  1. Same thing last night, just not as bad, because the fights were inconsistent, in T2 compared to T1.
  2. People just find a way to cloud around the tag and queue a map, for the tag who is on voice anyway and make their job harder, as their squad can't fit on the map, especially if the other servers squad has a strong comp and well coordinated squad. We tried going full open the other day, the ones not on voice just w pushed and got downed instantly giving free bags to the enemies, due to bad movement, so there's a reason why there are voice only tags. For coordination.
  3. Getting big lag spikes in T1 EU, since reset too. Even during two way blob fights, which makes no sense. Kind feels like fps lag at times aswell, but it actually isn't, it's the server lagging and trying to catch up.
  4. WvW and PvP aren't a selling point anymore in their minds compared to their Living story/ world stuff, like during the first couple of years after the game released in 2012. HoT got a new PvP game mode and WvW got a new map, that was 8 years ago.. Both for the most part failed, cause they planned to replace the Alpine maps, only to bring those maps back into the rotation. Stronghold hasn't gotten any updates since either and has been removed completely from ranked. The new features for the two competitive are the Elite specs and subsequent balance patches, that can go on for years, as they attempt to 'balance' those specs to try to level the playing field. WvW gets updates to rewards, because they were lacking compared to other game modes, so they will be continually worked on besides Alliances, which was dropped in 2017 or 18, until the project got brought back only recently.
  5. We're still at the stage of testing the backend systems with many bugs to iron out. The new system should allow them measure and control the populations better, allowing for better matchups in the end, but they will need feedback and to collect and look at the data very closely, to ensure things such as Alliance caps and population balancing is going to work out for the best. Hopefully the next beta will have the actual Guild Alliances, so maybe players, communities and will try and organize a bit better than this, when we get to that stage of the beta aswell. Although we have Communities inviting anyone to their Discords and Teamspeak channels, there is nothing you can do when organizing the kind of pugs, who just cloud, run around aimlessly, hide on walls, afk and queue up maps, even with the current Server Linking system. It's a good time to take an early summer break at least, especially if you have the worst kind of Matchup, in terms of open field content.
  6. Comms call out precise movements, dodges and skills, which require coordination against organized groups, like PVE Raids which require some skill, coordination and knowledge, except it's a Large Scale PvP. It can help new and less experienced players too you know, besides feeling like you are part of the group socially in an MMO. You do have a choice though, you can solo roam or join a chatmander; but even the latter isn't fun if you keep wiping. Closed guild raids aren't about being too 'cool' either, it's Raids ;where a guild is trying to learn and improve with a smaller set limit of players, rather than a full fat 50 player squad, which can make it too easy to run over smaller groups, basically want you think every WvW fight ends up being, but it's not fun being wiped, because you can't listen to calls by who is leading the squad..
  7. On the pvp side, they pushed esports for many years, even though it was destined to fail. So sadly, monetizing towards wvw support won't speed up development towards something like wvw Alliances, it's the amount of time resources, they want to use on wvw; which is has a smaller and niche playerbase compared to the PVE playerbase, even though it's the most unique game mode and best rvr/ large scale pvp mode in any current mmo. In terms of PVE content and the road map this year, it's still been quite lackluster especially last year post EoD, despite the sales from that and even more items dropping on the gem store.
  8. At least from what I've experienced, these fights guilds you complain about, open tags more often than not for everyone wanting to join an organised group, with no limit besides the squad limit and will help other people to find the right builds if they ask, looking to fight open field against similar numbers. The only thing they ask, is for people to join their discord channel to listen to the commander, that is leading. This is especially since, PPT (points per tick) these days is meaningless, unless you want to climb up from certain tiers for a better match up or to do dailies, rank up etc While you see PUGs, usually queuing EBG running around aimlessly, many asking if there is a tag, when they don't even join their own Servers community discord. I played when we didn't have these tools apart from community websites and Teamspeak. So honestly ,there's not much excuse for these kind of players to actually help themselves and their community, while being social in that way, not just by queuing maps and trying to cloud around.
  9. I've played this gamemode almost exclusively for the past 10-11 years. Sometimes the meta and balance changes, matchups or server linkings have been 'boring' or otherwise gotten stale, but it's a unique game mode in an MMO, that hasn't been matched by any other over the past decade. In my opinion at least, this game mode makes this MMO stand out, rather than the PVE content, even the 'replayable' content like Raids, living world or even dungeons, compared to other MMOs. There's not an comparable endgame like wvw, it's better than the state of pvp, due to it's unique and flexible pvp, despite the issues with profession balancing . Also, open field fights in WvW, can be far far more interesting than GvGs, we still see a decade later. They have turned more casual these days, compared to what it has evolved into these days, especially thanks to all the balance changes and elite specs. You can understand why people wouldn't play this mmo for months, nevermind days atm, if it's for the pve alone, even a year after EoD.
  10. It's not 'wasted' resources, it's lack of resources to fix and add new features to WvW, besides the first couple of years after the game launched back in 2012, especially when we had people like Habib Loew directing the WvW side. Also the Expansions bringing in new Elite specs, which just added more of a headche for the Profession Balance team, to balance fo alll the different game modes. The current Population balancing and all that, was in need Restructuring for a long time, Server Linkings were only a band aid, since they started testing that through the 'Beta' stage.
  11. Who needs alliances when we've just had over 200+ players and guilds transferring and spending gems during this relink, according to players registered on gw2mists, and even more queues after the new rewards update. Just kidding sort of though. To see nothing about WvW Restructuring in the Studio update is concerning for the future of population Balance in this current year, which was a concern for a long while, for this 'cornerstone' game mode.
