BobbyT.7192
Little light hearted poll, just wanted to see how many people out there spell it wrong. Before anyone saids Specter is how Anet is spelling it, they pretty inconsistent with the naming. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go get in my TRUCK, which is made out of ALUMINUM, because I need to go get GAS and COOKIES for my tip to the movie THEATER, where everyone will be speaking proper AMERICAN 🎆🎇🎉🏈 /s ...It's Specter. 3

Tails.9372
"Spectre" is just the french name of the e-spec so technically both are official names for it although calling it "Specter" would obviously make more sense for english speaking players. Just in case anyone is curious, here are the official names for all of the supported languages: english: Specter french: Spectre spanish: Espectro german: Phantom Edited December 9, 2021 by Tails.9372

It's the same with words like centre/center, litre/liter, and theatre/theater. There is a thing in French where you often don't say the last letter of a word unless that letter is e, hence why français is pronounced fran-say and anglaise is pronounced on-glaze (pretty rough, but you get the point). Edit: I just looked this up and whether anglaise has the e is more to do with whether the noun is masculine and feminine, so bad example but hopefully you get the idea. Edit: scepter (n.) 1300, ceptre, from Old French sceptre (12c.), from Latin sceptrum "royal staff," from Greek skeptron "staff to lean on; royal scepter;" in transferred use, "royalty," from root of skeptein "to prop or stay, lean on." Apparently a cognate with Old English sceaft (see shaft (n. 1)). https://www.etymonline.com/word/scepter#:~:text=scepter (n.)&text=1300%2C ceptre%2C from Old French,1)). Case of point for the french root for -tre Edited December 12, 2021 by Jugglemonkey.8741 Actually looking things up
Monarc.9726
The word spelt is not used in the U.S., unless referring to the type of wheat, we use the word spelled, so I assume you’re British, hence Spectre over Specter. Anet is a U.S. based company, so they use the U.S. spelling.
