  1. Add a few obstacles like Mines Areas where it's too shallow: a) Long section - have to disembark and run to the other side; b) Short section - have to speed up to clear the shallow section or will have to disembark Fueling checkpoints where you have to a) Get off and grab a beer from a NPC; b) Refuel Anything else that'll make it more than just simple zooming through the tracks.
  2. Hah! I'm pretty sure there are bears in Australian zoos. They may not be native to the area but I'm sure they are living comfortable lives being pampered. Not to mention Koala bears ( just a technicality they're not real bears).
  3. Someone who has played for only a year can have exactly the same full set of legendary equipments and build as someone who has been around since GW1 started. Granted the bonuses such as gold+, karma+, xp+ and mf+ will probably be lots greater (depending on the individual AP). I don't see how the differences can be absurd. The newbie just need to grind to get those equipments. The stats will be exactly the same. Grinding in this game to get the items you want will be no different than grinding in any other games. Also, remember that Ascended and Legendary have exactly the same stats. So it really doesn't take that long to max out the stats for your gears.
  4. If you know where the ziplines are, very fast way to get back there from the waypoint
  5. Yes. Have completed both regular and Avid achievements on that map. Didn't really take that long. Always within 1 or 2 runs. Never reaching 99 Party Catches before getting them. I do load up on FP though, however possible.
  6. Seems everytime someone does not agree with your narrative, you'll totally ignore what they have to say, and use certain words to subtly deride them. Not just to my comments but to others as well. I had chosen to ignore them. So, I'll just ignore your post henceforth. As you said, "hitting a wall", trying to debate you.
  7. I run with groups that list on LFG. Granted I join early so as not to waste my time with repeated failures. And also look first for commanders that I know are knowledgeable. If none are present, then I just join a random group. After yesterday's win, my personal success rate is 89.36%. If I'd to discount the first 3 losses after the initial release, my personal win percentage is at 95.12. I'd attribute it to being extremely lucky if this was base on just a handful of attempts. But it's not. I join the meta almost daily. If you're experiencing close to 60% success rate over this period, then perhaps it has something to do with your squad. How you structure it or whatever. And as someone who has led lots of meta squad (not DE's), I do know many do not read squad messages from the questions I'd received from players eventhough I do lay out the steps. It really baffles me why your success rate is so low if you're an experienced commander for the meta.
  8. The meta scales according to how many are at them, not on map. AFK players on the map are inconsequential unless there's not enough players doing the meta because others can't get on that map, then it's not a meta map to begin with. As I'd stated before, you'll see on the top-right window on your screen stating how many "Heroes are standing ready". Those are the counts on top of Harvest Temple.
  9. Discord are not essential to successful runs but it helps. Also, no one are required to talk, just listen. In fact, you don't even have to listen if you don't want to. I'm not interested in listening to most of the chats anyways. Not interested in other's life history. Really. Just basic instructions by commanders when needed on the few occasions. If any commanders are doing a running commentary, he/she will be muted fast enouigh. As for the meta itself, I sure hope Anet does not listen to the vocal minority and totally nerf it. It's one of the few interesting and enjoyable meta, for me anyways, where you don't have people just showing up to get a guarantee win. Or worse yet, afk until the final moment just to loot the chests. It's a meta that requires participations and cooperations, not just showing up and mindlessly hitting. There's enough of those world bosses around where you just need to stand in one spot and press 1. Those are just farming mobs, only a little bigger.
  10. So, it's nothing more than a rhetorical question. Since we both know this openworld meta cannot lead to such a test group. If it is, then it won't be openworld. EDIT: Just wanted to add that such a case group will necessitate stacking a group so the chances of successes are reflected by the results. This is no longer a fair or random test group since you'll be manipulating the data to ensure such an outcome. And the question of why is already answered: data manipulations.
  11. I did misread your post . So ignoring that, let's look at this: That's a false premise. You are assuming the compositions are the exact same, thus giving the same performance. It is not, hence the difference in successes. Same commander do not necessarily equate same performances, unless it's a closed instance and all members of the squad are exactly the same. If they were showing the same performances, they'll achieve the same results more likely than not.
  12. Not at all. If that's the case, then they're not good or bad groups, just simply average groups. Good groups' winning percentage are in the high 90s. Bad groups' winning percentage are probaly in the low single digit. A good group will know how to overcome bad RNG. And consistently win with approximately 5 minutes to spare. To the question of why good group still fail? Compositions. You can't always control who are at the meta. If enough players fail to listen and do not know the mechanics, then there's a chance it might fail. A bad group succeeding? Again compositions. If it's lucky enough to get enough who understand what to do, then there's a chance of success. Now for the average group who might win some and lose some. The commander probably have enough knowledge to lead the squad and does a few things right. However, there are many things the commander is bad at or neglected to do. Again, it comes down to the composition of the group. If enough of those in the group knows the mechanics, then the chances will be quite high. Otherwise, look for lots of frustrated players. Average commanders ignore thornhearts, fail to make the right decisions whether to stay at the head or move to the tail, often do not assign splits to the groups and do not stress the importance of killing sub-bosses at the same time, etc., etc. People focus on commander's tag and follow it. Make wrong moves repeatedly, it's magnified because others will follow you. And ultimately, expect a fail meta.
  13. That just made me scratch my head and go "huh? That made absolutely no sense at all . I assume you're ascribing the 6/10 from the purportedly 60% success rate. And asking why a "case group" is failing 4 out of 10 times is totally flawed. A good group will not fail 4 out of 6 times. A bad group will not succeed 4 out of 10 times either. It is the average of all the groups put together, not just 1 group. You simply cannot assume every single group will have 60% success rate. And use that number to represent the average group.
