Invisible footwear boxes are now around 7,000 gold on the TP. Up almost 100% this patch.

Though I understand why arenanet can't easily do something about this now. It's a hole they dug and its too deep by now.

But they can do something. Anet could increase the drop rate very slowly (over several weeks, months). This would automatically cause the price to fall over time. If it doesn't happen too suddenly, not many people would complain.

I doubt it was the patch though. Or was there anything related to the patch that made people want to buy them more? (Or reducing the drop rate to make the supply smaller.) Muist have been someone that randomly decided to play tha market - just at the day of the patch without a relation to the patch though.

There are other rare things in the game. Not needed to get them and the players decide the price. Would be best though to keep them dropping enough so it stays in the limit of the TP. (To avoid too many people using other means of trading that are not officially supported.)

Or do you think people want to use the invisible shoes with the beach wear that got released? Then the price should "normalize" - well as normal as it can get - once the first people bought all their stuff. The beach thing is limited to gem store users that like to pay a lot of gems for skins with limited use anyway which should be a minority.

There seem to be some jumps in the price recently: Seems like when it is at 9k some people already try to go a bit lower to sell it fast. I guess it is still less bad than for some infusions. Aren't those the onse where it usually is at peak (9999) all the time?

In every other part of the world we call that insider trading.

There are limits to where blaming the system or in this case the game developer is within common sense.

But when people start spending very high amounts of time and/or money for invisible digital item we have definitely sailed into some crazy waters.

Whoever is digging that hole, just let him dig and wonder. Lets leave Anet out of it.

1.5 year farm it with 2 accounts. 20 shrooms every day and nothing. nice drop rate. maybe this is broken?

Try 5 accounts and loot the TMs on every map they spawn in since they each have their own daily drop. Took that many over four years to get an Aurillium infusion. Feet are meant to be even lower.

Curious why you think anet is not responsible for this issue?

It was their decision to add an invisible shoes skin as an extremely rare drop instead of just adding a visibility toggle to gear slots other than helmet, shoulders + backpiece. Or even if it was added as a more common drop, it would have prevented it becoming so inaccessible. Scarcity, low supply + high demand have led to them becoming ridiculously high valued. So yeah, it is an issue that was initiated by the devs. How is this not within common sense?

Predicting that the demand for invisible slippers would go up when beachwear came out and buying up stock/hiking prices isn't insider trading.

Insider trading would be if someone at ANet knew beachwear was coming and stockpiled invisible slippers before the announcement was made, and ANet seem to have their own rules and safeguards in place against that happening (someone asked a dev in game whether they were tempted to buy Carcharias while the price was super low, knowing land spears were coming, and they said it wasn't worth risking their job for in-game gold).
