  1. Read through the threads. Plenty of suggestions to improve your chances of a successful meta. If the types of groups you joined constantly proved to be unsuccessful, stop joining them and save yourself tons of frustrations. LFG is very useful for finding squads to join but it'll depend a lot on time of the day when most people run metas, eg. Monday morning, you'll probably find few or any decent meta squads.
  2. No codes are perfect. It's virtually impossible to account for every single permutations. You tweak them to improve, or to account for something unforeseen. Or are you suggesting that anything that has been out a while, and still see tweaks and fixes are a failure? If that's the case, then the whole game is a failure. Any OS, apps, etc. you use with your PC "failed rather successfully" and is a "spectacular fail". Good organized groups have close to 100% win & totally unorganized groups have close to 0% win. It's the average groups that get 60% win-rate.
  3. That logic will dictate that I should have a private jet as well if those billionaires have them.
  4. Same here. I'm constantly switching mounts on-the-fly depending on the map & situations. Don't use griffon or beetle much except for fun. If I need to get somewhere fast, it's waypoints first. Jackal, warclaw, siege turtle and springer, those are very situational but they do get used a fair bit. Main mounts are Skyscale, Raptor and Skimmer.
  5. Tbh, I'm fairly surprised at the number of unsuccessful DE meta attempts still. I do the meta almost daily and the next win will be my 70th. And this is done with various LFG groups, and even on the rare occasions with a few squads I find on maps. Although I will priotize joining groups I'd run with before if I know they are better organized. I won't join a tag that pops up on a map less than 30 mins before start of event (for obvious reasons such as sufficient time to acquire map buffs, etc). Perhaps more successful groups are formed at certain time of the day. With quite a few listed on LFG after reset. You do not need 10 separate subgroups but it helps in organizing boon distributions, as well as splitting for lanes (3), Voids Phase (4), Prismatic Crytals Phase (5 + middle) and the Champion Phase (2 & 3). But if the commander can assign all the splits beforehand, then it's easy to know where you should go for any of the phases. Not completing the kills (or filling the prismatic crystals) at roughly the same time will mean re-doing and thus losing lots of valuable time. The success rate is probably only for Harvest Temple fights. Pre-events are pretty straight-forward and will fail if there's not enough people doing them, or are so disorganized (all on 1 side and/or ignoring same-time completion requirements).
  6. Some boxes will not be visible until interacted with. I posted all the exact locations on Wiki not very long ago, indicated by a Green Arrow, for all similar achievements for anyone who had difficulties with any of them. Seitung: Spiritual Childcare New Kaineng: Little Foxes in the Big City Echovald: What Did the Shrine Guardian Says? Dragon's End: Dead Play
  7. Played lots of smaller MMOs but never really got into the larger ones for various reasons. Favorite will always be Myth of Soma, from January 2003. Heard lots about GW2 from players in those MMOs but never tried it until the release of PoF. Never looked back since. Loved Blizzard games starting with Warcraft and was so looking forward to migrate to WoW. Joined beta. Played for a month after the release. Just didn't like it and went right back to Myth of Soma until it closed.
  8. It's not a matter of "I have mine, so you'll have to work for it as well" reasoning. If all remotely difficult or grindy items or achievements can be bought with gems, then what's the point of the game? It'll be basically a pay-to-win game. And if players do not have the resources to buy gems with RL money, then they'll have to farm for gold. And let's assume for a minute that you can buy skyscale from BLTC. How much should it cost? 5k gems. Maybe just 2k? Now, how long will it take you to farm enough gold to get the required amount of gems? Probably someone will come up with T4 fractals being a good gold source. So, how long did it take to get to T4? And then farm them? Or any other good sources for gold farming. The amount of time it'll take to acquire enough gold will be lots more grindy and time-consuming than to simply try and get it through the achievement routes. There's absolutely no routes to fast gold farming that do not require initial grinding. If any remotely difficult-to-acquire items are just given, then again, what's the point of the game? "You have yours, so I should get it as well with hardly any effort"? "Other MMOs give them for free, so I should get it as well"?
  9. I'm sure everyone knows Content Guide is merely a compass but a compass that is tied to any active story. With the story constantly re-activating, the compass does not show map events unless "Personal Story" is hidden. Can you elaborate what you mean by UI? For me, that includes the compass. Only way for the Story to not show on the UI is to turn it off in Content Guide. Those encountering the bug of the story constantly re-activating have to keep fiddling with Content Guide if we wish to just view map events on certain characters.
  10. I don't think you fully understand the situation. This is a BUG that just recently cropped up. I have no wish to disable "Personal Story" in Content Guide because that will affect all of my characters. I want it to be on for characters that are in the process of doing certain story for achievements. Those characters that have completed any other Story Journals will now have LW S1's Flame and Frost repeatedly being activated on map changes. Clicking "Quit This Episode" will temporarily disable it. And I have no wish to even start, let alone do the story on those characters since I've already completed it on one of them.
