  1. I actually think that was a very intentional, they wanted to kill that trait. Maybe it needs a different attractive quality added to it and compete. I did remember one thing to fuss about..does anyone find f4 vacuum effect inconsistent range wise?? Maybe I am just too used to the old range..but I just find a lot of the times I thought it would work..and it did not? I even go out of my way to be closer and still sometimes it just doesn't work. Dunno. I do know random blinking while downed messes it up..or if someone vacuumed at the "kind of" same time it def gets messed up..I dunno I always feel there's a good chance it won't work. It's not smooth or reliable tbh.
  2. I thought it's an intentional nerf when I came back, because ranger try hards used to do all kinds of shenanigans in pvp with it...not sure though maybe they did it because the movement of it was "weird" for new playes..now it's an extremley boring two leaps like sooooooo uncreative my God..just try a little! Add a jaguar visual/audio hype effect and I'll take it. But saying it is dead..is that true? doesnt power sb use it for pve damage?..I think it was really dead in pve, this made it useful in both cases no?
  3. Healing scourge is super strong...I love complaining...but healing scourge is like too brain dead easy to contemplate needing "qol" improvements for. The only brain squeeze hs has is the reliance of f4 to heal or save it to vacuum the dead..that is it. The shroud pulse visual marker effect is annoying sure..but the fact that it pulses so many effects of your traits..it's too good I think it's fair the shades can't get the effects. Weapons wise sure..they are not "full support" but just think they have so many great value buttons..it's hard to fixate on what more can they get. I think if you experience playing other healers you'll realise scourge has it pretty good. Not that other healers are bad..just more "finnicky".
  4. It's really simple to me...anet rehauled (wording it nicely) the staff that originated what is actually captivating about the game..they were probably mad of how the monetization of this game went and decided to "take matters into their own hands"...and started investing on different "cheap low budget" tactics that they see other games thriving by. This started before EoD..and EoD is like the beginning of "decline". They appear to have just rushed replacing the staff and "forced" an expansion by people who were just thrown into the mix with no thorough guidance..that's the vibe I am getting. The gaming and entertainment industry in general feels like it has been taking this weird "bored, over it" turn of..."meh whatever anythings better than nothing...don't try that hard..just cash in..milk good original concepts to death"..since they crunched the numbers and know what is profitable for the least effort. I guess we can just call the game "old" and put it to rest. But the consumers not only cosign all this..they act as brand ambassadors and pr agents in the name of "positivity"...so..I am personally not expecting changes for the better. Soto was my "glad I didn't get EoD" cause when I played EoD beta the difference in quality was really palpable. There's a lot to enjoy about the the game..but I am personally over the model of "milking the good with bs" business frankly. That is not exclusive to GW2 in any way..but disappointed they followed suit. Money...sigh.
  5. After tinkering around the result I ended up liking is celestial condi herald, not renegade. I wanted to play renegade to use shortbow and honestly the charr "never surrender!" voice acting is hype...but..perma 25 might fury quickness with the regen/prot is just too good to pass up. The boons allow me to just take invocations 25 extra energy which I much prefer having the "breather" of that playstyle wise. It's also a lot more flexible when pugging in usefulness. Plus the spirits get weird with certain champs actually who insta kills them or ccs them or something..they just are not all that to me tbh....2 of them are like complete dead weight solo wise and if battle scars are not actually needed..seems even deader to me. I can see certain situations that renegade appeares to have a peculiar edge..but overall I much prefer the herald situation. Thanks for the tips again!
  6. daaaang I replaced just some pieces with cele and I would've never contemplated no battle scars. I definitely felt a massive difference. Thanks a lot!
  7. Hey guys, I am trying out the "solo champ" condi renegade build...I built it as the "metabattle build"...but I can already feel that it can be a lot sturdier. For example I replaced Corruption tree with Retribution for the "gain health while maintaining energy"...using the drain sigil of course. Wondering what interesting twists people have here if any..I am already regreting going viper and not trailblaizer...altho..I dunno if maybe I am just playing it wrong...it's def sturdy..but I feel like mirage or even the trailblazer thief has an easier time soloing stuff..and I read that this build is one of the strongest at soloing (not sure what actually is the strongest).. It also feels really miserable against condis like..is it good at specific things? don't get me wrong it does work but I thought it would be...op xD at least it would outclass the rest. I literally never play revenant but finding that build peaked my interest. Thanks for any tips!
