  1. Not required. But you have to fill the green progress bar, so doing events with others in a public instance will be very much faster. Besides, it is rather difficult to solo events in there. Alternatively, you can just find a public instance that's almost completed. Just run all the way to the last fight and then enter the protal to reach the top. This may not be easy to do because of the mobs.
  2. Which implies that a sizable portion of players agree or there will not be an extended debate. Right?
  3. Does your partner have Disable Area of Effect Rings checked? Aside from that, maybe a client repair may resolve it.
  4. I doubt that. I do Fractals practically daily and the only complain with Sunqua is when it appears with T4 and Rec on same day. Or paired with Shattered Observatory because of the lengths. Aquatic Ruins, almost guaranteed to see a negative reaction.
  5. 2 minutes? You'll still get the exact same complains. I suggested 5 and 10 minutes in one of my previous post but you obviously missed it from your tone: Maybe if I frame my argument in a more elitist way, y'all will get it? Agree with this. Disregarding metas in other zones, it is impossible to do all 4 EoD comsecutively without missing portions of it. You just assume that's everyone's mindset if they so much as disagree. Try reading the rest of their comments. They may disagree with certain points but that doesn't mean they don't have issues with parts of the meta itself.
  6. Cosmetic auras generally fall into three categories: auras, hue filters, and skin textures. The latter two do not stack with themselves when affecting the same thing, while auras do, and the three groups tend to stack with each other freely. - Wiki
  7. Yep, you'll find a LFG squad listed under Seitung almost 24/7. Underwater? The most hated Fractal Instance is the Aquatic Ruins. The only dedicated underwater Instance. It's a very easy Fractal though but hard if players do not swim together especially on the luminous plant path. Easy run to sub-champ if travel slowly in group and kill all jellyfishes.
  8. OP already realized that: And did indicate in the reply that the he/she is aware of the solution now and incorrect assumption.
  9. Yes That's incorrect. It is a random drop: Rusted Necklace of the Mists. So long as you have it in your inventory, you'll not get another. But if you delete it, there's a chance for another drop. I'd deleted countless of them from my Echovald Resin farmer's inventory. It can be useful for those who wishes to repeat the mini dungeon but are very forgetful of the location. Can be a useful tool for doing one of the dailies: Daily Echovald Wilds Void Slayer as that's the only area to do it.
  10. Is it that hard to implement a confirmation for a friendlist request, the same as when someone request a party? There are certainly ways to block/avoid but you shouldn't have to do so. Having to go offline just to avoid one person is never a good solution for obvious reasons. Blocking is also never a good solution. I have tons in my friendlist from those adding me because I tag up a lot. Do I have to go through the list every single time if I just want friends to be able to see my status?
  11. For all those who thinks this meta is too complex, too restricting, too hard, too long, too raid-like (whatever that means), etc., what do you propose the solution should be? Extend the fight timer? But isn't one of the complains that it's already too long? Make the meta Instanced? What would that changed if you want to do it? You will still be subjected to the same conditions as it is now. And then what about the openworld? Have a nerfed boss fights without needing any map buffs? Surely you do not expect to receive the same rewards then, right? Just regular world boss loots but the ability to get the turtle egg upon completions. Would you choose to participate in the OW version as opposed to Instanced knowing that the loots you receive will be very poor in comparison? It can't be the same if the OW vs Instanced are so different in terms of time/difficulties. Or are the objections merely so you can get the same rewards by basically simply attending the meta?
  12. Why wouldn't you avoid the obstacles? You would with any other mounts. What's so different about Skyscale that you would blindly ram into them? With practice, like everything else, you won't even hit anything if you give it enough clearance. Been a long time since I'd experienced the dreaded wall-cling when flying to a destination.
  13. All meta requires LFG to get those doing them on the same map. If the population cap is not so tight at DE, it'll be no different than any other meta: hop on the map at any time and just click join. Only reason squads form earlier than at other meta is to make sure those who are doing the meta can get on the map. Boon distributions? Not required but it helps. Some squads will have only a few subs with quick and alacrity Explaining mechanics? Some commanders do but most do not except give the very basic instructions that are no different than at anywhere else. Long preparation phase? Not required and some squads don't even bother. Just get 5 stacks before Escorts which will take 10 minutes. It takes about 25 minutes to get the map to full readiness, if the squad do it. Doing events there are no different from farming any events for loots on any other maps, be it at Drizzlewood, Dragonfall or whatever. If the drops are very bad comparatively to other maps you farmed at, then that might be a reason against it. But it's not. What same requirements? Asking for quick and alac, if available? Most squads do not have full complements. And just proceed with whatever is there. Would you do Raids if you don't have what you asked for? Raids successes require familiarity through training for all. DE meta only requires a few who knows the fights to lead. Most maps that are non-meta maps will feel empty 90%+ of the time. Find me any map that you can just map into which has no major events and will be very busy. Again, if you gave up on it months ago, what basis do you have for comparison? And who is everyone? I see full DE maps everytime I go there for the metas. Same as at other maps. Mostly empty if no metas. Again, the same as everywhere else.