  11. Majority of players will not encounter issues such as this. However, for those who do, it can be disheartening. It's just amazing that Anet would not take a pro-active step to eliminate any form of stalkings/harrassments. Also, why some people would think it's not an issue just because they had not encounter it? If it does happen to you, then it's a little too late. If you block someone, there's usually a good reason. And also because you do not wish to interact with that person in any form. Is there a good reason why you have to interact with them against your will? Suggestion: If you block someone, then They can't add you to their friendlist. Blocklist will not show any details regarding them either - i.e., to prevent reversed harassments. You will be invisible to them on any list including LFG, guild, squad, team, etc. (and they will be invisible to you as well). They can't join your team if you're the commander. And you'll be unable to join theirs as well. They can't kick you by assuming command of a squad you're already in. They can't see any of your chats and vice-versa. They can't email you and vice-versa. If you block someone, then you'll be on their block list as well - to prevent someone from blocking/unblocking repeatedly to message and harrass the other person. You can unblock the other person at any time but for the above conditions to disappear, it'll require both parties to unblock. There will be a time limit before you can unblock someone you just blocked - eg. 7 days. In other words, absolute zero contact.
  12. How can it be a better flyer if there's so many conditions/restrictions? It does excel in certain area but overall, it's definitely not a better flyer.
  13. Just to add that even if it's true the mass exodus from the farming causes map closures, you'll still have 1 hour with the stacks before forcefully relocated. It's only a problem if you had planned on spending a few more hours on same map fishing.
  14. Although my main mount is Skyscale, I actually find it most useful when used in combinations with other mounts. With keybinds, dismounting and changing to next mount which are better suited for the terrains can be done very fast with no loss in movements speed. Change to Raptor, Beetle, Griffon on-the-fly as the situations require.
  15. Will try to list all the main advantage of other mounts first: Griffon - Incredibly fast movements in open areas with enough elevations. Jackal - Blinking for evading enemies and very fast movements up short slopes. Can use sand portals for fast travels. Falling off a cliff? Blink to safety. Raptor - Most fun mount on uneven terrain. Able to leap over a large distance, change directions in mid-air and stop on a dime. Pulls all nearby enemies in. Personal favorite especially when farming in maps such as Bitterfrost. Roller Beetle - Zoom! Zoom! Traverse across small area of water. Breaks barriers. Siege Turtle - Structures with breakbar? Piece of cake. Skimmer - Great for underwater travels and explorations. No fear of quicksand. Like Griffon and Skyscale, will not be dismounted when falling from an extreme height. Springer - Great initial CC on bosses. Warclaw - Deliver good damage on groups of enemies with Battle Maul in PvE. Exclusive mount for WvW. Now for Skyscale's advantages in no particular order (consolidating all points posted above): Better climber than Springer. With mastery, can reach heights that Springer cannot. Pinpoint landing In hostile territories, excellent for afk. Quick at evading melee mobs. Ability to mount in mid-air - similar to griffon. Best at navigating uneven terrains. Better flyer than the Griffon. Able to view vast areas of the terrains for faster movements to objectives. Combination use with other mounts such as Griffon - gain height and switch for faster travels. Will not be dismounted if falling from great heights. Similar to Griffon, Skimmer and Jackal's blink. Only mount able to collect volatile magic from reality rifts effectively. Annoying crowds in safe area by hovering just above and behind them - filling up their screens and deafening them with the sound from wing flaps. Showing off your new skin by hovering without any inconsiderate Charr or Norn blocking everyone's view. Be lazy and let others do the major work. Then land before the fight is over to get credit/loots. Notably at Ley-Line, and formerly at Dragonstorm as well. Being copied by that other MMO. None of the other mounts compare in versatility to a Skyscale.
  16. All mounts have their uses, including springers. For certain metas including DRMs, where the boss has an immediate breakbar, it is second to none with its hard CC. Answering the OP, skyscale is the most versatile mount. Once you have it, it'll become your main mount. Aside from several of the points already mentioned by others, I find that it is the best at avoiding mobs to get to your destinations. Chances of being unseated on other mounts are very high compared to a skyscale. Either hover or land on the smallest landing point while looking for a safe spot to land. Need to get to a vista that's perched on an extremely narrow area? Skyscale's your answer. It's a better climber than a springer. A better flyer than a griffon. Can travel faster than any other mounts over steep slopes. But it sucks at swimming.
  17. No, it wasn't. It was a response to my initial post Vidit made, and which you later did. My answer was to clear up the confusions. I know it's not important but being somewhat anal about certain things...
