Controller support ?

Hello everyone,

Did you know if GW2 plan to have a controller support?

I have a disease in my hands and after a bit of playing kb/m it hurts and i need to take a break. (raynaud disease)

FF14 have fully controller support and it would be great to have the same here.

You can easily use a controller as an emulated keyboard so it's already support on all games in existance. That includes GW2.

Have you tried FF14 with a controller? That's absolutely not the same as an emulated keyboard.

I tried emulated keyboard and even the steam thing for controller, that's not really playable.

Thanks, i never found something about controller though. I try to search with "gamepad" and "controller" but don't seems to find something related.

Arenanet are, or were, working on adding controller support but I don't know what's happening with it as it's been a while since I heard anything about the project.

But in the meantime there's a topic here with lots of discussions on different options and suggested key bindings: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/9417/controller

I also found several youtube videos and web pages dedicated to promoting and explaining different ways of setting up a controller to play GW2, but I've never done it myself so I wouldn't know which one/s to recommend.

I tried the way of setting up controller with 3rd party program but it doesn't work properly. It emulate a keyboard and mouse but it's nothing alike a real gamepad support.

I just wanted to know if arenanet even thing of this and it seems to be. i'll just wait then :tired_face:

Long story short, COVID interrupted their work on finishing it, though they said they were nearly finished. I'm not sure when ANet is returning (or if they have already) to work and in the meantime I wonder if this is something that will be part of the next expansion launch.

Hope they start working on it again. I picked the game up again but I'm old now .. the arm is not willing to play with mouse and keyboard hehe.

They wont the dev that was working on it as a passion project is no longer with the studio.

I use a controller to play GW2 as well. I use REWASD as a remapper for an Xbox Elite Controller. PM or mail me in game (I only check the forums once in a while) and I can give you details on how to set up and some tips/tricks on how to make the experience very smooth. I do T4 daily fractals on this with zero problem, am high gold/plat in pvp and do WvW every night in a fight guild to great results.