  14. There were many who were expecting a sudden huge influx of new players from Steam. Although it would have been nice to see that, I really didn't expect that to happen for that exact reason. Older game and most people who are interested in MMOs and wanted to give GW2 a try probably already has. Steam availability might entice some but any large increases will have to rely on the marketing of this game over there.
  15. Although I do agree with this, commanders have to keep it very brief. Seen a few commanders try to explain the whole process as if they were writing an essay. Majority will just ignore it if it's a wall of text. Every single "community" is a very small subset. Those who raid, or do TD meta, or Dragonfall meta, or etc. I do believe the cap is at 60, judging from the number indicated on the UI on Temple Top. Seen it only once at 59 but usually just above 50 but lower number probably indicates out of squad players who had not or will not be at the fights. You can only receive 1 statuette per week from each EoD map. Regardless of the price of the Summoning Stones, it is still one of the best map to farm even without the meta. Fast chain events all over the map that are extremely easy to get to with mounts, especially roller beetles. Add in the 60 daily pure jade, tech and shrine guardian chests, the easy mini dungeon (especially with contributor %), the farming nodes and fishing, it is a highly profitable map relatively.
  16. You absolutely do not need to complere the whole Battle to advance. Absolutely no story requires group events to complete, as I mentioned earlier. For this part, you can even solo it although it'll take a while. All you need is to fill the green bar by completing events in there and you'll be able to proceed. Just so there's no ambiguity, I used an alt to do the story so I can take a screenshot: Battle of Lion's Arch story progression. Note the UI on top left that says 7/12 sectors recaptured and I got the completion. Soon as you get that, the instance location at Grand Piazza (middle of the map) will appear, as shown in the bottom picture. The problem is there's a green location marker near the main north entrance when you are in the story, leading many to assume that's how you proceed to the next step.
  17. Just a fyi: you can right-click the video and choose "copy video URL at current time" for the exact placements. All stories do not require any group instances. Only need some of those for achievements.
  18. You do not need a paid account to use that but you do need it to post. One of the main reason I disabled emoji voting after noticing the ability and the trolling (yes, it does happen). The forum population is very small. Any "upvoting" or "downvoting" can be skewed in a big way by just a couple of dedicated "voters".
  19. Making an unsubstantiated claim like that, you're definitely over-estimating your skill level. While it may be a possibility, how did you arrive at that conclusions? You have absolutely no way to compare yourself against the whole playerbase. The number of players you'll interact with even if you had played for 10 years will still be an extremely small %.
  20. What you're preaching is just the obvious. Which is what they were intended for and how they're supposed to work. Threads like this appear constantly on this forum because too often, it's not used that way. And this is upsetting to some as it creates confusions. It doesn't matter one iota if it's the "social norms" and if it works elsewhere if this system creates too many issues. There's always a better system. No emojis = No confusions.
  21. Here's the thing: What you wrote works in an ideal forum where everyone follows conventions. If you've read through all the comments, you'll see some of the reasons why the system is not really useful. A big reason why we keep getting threads on this topic. You can post a simple factual answer to a simple question from someone else and get a confused emoji from someone you had a debate with earlier. Best thing to do is get disable it, like some of us did through 3rd party apps. No emojis = no confusions.
  22. Maybe check through the Guild Wars 2 Soundtrack Full. Trahearne's Reverie at 3:03:57, the 2nd last on the listing?
  23. Timer is only tight for less organized groups. I do think they should change the reward system to something like what I suggested: Or Extend the timers. Add 5 mins or even as much as 10 mins as a 2nd phase and if cleared, get the Hero's choice but only 5 Major and 10 Minor chests (as opposed to 10 & 20). That should give most map squads a very decent chance. And if still fail, just go do HoT meta instead. If map groups are unable to finish the Escorts within the current time, they really do not deserve to attempt the final fights. The Escort events scales rather well and can be easily completed by a handful of players at each lane.
  24. It may seems like cherry picking but it is still a very good benchmark to use as a comparison. Aetherblade and Gang War metas are extremely popular. They are done daily and at every meta events. You use the phrase "the actual popular metas like the HoT ones", completely dismisses EoD metas out of hand and assumed they all do not fall into the popular category just because they're EoD metas. By what metrics are you using to back up your claims? LFG? There are listings for HoT and those EoD ones at all events. Empty maps when you map onto during metas? It applies to every single meta. Players switch to meta maps and non-meta maps are deserted. HoT maps included (Go check it during meta events at HoT on a non-meta map if you doubt me). Those data may not be conclusive but they are not irrelevant.