  18. First and foremost, Anet is a business. As any smart businesses should, it caters to contents that majority of its customer base use. That's PvE. PvP/WvW is not ignored by the constant updates and the upcoming Alliances for WvW. If that mode of game-play only attracts a small proportion of the players, then it's reasonable to expect very little focus on it as well. Also, why would players who are only interested in PvE advocate changes for game modes that they don't use? I do lots of WvW but very little PvP. And would love to see more done for WvW. However, I'm realistic enough to expect an extremely small percentage of their resources dedicated to it.
  19. Maybe as a solution to prevent unintentional losing of fishing stacks: You do not lose fishing stacks when changing instances - same as Jade Power Charges, which used to be an annoyance. Fishing stacks will only be reset if logged out longer than 10 minutes ( for DCs, slow loading, etc.) Limit amount of ambergris available from leviathan farming per account.
  20. I've been in several groups over the years when we /gg, and hardly anyone knows how to get back to that fight. Yes, all routes are very easy to learn in T1 but I doubt many will take the time to do so, unfortunately. As for the Sandbinders, as I mentioned above, I'm referring to every single ones you encountered. There are 4, altogether, I'm not including the one that's no longer there. https://ibb.co/sqzcbYg - To those who are confused as to what I meant when I mention 4 Sandbinders. 1 is the initial one after dropping down. 2 & 3 are where you jump up to engage them. The normal route, 2 to 3, might seem a long way to run but it's actually not very. Many have problems getting back to 3 from Reset point. Note: There used to be 5, the additional Sandbinder just below the Reset point ( respawn is actually on top of the building just to the NE of the word Reset) on the map, making that one #3 for the run originally and the one after the shortcut #4. https://ibb.co/z7ZzZB8 - For more clarity: 1 = 1st encounter after 2nd mistlock; 2 = After initial Amala & Palawa Joko to the rescue; 3 = After shortcut jumps; 4 = Final fights Hence the title "Blindly following content creators and guides...". There are tons of awesome content creators and guides. I make use of them often. And similarly, there are tons of less than useful guides. Things change in-game rendering the guides obsolete, or the guides may not be optimal. What I'm trying to suggest is, if you do make use of them, don't treat them as the only way to play the game.
  21. ⬜ Don't show this again! Totally agree with you. There's quite a few that'lll keep popping up when you gain new skills. First couple of times, understandable. But if you do them on a regular basis, it just starts to get annoying. Gang War meta when you get the siege turtle is a good example. I don't need to be reminded after having done them countless times.
  22. All trash mobs drop decent loots in fractals. And I was specifically referring to Molten Boss and Urban Battleground. A group of 5 will decimate all of them fairly fast. However, it pales when compared to fractal encryptions, etc., but people will still spend more time in the openworld farming trash mobs that give even less valuable loots. You see lots of groups running past especially at T4. Not so much on lower tiers because it's still baby-steps for many doing those.
  23. I posted this topic and used fractals merely as examples. This is for all contents: strikes, openworld meta, raids, etc. Many are using the same tactics and when questioned, the answers are "because everyone's doing it that way" or "Idk". No one here is saying that here. I find them extremely useful at times. If your guide is good, then it's good. What I'm asking is why so many are using the same tactics without understanding why. Try killing them all on your next run and see for yourself. As, for the Sandbinders, please re-read the initial post and response. As for the pillars, why do people hide behind them? Because they learn from someone. And why do they go to the left although it's farther away (crossing the stairs instead of straight down and also farther away from where you have to jump up)? Even if that's the one they see first, there's more than 2 pillars. They choose the left because they see others doing it. So, they'll keep going there the next time.
  24. I do agree that it is mostly player teaching player issue. Content creators may not create these tactics but by making them popular, especially for newer players, they are a big part of the equation. I don't disagree but they learn from somewhere to run around. The point I'm trying to make here is that if the group has a couple full dead at the bottom, or get wiped from the champions, then they'll have to navigate up from the beginning again. Yes, we are all used to skips on practically all fractals now. No, it isn't. However, you really do not save that much time by just skipping them. And as i said, the loots are pretty decent. I do fractals almost daily. The 1st Sandbinder is close to where you drop down before going to face Amala at the pillars.. 2nd is after the jump from the pillar room. 3rd is after the shortcut. For normal route, you do not jump down to the shortcut but jump across instead. 4th is at final room. Nope. As you enter, they are straight ahead down the stairs; left and right. This is not about Fractals per se. The list is just an example. Content creators may not have invented the tactics/strategies but often they rushed out to be the first to post what they've seen. Some are excellent and they do update their contents. However, I've seen many where they don't. And people looking for guides will learn from them, especially if they're popular. And older videos have more views/likes, so many will assume they are the ultimate guides.
