  1. Currently he's sandwiched between Dragonstorm and Tequatl. It's a minor thing but if possible he should be moved 15 minutes ahead so people can do either of those events and Drakkar too.
  2. The thing GW2 has that keeps it next to FFXIV and WoW is that you get to keep your stuff even if you logout for a year. The other part is that it has an unparalleled open world experience with somewhat action combat. It is actually unique and that's why people can even justify playing it next to other mmos. The worst part about GW2 is that you could swear the company wants it to die by having the worst marketing I've ever seen for any product, and by that I mean it's non-existant.
  3. A lot of people are wary about the future of this game, it's kind of like a gacha game that looks like it's end of service time soon. Hopefully the expansion coming up can show this game has a good future
  4. They made a meme about this on Reddit you know
  5. I don't understand this? FFXIV has healers that mostly DPS and buffs on a 2 minute cycle. Nothing broken there and it's currently the most popular MMO with dynamic boss encounters. You can put your fingers in your ears all you want but nobody wants to play boon ball.
  6. I have a disabled friend who would probably play this game but can't use mouse and keyboard but can work with a controller. It's a shame there's no controller support, especially if FFXIV can do it, this game is way more action focused so it would benefit from it..
  7. Half the studio got fired, most of the people that made the original game were already gone but the rest got let go due to having higher salaries. The people left are trying to pick up the pieces and trying their best. They rehired some of them, and then they quit after having too much put on them. Anet isn't an entity, it's a studio of a great and wonderful developers. I've known some of them, and my friends have too. As a person who started from Prophecies, it's hurt my soul what these guys have gone through.
  8. My phone probably changed a word again, it was supposed to say: "the original team that made the game was axed"
  9. For two weeks* Releasing new content patches every two weeks, that only lasted two weeks was a cool idea in theory but horrible for developers and new players. Regarding GW2, I dunno pretty much every mmo I've played has drastically been reinvented at some point or another. Look at WoW classic that was a response to people disliking the changes to WoW. I've been playing since Prophecies and at this point I've probably played like four different interpretations on Guild Wars games lol. The original team that had made the game was axed by NCSoft awhile back*, and that team mostly made GW2 in response to all the stuff people disliked about modern mmos. Some of that is still there today, but mmos from 2008-2012 are very different from those in 2023. I do think GW2 is kind of all over the place right now though from years of things being started and dropped (Sunspear place in LWS4 was supposed to be a long-term hub like Arborstone). I'm going to ignore balance discussions because they're a hot topic but it does seem like the new team wants to go back and correct a lot of things that were left to the wayside. Development takes a lot of time and planned resources so it's probably too soon to tell (for instance, even FFXIV needs to save major class overhauls for expansions due to the time it takes). Maybe after the final patch of the upcoming expansion we'll have a better idea of the direction it's going.
  10. I think a large issue for pretty much any player is that the UI needs an overhaul, items/bags need be trimmed down (also we have a ton of runes that are useless, who needs +% damage against specifically dredge lol) and maybe merge some currencies similar to dungeons. Likewise, too much information for this game is on third party websites. You shouldn't need to go find Snowcrows to understand how the devs are expecting your spec to be built and balanced around. At the very least they could implement some sort of recommended gear guide or premade builds to get started with. All that being said, the easiest and probably most rational idea is to remake the boosting process so there's some sort of tutorial option, especially for accounts with no level 80s. It doesn't need to be expansive either but it'd be better than dropping them off in the Silverwastes only to get completely destroyed in HoT content. If you give people a free level boost, they're probably going to use it. Not really much you can do about that after opening Pandora's box.
  11. I'm probably waiting a bit, I haven't really enjoyed any content for awhile now so I'll wait and see what they come up with. With the conversion and tax this expansion is like $35-37 CAD give or take, so it's not as cheap for me as it is for people in the US either. If I do get it, I imagine it will be after all the content has already launched.
  12. I got the Skyscale awhile ago, but I think something like this is okay. It allows Anet to build upon older systems instead of constantly making new ones to leave in the dust. Hopefully there's something nice for the people who grinded for it though.
  13. I actually played it for a bit last year but a lot of things like UI and graphics just have not aged well lol. I dunno about a remake but a single player remaster would be pretty cool.