  8. EoD especs made to be cooler, more hype, less lazy and complete. Ok forget that. Let's just start with Untamed unleashed effect not being a pet with sewage filled veins.
  9. I will repeat the notion that you need to clarify what kinda content you mainly play..I will also repeat the notion that condi druid is hilarious right now..I don't even know if your weapon super matters...if condi damage sucks in whatever situation..it won't be "cause you are camping shortbow" fault imo lol.
  10. Catalyst was *the* spec that turned me off the most of eod completely during beta. It felt like all over the place, copy pasta boring concepts...with the whole "jade sphere" animation feeling like an attempt at a distraction. I just was like..why is it called a catalyst??..what is the fantasy..couldn't bear it lol.
  11. Well the way I perceive elementalist is... If I spec fire with lightning, I want to fixate on being a power crit focused squishy feel. Fire earth I want to go for a condi attrition reselient feel. Water is I want to have the option to support my teamates while still having some threat to myself vibe. Could be by healing condi cleans or otherways support (Aura talent is the huuge). Water earth would be I reaally like supporting vibe. That being said obviously fire has the cleanse conditions with auras, burns blind, and giving might so it still has a support angle to it. Arcane is the I want utility to zone in a bit more in what I want vibe wise. It is the "make all my elements more useful" vibe. Obviously it's not that "cut n dry" you can mix up all kinds of qualities from all the trees. Before elite specs the vibe used to be arcane with two elements, especially cause of the dodge casts a skill talent. Well..and bountifull power lol. Especs wise Tempest is the more support "I love group play"...weaver is the "selfish" I am a pro 1v1 watch my leet skills can't touch this champ vibe (dunno if it still viable tbh)...catalyst is the I am sorry to say "ele is already complicated let's make a dumbed down version of ele all together, but "give it summon pokemons visual and a weird name for the glitter factor"...to me! It didn't really add an interesting vibe to the class but that's for the most part how I feel about EoD specs with a few exceptions. So for a generalist vibe..which is you know to be honest not a super duper great vibe to go for effeciency wise in this game..but whatever..I would cover what kinda weapon set skills I like overall (Staff is what I feel has massive variable effects) and how am I planning to apply damage first and what would I like to provide from a supportive angle if needed while running around. Water healing sounds like a safe bet, could be blasts to combo with any field for variable needs..the storms...the conjured weapons lol. The problem is a lot of eles damage got soooo nerfed that it's truly a pain to go for that vibe cause I assume you want killing things to not be exhausting, the game in all modes frankly rewards offensive approaches a lot more the defensive tactics imo..and a lot of classes do a looooot in one single button. So..I dunno. The best way to learn the class is to keep playing it till you catch the feel and start to develope which angle you want to take given what the tools are...if any lol.
  12. Ele's thing on game release is providing a lot of fields/blasts that can be comboed to buff/heal/status effects whatever all in one pack and in your weapons..you also could gives ele weapons to players etc. Back then you couldn't just get 25 stacks of might heals or a lot of things just like that. The problem now with a lot of classes is that some classes can do what you do and a lot more in a much more effecient no setup/buildup needed. Then Anet decided to start taking out "too unique" qualities of classes and either reduce their impact, remove all together, or pepper them to other classes with a forced, non creative -click that button you always have-..now you are the identity of the other class except there's no "detailed convuluted mechanics to it". So on paper sounds like balance but on execution the other class ends up trumping the original "thoughtout" concept, cause it's easier to not fail and any good buttons that made the class "afloat/unique" now makes that class/spec a lot more value. So you end up going like the hell am I playing "the complicated version" for exactly. That all being said Ele still has the advantage of having built in support and cc buttons without having to "pick". But again they peppered these kinda "good at everything" qualities to other classes that are easier to play...they don't want to play the "reward complex mechanics" anymore...they'd rather have talents/abilities be moba buttons that are easy to balance, and not have these "high skill, high reward, didn't see it coming, casual player alienating" situations breaking the game. I guess at that point you'd play the class cause you enjoy its fantasy and you are determined to make it "work". Which I must say is..not a great fantasy vibe/class feel to me.