  14. The Harvest Temple phase scales with the number of players on top, not with how many are on the map. If you look at the upper right side of your screen, it'll tell you how many "heroes" are standing ready just before the fights. Commanders asking players to consider leaving the map, is to get the rest of the squad onto the same instance. No one can force you to leave. If you're fishing and have high party stacks, then ignore the request. There are usually a few on meta maps who are not there for the event.
  15. I think we all understood what you meant. Just adding some hilarity to the discussions. 😊
  16. But if someone can give a 110% effort.... It can be done because I've seen and read about it many times, so it must be true.
  17. Check the wiki pages that I linked below: NEW KAINENG CITY Cleanup Duty - Check the wiki pages The last entry on the page is an extra. The achievement is totally achievable Ocean-Fresh Sashimi - You're probably looking in the wrong locations. Check the maps on the page. ECHOVALD WILDS What Did the Shrine Guardians Say? - I've completed them but after an update, they seemed to be bugged now. Just have to wait for them to fix DRAGON'S END Tsunami Dodger - Has never worked or been fixed since Day 1 SPECIALIZATION COLLECTIONS I've completed every single one of them and had no issues. Special mention to Avid/Saltwater Fisher and Avid/World Class Fisher achievements: Need a couple from both of them as well. Not worried about the achievements but do agree the drop-rate is too low considering the amount of hours I had spent on fishing
  18. Requiring LI and KP for a mapwide meta is absolutely silly. I've only seen a couple that asked to ping a couple of legendary items but do not kick if not done. Commander just place those in smaller subgroups knowing they can handle a particular split. As for LI and KP, only seen 1 commander demanding that. Didn't bother joining that squad although I have them. Doubt it was very successful since it was on LFG for a very long time and only 1/2 filled when timer started. There are many squads that are very successful without requiring proofs of any of those nonsense for an open world meta.
  19. They did try with the Training Grounds in Seitung. Combo, Dodge & CC. It forced you to learn the very basics, which if everyone paid a little attention, will know which skills to use and when to use. However, many at these metas still do not dodge and totally ignore defiance bars. Combos? Fuhgeddaboudit.
  20. Of all those I joined, less than 1/2 used Discord. And none of them will kick you for not having it. I do join the channels if they have it, and so far, there's only 1 group that I will actually listen to. The rest, I stopped joining their discord channels. Discord is not my thing either. Just convenient in some rare cases. Very few actually used it for call-outs during the meta. It's more that they are too impressed with and like listening to their own voices. Same as streaming their game-plays. Yeah, right, I totally enjoy hearing you talk about your boring daily routines or watch you play your game, instead of playing my own game and having fun. Assuming the commander's ego is so huge that they demand you join their channel or will be kicked, just leave the squad. Not necessary to be in the squad to join the fights.
  21. Did I say you can learn RNG anywhere? I was refering to this quote where it stated that "You can't learn DE". And yes, you can learn the meta, deal with the RNG and WIN. Honestly, I'm baffled why some people are constantly losing this meta. Did you just join the meta without a tag? Or did the tag just pop up because someone randomly decided to make it a meta map 15 or 30 minutes before the event started? Or did you join a LFG group advertising "Meta Taxi"? Did the group that you joined, the commander didn't do anything except have a commander's tag? If it's any of those, then you're probably wasting your time.
  22. What an hour long mandatory "waste your time part"? We do it to ourselves by going there early to get into a good group and then complain about it. The prep time for Dragonfall takes just as long. You just don't think so because you get some little chests of little value each time. Try going through the sequence from start to finish and see how long it takes. The only difference is the meta there is not on a fixed schedule. And the rewards are given in stages. You can't learn? Strange isn't it that quite a few regular groups that do the meta daily have winning rates in the high 90%? Personally, I just randomly join LFG groups, and so far as of last night, have won 34 out of 39. Of the 5 loses, 3 were at the very beginning right after episode release. 2 of them were after the updates: 1 at 1% because comm made the wrong call. Another was just a mess right from the start. Good groups usually finish with at least 3 to 5 minutes left on a regular basis. If it's impossible to learn, none of them will be doing it daily. Myself, included, since an hour and a half to 2 hours daily is a significant amount of time wasted to daily losses. Just to clarify. I tend to look first for groups that I've run with previously whose commanders are knowledgeable, takes the time to do proper subgroups, lanes/splits assignments, proper marker placements and waystations on the arena, call-outs at all phases during the escorts to the final fights, etc. Also, always a bonus when they have lieutenants to help do call-outs.
  23. Almost all metas, people are there at least 15 to 30 mins early just to ensure they are on a meta map. Even ley-line anomaly which takes 2 mins to kill. Many metas failed for a period of time until people started learning and getting used to the fights. Dragon's Stand, Dragonfall, Triple Trouble, Drakkar, etc., etc., etc. Six months from now, failing this meta will be a rare occurence except on non-meta maps. And people won't be going there as early.
  24. Time gates or not, you will never retain Sprint people. They get bored easily and move on. They might return after a long hiatus, either for new contents or because they got bored with other games. These are the kind of people that you'll see in lots of pay-to-win MMOs. Spend stupid amount of money to get the items so they can be the best. But very few of them will stay for long. If they can buy their way to the top in this game, that's what they'd be doing, so they can move on.