  14. It's going to be really hard to sell people on buy 4+ expansions and a cash shop all at once in the future. There's too many games out there competing for your time and wallet, and while short quick expansions are easier to market, it's going to be harder to bring new or returning players in when they've got a truckload of stuff they have to buy. Most MMOs will give you all the content right off the bat, and while subscription fees may seem expensive, not every player remains subscribed for the whole time. I myself on pop in around patch days for FFXIV. With the cash shop, GW2 has the chance of potentially being more expensive in the long run. GW2 used to favour taking breaks with horizontal progression but with shorter content cycles to pay for, it'll actually be more expensive to return to it. Now that might not be an issue, but I don't see the value with the current content we've been receiving in recent years. I'm hoping this means that we'll start seeing some higher quality products. I wouldn't mind it then. Regardless, they do need find a way to condense how many purchases there are because eventually it's going to look messy.
  15. I don't think a lot of people mind paying a bit more. Seems like the common worry is that either there's going to be less content overall as expansions are just living world with extra steps, or that it'll cost more for what might be inadequate content. My personal worry is that it'll start feeling closer to a subscription game if they expansions are small, frequent and more bite sized, especially with still putting stuff into the cash shop. A lot of people seem to think that when it comes to subscription games people keep it active all year long but usually my friends and I only come back for a month or two during the patch cycles for FFXIV (same goes with content for streaming services and what not). GW2 might start competing with that but without the "meaty" expansions ever on the horizon. Not sure if I'd like that. One of the benefits of those sub games is that if I take an extended break from them to play other games, I actually get multiple patches under one month. For GW2 under this new model it actually might end up being more expensive for me (alongside any cash shop purchases) in the long run ironically. Ah well, still have to see what's coming and probably too soon to judge.
  16. They have a free excuse for a voice change from what already happened in HoT by simply saying that she had lasting damage. No fridging required
  17. There really needs to be a meta/world boss character model scaling. I can usually keep it a bit higher these days from the DX11 changes but any sort of mass gathering always requires dropping the settings to the lowest. Either that or optimizing the engine to handle that kind of content better lol
  18. I think I play FFXIV more than GW2, and farming sim games more than both of them
  19. A better system would simply be to have a "queue for meta/boss/map" system that basically just randomly groups people once it has enough to get a map filled decently. Most people just want to join the ones in LFG because usually every other map is mostly empty due to multiple maps being open. A grouping system could potentially alleviate that. That being said, I think the overall problem is that when people mass join LFG stuff it leaves a portion of players with no where to go/nothing to do. Instead of events becoming dynamic they've turned into 30 min waiting sessions so you can actually do the content. Shouldn't be so frustrating for players to join in and out of open world content. There's some irony knowing that Dragonstorm basically has this exact system
  20. Bluntly put, they blend it too much. I have contrast sensitivity and I can barely see them half the time, let alone with all the effects going off. I just see a big blurb of orange so I spam dodge and hope for the best and my eyes to correct to somewhere safe. That's not really good, or fun from my perspective and I imagine all the effect spam makes it difficult for most regular players too. FFXIV recently has been changing UI colours to be darker and also add colour blind options. I don't think it's really game breaking in any capacity to either make the AoE circles darker or allow us to adjust them. It benefits everyone but especially benefits us who can't play properly currently. It's definitely an accessibility issue, but after doing the last map meta for EoD again, my eyes just hurt. I also did some strikes earlier too, I could barely see the markers popping above my head or below me. Light orange does not work. Please, make it anything but light orange.
  21. Eh with all the studio issues it was always going to seem a bit rough. Ironically though I remember people complaining about the lack of events and empty maps back when PoF came out. I think EoD did a better job here imo. Evening during launch time both The Desolation and Vabbi were pretty empty and the only thing people were doing was Griffon related. If anything, it's actually a good thing if an expansion is like a LW season. As a whole, LWS4 was better than PoF the base expansion (excluding the mounts), and IBS would have been too if they didn't scrap it early. All three expansions for story have all kind of felt rushed though. HoT's story barely existed, the whole thing was a rush to the end and there was like no epilogue. PoF felt a bit beefier but it was a bit unfocused with Kesho, Vlast and Joko stuff (should have just made a whole Joko expansion lol). I also felt the ending was rushed. EoD on the other hand had a pretty focused narrative and took it's time with a lot of it until Echovald where it just drops off a cliff. Felt like there was a whole act missing here which is felt because you're barely in the forest before going back to the other two maps. At least it had a decent ending an epilogue though. A lot more cinematic. Anyhow, it's probably obvious by now but the LW seasons filled in a lot of what was missing. For HoT, we had the missing story with the egg finally paying off. For PoF, we had some pretty epic maps and the last two were pretty awesome. I imagine for LWS6 we'll probably see something to similar effect. Hopefully they can actually build something up and take their time with it for once.