  13. I think rangers weapon set is very cool and "rangery"...I just think after dagger/hammer it was about time to get a "ranged/refined" feel back..rifle hunter is an obvious different good look and different vibe from the "nature savage primal weapons" vibe...so double mace was annoying to hear, but it's probably cause of how longbow and ranged skills in general was annoying for them to balance...but they could've easily made it some interesting "marking" mid ranged not really dps I dunno shotgun "reveal stealth" or something feel but....they are also so hell bent now on making classes have nothing *that* unique to them anymore, it's remix land. Just pretending to release new content at this point. But agree with we don't know what mace will be playing wise..look at revenant's hammer it has some pretty weird vibe going for it. But given ranged weapons history, lol. All I know is I am not that excited running around with a mace as a ranger, I don't care if they are ranged or not, but whatever. I guess with hammer can go for more of a primal caveman "beastmaster" look and just pretend it was another untamed weapon set...the whole "ball on a stick" is just not super interesting for a ranger to me. But it is what it is.
  14. Ummm greatsword halo??.. Shaking things up is creating a new weird possibly busted who knows how it'll turn out concept..not some copy and paste but make the icons look different in the name of walking on eggshells for balance. I am over talking about boon/dps/defense justice and world peace all the time. Real life exists. I want the fantasy!
  15. Lol...you want alacrity base on staff..while chronomancers shield gives freaking might??? The jokes!!!!!
  16. Don't understand why people are going so hard at you...I agree rifle ranger would be so cool, you have the hound dog even...can larp so many looks and vibes...mace is so ugly and boring, like hammer already was ok..got it melee beastmaster kinda ranger...but mace now is just ewwww. I don't care about the "mechanics" of it..what? mace is what is going to make everything perfectly balanced?? Can't create lore for rifle?..gimme a break the game aesthetic is literally becoming harry potter angels, demons and unicorns!!. They don't care..they just want easy to balance snooze fest "new" concepts. This fear of shaking things up is what is making things so boring.
  17. Here we go with the constant "well all games are bad right now...so not bad right". Exactly..whoever buys anything will continue to do so. All I said is name this direction of adding random "bits and pieces" another term just to retain some brand quality, and continue to cash in. Can't really say anything about it if they never called it an expansion. If three expansions had a certain consistent expectation (EoD was like the beginning of pff I guess we have to do it that way again right)...then you throw this weak version, to me the brand is cheapened. It's not about X dollars. It's called brand reputation. Anyways, I was already aware that the talent that created GW2 is not there and what ANET is now prioritising with the game, so it's not like a shock really..but still just thought - maybe. You get what you pay for...so release anything with no consideration to quality just to cash in??? I am lost to why some consumers play pr for companies then complain well "games are bad?". I don't understand the logic of it, imo that is exactly what bred the mentality of companies releasing anything and cash in. And they capitilize on that mentality after they actually have a good well made product use the branded characters, aesthetics or whatever that built respect for the franchise to milk the product...it happens all the time..so fair it's happening here that is all, why not right? Well ANET agrees so all good.
