Kralkatite and Difluorite sell value stealth removed

Anet seems to think it unworthy of mention in the release notes, so here is an announcement.

You're absolutely right. I just checked in game. Neither of them have a vendor value anymore.

In fact:

The bottom of the wiki page for kralkatie ore was last updated May 21, 2019. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kralkatite_Ore It no longer shows a vendor value on the page for this item.

However, the wiki page for diflourite crystals still shows a vendor value of 1 silver 28 copper. The page was last updated on May 15, 2019. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Difluorite_Crystal

But in game it doesn't have a vendor value anymore.

Probably because the Skyscale collection requires 250 of each LW4 currency, and they didn't want people over farming them to sell to vendors for extra gold.

Or because they didn't want people bombarding Support with requests to let them buy back the currency they accidentally sold for coin so they can now buy Skyscale parts.

While I dislike stealth changes, there is a very good chance this was done to reduced the chance of accidental sales or uninformed sales to vendor.

I'll just repeat what I said in the other thread: They most likely wanted to prevent abuse as you can now buy the currencies, not allowing for a direct way of trading VM for gold and thus bypassing the trading post.

Why would you sell them anyway?1s28c is nothing, one must really be poor to have the need selling these. Even if you had a 2000 stack on your bank, converting them into magic is way more useful.

It can "just happen." Items in games are sometimes created by copy/paste, so they'll start off with the characteristics of the source object. If someone picks a non-ideal prototype and no one catches it, then there's going to be some clean up to do after.

Generally, in a bureaucracy and software, it's more likely that certain types of issues are due to "oops" rather than some conspiracy to deprive people of this or that.

It's all just speculative at this point, unless ANet has made an official statement about it.

For what it's worth, the API for diflourite & kralk ore shows a vendor value and is flagged as "NoSell"That means the wiki is correct and misleading at the same time.

The history on the wiki is usually reliable. Notable exceptions are when ANet makes an undocumented change (for any reason) or updates the API to conform to the original plan, which might be automatically updated in the wiki, without showing an edit date.

Indeed, and I can still sell legendary weapons to vendors for 1 gold. It's unlikely that the sell price was added accidentally and then removed because of that.
