So What Do We Do With Our New Siege Turtles?

Recommended Posts

They feel like novelty aside from some events that need them like Aspenwood event in 3rd zone~ although I'm not sure if it's even 100% needed.

They also let you teleport people and taxi them around. I own the turtle and I don't feel much value in using them in combat most of the time as I feel like I'm just missing out on tagging mobs~ the slam is pretty slow. I'm not really a fan of the regen-ammo on movement which ofc wont let you slam-tag things. Only the passenger can activate the 'fun stuff' with no seat swapping. I haven't tested if the cannons give driver kill credit.

The cannons give the driver experience and loot from what I've noticed.

I started levelling Engineer a few days ago and I noticed Siege Turtles have ridiculously high aoe dmg. The ppl using turtles in events in <50 core Tyria maps were oneshotting entire waves of mobs in defend/escort events. It made tagging mobs for exp a pain especially when you're levelling a character. I can see turtles replacing raptors for extreme aoe dmg mob clearing in events once more people get their turtles.

Sigh, I was running an alt through Queensdale yesterday when I saw someone doing this on an escort event there. It was the one where you escort Mona from the Trading Post to Claypool, fighting off several attacks of centaurs along the way. The centaurs attack in the same places every time so once you know the event, you know where they will be coming from. Someone was positioning their turtle at each attack point so they could one shot the attacking mob. That really did seem rude to me. I was running a level 80 through there doing map completion so I didn't need the exp. For any low level who did though, that would have been a frustrating experience.
