So long as this does mot become a form of “killproof”. While time spent in WvW may contribute to experience and expertise, it is neither a guarantee or even useful proxy for it.

People can already do this with your WvW rank. "Killproof" type things aren't huge in WvW outside of some guilds that may have a trial process. It's more about if your interests in the game mode align.

True. I suppose there isn’t much additional harm to be done by adding it, since as you rightly point out, there are a number of other measures and they haven’t been significantly exploited.

Currently Active player's WvW hours are used to help with determining World Status (Medium, High, Full) which directly impacts a player's ability to transfer into a World.  Full Worlds are closed to Transfer.

These statistics are very critical to WvW given the above detail on how it affects the game mode...imho

It would be nice to be able to at least view your personal contribution to these WvW hours.

I am convinced that individual WvW times are not tracked and they just compare the ratio of total server players compared to the proportion that is logged into a WvW map.

Looking at how they intend to move players around servers for alliances, they sure do seem to track this.

There is a difference between assigning an ID to a player (which needs to exist already, to check if the map is full and you have to go on queue) and logging the time between entering a WvW map and leaving that map (and adding this to "server activity time total") and saving that time to the individual "player.1234" account.

There is no reason to keep track of timestamps on accounts for kills, getting killed and how long you you have been active at individual maps. Even on PvE maps, where the location is saved (so you can appear on the same spot you have logged out), you are not tracked when it comes to time (and activity) spent there. Instances, like Dungeons seem to track more, since you can  re-join.

It is just more data you need to save and maintain. If it is not used for anything already existing in game, you will not program it to be computed and saved.

I mean, it's not like people can boot you from the map like they can in instanced content., and any squad that would waste their time on that in wvw to verify each member would be a giant meme anyways.

I'd like WvW-only death count though doubtful they'd track it.
