more toxic than any person I ever met in WvW. And if you get one-shotted ALL THE TIME, it's not because others are elite players, but because you probably are doing something very, very wrong and it might be an idea to work on your skills, armour and understanding of how stuff works. I killed people in WvW every now and then when I worked towards the ONE, single Gift of Battle that you need for a legendary. So am I an elite player now? Cool! Never thought I'd belong to that group. But I also got killed (but never with just one.single.shot!). Am a kitten player now? Oh no! What is it? Elite or kitten? The game more is players VERSUS other players. In PvE, you probably get one-shot by bosses all the time if you can't even manage to survive in WvW for a bit. But do you call those bosses toxic? Or the people who wrote the dialogue for them? Look at some of the insults thrown at you by NPCs! Very rude!I bet, in PvE, you just try again and again and again until you beat a mission - WvW is the same, just with real people behind the pixels that kill you. Big deal. I am sure none of them have a personal agenda against you, and most likely won't even remember your name after killing you. People here were giving some good advice, and they get ridiculed or ignored. So who is toxic? The WvW people who actually offer advice, or the PvE player who thinks everyone who kills him in a game mode that is meant for just that is a mean, toxic elitist?
  14. FFXIV has "towers" like that. They call them "deep dungeons" and there's a variety of achievements tied to them. You can get titles for getting them done solo, too (which is doable but very time-consuming). It turns into a grind, and is actually very, very boring. So I'd rather not have that in GW2.
  15. Why did you boost your first character? There's no advantage to it. Start from the beginning, which will introduce you to things bit by bit - and unless you don't give a kitten about story, you'll have no idea about who all those people in the stories are if you skip the core game. You're most likely dying because you have no clue about how to play your class, and also won't have ideal gear.
  16. I actually haven't dared to look into it in detail yet - but I still need the last few mastery points to unlock HoT and PoF legendary crafting. And some of those masteries might be a little tricky. But it's a long-term project anyway and I might try to find a suitable guild to help with some stuff (which is another challenge because every single guild I found interesting so far requires the use of discord or teamspeak - and I'm so not into that). I just really didn't make good experiences with trying fractals and dungeons so far (tried to solo some, too, a few years ago, but wasn't good enough in the past - that might have changed, as I've improved quite a bit since I returned a few months ago!).
  17. I am a PvE player - but I really do not see the problem. I knew very early on that I'd need a Gift of Battle. So every time big spender was a WvW daily, I went to WvW - done that one daily, and also other dailies if possible. Then I got my participation up to tier 6 - and generally spent about an hour in WvW on a day like that. I never grinded towards the gift of battle. Now I have it - just like that, no LEGENDARY type of EFFORT needed. Getting this is a lot easier than some of the other things you need for a legendary. I already have 4 gifts of exploration, too - and I actually DREAD doing some of the other things needed for a legendary as PvE players tend to be bigger bullies than the people in WvW. Not once in my time in WvW have I been called dumb, been harassed or told I should just give up by someone who just wanted to rush through content. In PvE, all three in one were my first experience ever when I tried to do a dungeon for the first time ever. Nice, right?Yes, in WvW you might get killed - so what? It's not a tragedy - I died a few times, but over the months then also saw myself getting better and managing to kill others myself. One fight even lasted quite a while. To me, it was an interesting experience - now I have the Gift of Battle, but now the harder parts will start.
  18. If you want a game where you can pay your way to the top, I recommend Lord of the Rings online. They have kitten like that in their store - and it's one of the reasons why the game lost a lot of loyal players.Mastery points aren't "I'm rich, you know" points. If you find this all too difficult, it's the wrong game for you.
  19. I don't know whether these lazy kittens are still doing this in starter areas, but I remember that I once had issues with completing a heart in a region because there was a dozen of these in various locations just around that one heart. I forgot where it was, but it really was annoying. It would be so easy for anet to check these out, watch them for a few minutes and then do something.
  20. Getting the Gift of Battle is fairly easy - I actually have it already (done WvW dailies, done a few runs where commanders said it's fine to tag along) - and funnily enough the gift of battle and gift of exploration are so far the only things I have for a legendary. I can only advice to not stress about it - it's fairly relaxed, and can also be fun.
  21. Was anyone actually brave enough to try and do another story with the character who has done all the kitten DRM stuff? I still need to do the episodes that now have voice acting but definitely do NOT want to lose progress, as I do not want to repeat that stuff again. Might be faster to catch up with my other character. She'll be 80 soon and probably get through the icebrood saga faster than Anet releases something to move the story forward and give us some sort of "checkpoint" to not lose progress.
  22. I just came to the forum, thinking that maybe it's a bug.... but apparently, it's just the "normal" new state. How disappointing!
  23. What class are you playing to get them down that fast? Even in a full group, these bosses take ages. And there's no way the Gendarran boss goes down in that short a time for anyone with the different phases it has.
  24. Core Tyria is actually easy to do without mounts. Just having the raptor already will help you to get around faster.Getting the Skycale or Griffon isn't something I'd recommend you to work on that early in the game. You need a lot of time (and patience) and a lot of gold (or in some cases, to save the gold, a selection of high level crafters - but Griffon is definitely 250 gold). I think, for the skyscale and griffon you also need the stories completed. I am not sure though as I only started with the Skyscale once I had it all done anyway and am not interested in the griffon. I knew I needed lots of map currency, so while I played I saved them all up, which later on then saved me the pain of grinding on those maps (that's something to keep in mind when you reach these maps). If you do too much in PoF, it will spoil the story for you, if you care about story at all.I've done core Tyria multiple times before any mounts were released - and also HoT. It's all doable, and actually the way it is intended. When I do map completion of the zones I like, I still often walk / run. But then, I might just be weird ;)
  25. Can't really speak for PvP much, and haven't done that much serious multi-classing in GW2, but from my time in other games, were roles are defined a bit clearer (e.g. healer, tank, DPS), it definitely improved my own skills, e.g. when I played a healer (after finding the idea terrifying) I learned so much about what to do as other classes to not be such a burden on a healer, what skills look like, etc.