  12. The queues have been ridiculous in T5 EU, even where there is nothing happening on the green bl most of the time.
  13. To be fair to Anet, Cornerstone or not, online gaming on the PC is rife with cheaters F2P, anticheat or not, even in games like Tarkov, where they keep coming back on new accounts. They should fix all the exploits for sure though.
  14. Way back, Anet made it pretty clear it the population thresholds can't be manipulated that easily iirc i.e players and guilds boycotting by stopping to play to open servers, but if alot of players transfer off it usually changes the status, apart from odd times. I would have to find that post though. Although it's almost not down to coverage and only play hours that's for certain most of the time, when there's alot of transfers in or out it does adjust quite quickly at least. I know you NA players think otherwise, but we've had servers stay full, with no link and drop drastically in activity and had mass transfers out in the EU in recent years, nothing changed until more and more people leave those servers. Some of you may confuse react, but it isn't as clear as people think about the thresholds, cause how they deal with thresholds and algorithms doesn't make sense at times, where you have full servers who are really low activity, on purpose or just because they have low morale with no link in the EU side.
  15. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2:_Heart_of_Thorns This expansion had pvp/wvw content 7-8 years ago. I doubt they will try that again though, over Living world PVE content, not even post expac, apart from balance changes, which won't bring in more players. We got a new pvp game mode and new WvW map, but both weren't well received. Stronghold ended up being abandoned completely and the Desert Borderlands had many bugs and design flaws, despite both having beta tests. I mean, there are f2p P2P games that gets new content more often that not, or are just better pvp games by design, so another expac focusing on two niche game modes as a selling point is sadly a bad idea, unlike back in 2015. Also, even with the support for GvG over the decade, it's never been quite big of a scene when it was created by the community back as a competitive sub game mode, since 2013, much like the amount of Wvw Guilds that are active anymore.
  16. Ironically Deso became so stacked a few years after that too that Guilds had to leave, even after tanking to the silver leagues, after SFR and Deso had lost a ton of guilds during summer 2013.
  17. In the EU at least, there's a couple of Guilds running 30+ or otherwise they run open alot of the time. It's still better than fighting a cloud on EBG or groups who just change map or waypoint away, with the same numbers. You've got to find whatever content you can get at least. Cause those first couple of years in WvW; which I've experienced, where you had maps queued up by so many open field guilds and a few open tags, isn't going to happen again.
  18. It was an map overflow which as different instances if it's full, aswell as a map for testing things according to the devs back in the day, when there were Worlds with more active population, but it turned into a ktrain map for easy ranks and all that, with not much point with randoms. I know servers/realm would ktrain at certain hours for their actual own world on a WvW borderland. Uplevels usually ended up there and sometimes open tags went there to farm kills there, if they had no content in any of the borders, it's also where people to knock players down the map, as it's design allows it, hardly the best representation of WvW though.ovrrall and it's mostly still a map frozen in time.
  19. It's just a week away from Christmas, so not everyone's going to be playing Guild Wars 2, nevermind play WvW either. Aswell as the fact, Matchups and tiers being affected by Glicko or something, after the Beta. Besides that, not many servers can hardly fill maps with a full or comped squad, even on a Friday night nowadays, with some maps being queued by random pug clouds.
  20. Stonemist is the best case scenario for defenders, upgraded to T3 with siege, a cloud defending it, with one banner and cannons on the top floor hard to reach, but it makes sense it's so hard to flip, fighting inside is so aggravating.
  21. Gandara is far from dead though, especially when they get a link, since hardly anyone transfers out of there anyway, including some of their large Guild who I've seen raid with 30+ at times and many other loyal players. They just are less active with no link, especially with one less Guild; who are on a break atm, but hardly anyone moves to Very high server anyway.. besides a certain Guild starting with O.
  22. Yeah, people started realising how irrelevant it became, unless it was during a tournament even then, you had one sided 'leagues' in the EU and player burnout. I mean there was more of a sense of community back then in more ways now, until there was drama, server stacking was still a thing and matchups were determined by Glicko and also random rolls at one point. But at the same time, the GvG scene hasn't become anything bigger, besides a small percentage of the population, compared to like 9 years ago, whom spend 99% of their time in EoTM anyway. Then again it's also because the active WvW population has dropped, thus we have lost so many WvW Guilds over the years and then also, many open field guilds seem to run over 30+ numbers aswell.
  23. It's, funny how you skip the introduction of the World Linkings Beta, to it's full form that we see now, which was only a 'fix' for the bleeding WvW populations and for 'balancing' purposes iirc. http://dulfy.net/2016/04/22/gw2-wvw-world-linking-beta/ Sadly though, everything wasn't perfect despite it being such a fun and unique game mode, 9 or even 10 years. I remember so much drama over so many things among in many server communities, but it's not surprising it happens.
  24. Didn't you just leave a community, that is split like crazy now, which to be honest started falling apart before we got these Server relinks? So does it matter, especially if everyone doesn't play or organize things properly on the same current server communities; which have been shrunk down over the years. Anyway, Guild Alliances still haven't even been implemented, so most guilds and pugmanders decided to do their own thing, while others have had temporary Alliance guilds before this beta, which was at such a short notice.
  25. As mentioned, the tournaments just led to bandwagoning before they started and lots of us burning out from it as a result, as it was mostly all in about numbers and coverage. Also how in the EU some servers dropped from low Gold to silver, just to dominate Silver with more coverage, when there were a lot more servers and tiers. They would need to be much shorter than they were, if they were ever to come back with less player and guild mass migration to even work.