  18. So...I got an email about the "expansion", have not played the game ever since they announced EoD..at the time I tried the elite specs in beta and just felt like..the quality of the game is probably not going to be what it used to be and just let the game go fast as I already experienced the "we don't care like that anymore but we will never say that straight up" treatment from games like this far too many times before lol. It was obvious that ANET started to go sour about how this game is not making them money for how much creativity they are pumping...and thus their priorities changed. Fair I guess. I tried in good faith to check this expansion out (from afar of course 🙂 ). I just want to say the minute I read "everyone gets to equip any weapon, no new specs though - teehee". I was like ok I see what kind of "copy pasta content, fantasy integrity be damned, no coding needed" we're going for lol. Very tacky imo, that alone was like yeah, I don't think so. I participated in some rifts (by accident)..and these enemies are reskinned (ugly - to me) models and just the concept of running around to smack rifts on the head??..ok...lol. "If you buy the expac you get to have generic sandals or some blue gryphon skin for easy wizard vault points" being thrown at my face as some interesting selling point. It could've been something that at least hinted at the new lore expansion aesthetic or something (think aetherpath/awakened...etc). Like this is not the quality of an "expansion" I expect from GW2...this is a "we might as well call it one", cause who ever is willing to buy anything will do it regardless. Anyways my "feedback" is I am not even reconsidering buying EoD since the "down hill/plateu" is as I expected. From what I saw, this not the work of an entity that actually cares or is invested in creativity..this is a you can't hate on it cause the game is free, just get it. Ok cool. Gotta make them coins, can't hate on that. But be communicative and honest...brand it as something else other than an expansion, and don't just mishmash tacky concepts to try to sell it as one..I guess that's "marketing" for you. I do miss the game..but this just further turned me off personally. I agree with the notion that it'd have been better off stating "from now on we are monetising living stories, cause we need to make a living" or whatever, and skip the need to introduce poorly thought off, new but not really, what are you up to really, tacky features. It cheapens the game. Me having to be extra cautious with how the "direction of game development" is changing, seeing that I have to be ontop of the antics my self. This was not the case with this game before - at all, it is very much so now. There is a lack of trust that you actually care about quality, and not just throwing stuff around. It is just my opinion...I still love the game for what it was and hate to see its quality smeared without thought...but wouldn't be the first so...who cares lol. IMO just invest in really good "living stories" with maps, strikes, mini interesting features even and monetise them 5 dollar at a time or something...I don't really know..but I am over feeling this game's whole line of defense is becoming "well it has no sub so good enough".
  19. Yeah the it "costs nothing to me" mentality is imo what makes companies think...well god kitten why should I bother being so kitten creative and paying people all this money when a mobile game using flash makes more money just cause it uses popular cute franchise like characters/vibes and is mind numbing enough to certain people to squeeze wallets. I was surprised that EoD is a thing at all I thought gw2 is done..no shame in that...gw1 ended at some point. But I personally sharply lost interest in gw2 when I saw the especs preview...there was a seen it before design vibe "pruning" if you will and I abandoned ship immediately it is not my thing, this didn't feel like the prior expansions. However I am realising a lot of players play games for reasons I personally don't connect with and so many games -forget gw2- are so mechanically 'simple' (literal walking simulators with whatever stories no replayability or even online presence) yet they charge in the 70$ range and I see players still praising the game and doing all the pr for them by mauling any negative opinion as "mean ungrateful people"??? The target audience that pays whatever for whatever is no joke and can't really blame them for targeting that kind of consumer instead of the well maybe it's not worth it ones. I played gw2 cause it stood out in so many ways compared to other mmos it felt like gw2 is always trying to be the "cooler" mmo...but I think it's not interested in standing out anymore just gauging how can we not use up too many resources/remilking yet make profit. Can't really blame them..but...personally not interested. I in general avoid prepurchasing/early access antics..all that stuff is a no go for me no matter how good a game looks or established a brand - "here is my money I'll wait..a few months....for who knows what surprise"...what???. My mouth agapes at how people throw their money so freely, am I really that poor lol. Fishing and turtle feel like shut up and take my money memes...and that's a kitten good meme.
  20. Tweaked and buffed is not the terms I want to use for these specs. They need to feel conceptually cool and make sense and create a new full fantasy vibe. It is not a bunch of random technical abilities you are wacking on then giving it a random pretentious name to pretend ow btw this is a rpg, where is the flair for design. These are "I don't care I just want to do my homework then go to bed I'll copy some of yours in the morning before class" especs. Now the chances that they'll get more love in the future??? What's going on current ingame..does not make me optimistic...at all.
  21. See you in the ranger forum... For real though...it is pathetic that I was like ok...untamed is not that bad because I tried the ow so horrible catalyst...this is where I am at mentally with this game xD. GW2...please...breathe...don't leave.....please...then again..that is the nature of life.
  22. Whoever picked catalyst....I will keep you in my prayers. I wanted to pick none..but I realised I am not strong enough to face that reality so picked spectre.
