When are you going to make the game interesting?

I find the story to be interesting. People complain about both releases being spread out and everything being released at once. I prefer the content being released over time, not this much time, but over time. Releasing everything at once gets you the "no content" complaints when people playing for 10+ hours a day finish all the content in weeks.

I now it's all optional, no one is forcing us yada yada yada....but just look at the achievments we're getting since IBS
visit all the stuff on the map...then visit it again
fish every fish...then fish them again
here have some new weapons for each class...now kill 1000 enemies with them

If you don't want to look at achievements, have you met the new hip content that is rift hunting? The same event with the same enemies over and over and over again with no variety whatsoever.

I mean yeah, repetition is a consequence of shortening the cadence to "a smaller expansion each year", sure. But it's getting ridiculous at some point and more than that it gets old and boring real fast. If you don't want to call it grind, because it's not "2000hours or swipe" style of grind and you want to discuss semantics then call it bore, call it snoozefest, call it slog.

The shift in direction isn't due to developer interest, but rather community demand.

How can game developers be encouraged to add depth and creativity while players neglect every content that consist both in the entitlement of "casual gaming" ?

Eventually we have what we asked for, it's simply that when contents starting to arrive people began to realize that it isn't exactly the utopia they dream of, and the trend will stay on course while the majority of players maintain the same demand.

To be fair, I am not sure that "no content" complaints when people complete a release in a an hour or a few and then have months to wait is all that much better.

It's a fair point. What sort of achievements have you most enjoyed in past content which you don't think there have been enough of (or any of) in Soto?

Are we talking things like remaking Caladbolg, the Druid's Stone achievements? or something else?

I like "oneshoot" difficult achievements, or collections that have some lore behind and not just "go here, fetch that". But this kind of achievements based in doing the same exact thing over, and over, and over, with such high numbers that actually require you to farm... Almost as bad as the "pay for achievement" ones. That's more on the old GW1 achievement system, which actually GW2 improved, until recently.

not the op, but! i absolutely adored the steel warband weapon collections and the general meta achivo from Forged Steel patch, yes some a tiny bit grindy such as: doing the same mini event 15 times, drinking an elixir 20 times etc, but at the same time they fell in line with the spirit of the characters/events/items related (as compared to getting 100-1000 kills with a support weapon on engi, or a condi weapon on ele where the condi ticks killing the mob don't count oml) had randomized voice lines to keep things somewhat fresh (as compared to peitha whispering the same 5 lines directly into my inbox) and at the end ya got minis of the cat tank gang and a title. The weapon collections themselves were classic gw2 collect-a-thons, but were personalized to each member of the warband, had even more bonus voicelines, and all this fleshed out the characters to the point i actually cared about them, with honestly never really happens to me in this game with background characters. Fun side quests, fun characters to be around, and neat skins n titles making ya feel like they (and you!! the player) belong in this world. All that and at the time the patch still generally was seen as a flop by the community since in the end it was “just another escort mission” eh

From the top of my head? The Caladbolg miniquest, the Legendary journeys for H.O.P.E. and Astralaria, the Druid's Stone (was ok in concept, redoing the heart could have been shortened but was less tedious than some people make it sound like), Raid armor collections
I think I like the ones that have some sort of narrative quality to them the most. I mean I did grindy APs as well, I did most of the slayer achis and most of the weapon ones as well as the golden child. But I did those years ago and I'm not sure if I would do them again today.
Also, those repetitive achis have a strong psychological component for me. Let's take "The golden Child"(100 Tarir Metas) I had no problem doing that achi, I just did the meta once per day for roughly three months, it was rewarding and as a special bonus I dropped an auric infusion on my 98th run. All is well. If the achi read "Do the meta 50 times", then unlocked a second achi that read "Do the meta another 50 times" it would have felt a lot different and a lot more like a chore to go at it another time, if that makes sense.

That's why I said "not this much time".

So.. map exploration is grind, killing enemies is grind and fishing is.. grind? Are you sure you know what grinding is? Let me give you an example, having to bring a certain build with specific gear for one item, that's grinding, like UW Ecto farm in GW1, even though that's not that bad of a grind. A better example would be Warframe's later portion of the game.

Killing enemies, fishing and completing maps is general gameplay, not grinding. The problem with bringing up Rifts is that Anet has said from the get go that there will be an alternative to it that pays better, Convergences, I've done less than 50 rifts, that's including doing them when they popped up as dailies. I've done 3 Convergences each week when I felt like so, saving up the chests for Leggo relic and armor, that wasn't grinding either.

If your definition of grinding is "doing content X times" then pretty much every single games becomes a grindfest.

Agreed. I like these sorts of achievement collections and I also like it when the achievements are masked in some lore or story, or have some twists to them, rather than straight up "Do X Y times".

I haven't actually reached Soto myself but if it is lacking in these sorts of achievements/collections then that does seem like something Anet need to work on.

I understand they abandoned the collections for the HoT legendary weapons because they were taking too much time so presumably there is quite a lot of effort in putting together good collections like this. I get why they dropped them (tho it disappoints me) when they were faced with having to do many of them for all the different weapons and many players don't craft legendaries so would never have engaged with the content (so return on investment was low) BUT it's different with these new expansions.

Anet are being paid decent money for the expansions and any cool expansion collections they add (eg like the Druid stone, Caladbolg, etc) will be available to large numbers of players.

So good point. Hope Anet are paying attention to this complaint.
