  1. Ok let's assume for a moment paying to clear raid doesnt encourage people to actually find a group and clear the raid themselve. If it is proven true my first option would not to ban those kind of service but rather to find ways to encourage people to play raid. I know I would try to do raid but my timezone isnt ideal to find group willing to takes newbies. And raid look daunting for new player since there's no "T1 raid" just like T1 Fractal that serves as an introduction to raid. But this is going off topic so I'll stop there. Point is, these achievement are just.....achievement. I'm not suddently going to become the master of X or Y. If I dont like doing a JP and there's a player who's willing to offer a TP to the chest, I'll just use it and give that person a gold for its service. I have my achievement, the person get a small thanks token, none of us broke any rule and we're all happy.
  2. The moment you reach level 80 your first priority should be getting exotic armour with the stats you want. As for the amulet and ring, I've never bother going for the exotic one because you can get them easily by doing fractals, even T1 (and T1 fractals are definitely doable with exotic stuff). Alternatively you can farm some map currency and buy them it works too. I would suggest doing that for bagpack and earings since they're a bit of a pain to get without gold, guild currency, laurel and/or ecto . But you can craft your own bagpack with your crafting profession and buy some exotic earing for now. Let me say first that with a full exotic gear, you can do easily 90%-95% of the endgame content in the game so dont rush it. The 5%-10% remaining are just stuff like raid (I think you can do raids just fine with exotic gear but I never tried, I just consider having full ascended for that gamemode is a minimum requirement but it is just my opinion) and high level fractals (you definitely need ascended armour for infusions). Once you're done with all of that you should have something like : -a full set of exotic weapon and armour -ascended amulet, rings, earing and bagpack With all of that, you should already be able to do some higher tier fractal....maybe up to some T3 fractals ? I dont remember but you can definitely do T1-T2. Anyway, upgrading your armour and weapon from exotic to ascended is what's going to be journey (well more for armour than weapon). To do that you have 4 ways: 1- plays fractal and hope you drop ascended gear. Unreliable and requires you to have a high level in fractal. 20% of my ascended stuff (more or less) comes from fractal 2-plays strike missions. I think it gives you crystal shards which can be exchanged for ascended chest. 3-plays SPVP / WvsW. I think you can drop some ascended stuff in there too. I didnt find it to be that reliable 4-craft your own armour and weapon. That's personnally what I did for 80% (more or less) of all my ascended stuff. It will take you some time to properly get a full ascended gear but once you're done well you can be happy because all of the content in the game is achievable with full ascended gear, that gear can be switched between your character so if you main warrior and decide to main guardian after, no need to recraft a new set. I havent done a single legendary item yet but I think if you cannot farm at least for an ascended gear, you might just drown when trying to craft a legendary item.
  3. I have found the only way for me not to die in 2 hit when wearing a full zerg armour is basically to run a kind of barrier + alac bot. Using Mace + Shield, going full melee with the Golem and Elixir for Quickness so I can do my auto attack chain faster and apply barrier and stack alac. Faster alac means I can more or less spam my skill more often. Playing that way I can generate enough barrier for me and the golem to block like 5-6k worth of damage, maybe a bit more and if I combine it with supportive F skill from the golem and my dodge, I would say I can survive decently. But if I want to play as a pure DPS Mecha while being alone, it is definitely more squishy than core engi, scrapper and holosmith.
  4. From my experience it looks like you can only gather and stock the ressources (and I do mean ressources) to your bank however, if you reach your max limit and empty your bank, the game will not update on the beta character slot. I have basically reached the max amount of leather I could stock up, decided to refine all of them and when I wanted to deposit the rest on by beta character well I simply couldnt because the game says I still have my leather reserve full. A shame but oh well. So the best thing to do on your beta character is salvage stuff you can salvage and stock ressources in your bank.
  5. I have met toxic player in GW2, saying there's none would be a fairytale. But overall these kind of toxic behavior are very rare in this game. Most of the time player are chill and helpful. The only endgame thing that can be daunting is Raid. Unlike Fractal where there is an entry for new player in the form of T1 Fractal, I cant find something similar for Raid so it feels like the moment you join the raid you are expected to know all rotation and mecanic from the get go. But this is going off topic. An unlucky experience, it's a shame.
  6. After messing around in PVE with the mecanist here are my thought: -If you spec with a zerk build coupled with the Explosive trait, the golem deals a lot of damage, which is nice. I have found overall the range option reduces the cluncky AI path finding, allowing it to more often deal damage rather than move around. However the survivability is complete garbage. While it does have 42k HP, that number quickly vanish the moment your golem is targetted by a champion. Against foes with AOE attack / small wave of Vet or Elite mob, the golem loses too much HP easily and after you are forced either to heal it if you're running the healing signet, or to recall it for repair and wait hours for the CD to refresh. -Using Berserk gear means you're paper, everyone knows that but the Mecanist survivability when the golem isnt on the field is just.....complete garbage and the damage is poor. I've tried using grenade and kite but you're just a worse version of core engi and the signet doesnt provide much help. -A boon support build, using all the middle skill in the Mecanist trait coupled with the Elixir trait can potentially be viable. I'll do some more testing but the F3 skill coupled with Celerity + Mace auto attack + Alacrity can give some nice barrier and group Alacrity. Maybe with a Power/Precision/Ferocity/Concentration gear set, it can fit a group. -The elite signet is a must have. -I think the shadow step signet could be an instant break stun cast, it wouldnt make it OP and it would give a bit more survivability. -I think the golem control should be the following : F1 : order the golem to engage the target F2: first skill F3:second skill F4: third skill F5: order the golem to come at your side F6: recall the golem for repair While the F1 is just me wanting a dedicated agro button (if it's not implemented it's ok I wont cry) I genuinely think a proper button to ask your golem to come and stay at your side is a must, especially considering how heavy the punishement for letting it die is. I still have more testing to do but overall my main complain is the survivability and the damage output when the golem isnt on field. It is already hard to survive on your own but you also have to maintain the golem alive while using its cluncky AI and movement.
  7. It is definitely possible to drop the Golem at range as shown in the small demo. Assuming you have the range to drop your golem within the enemy zerg, if the golem becomes vulnerable the moment it is summoned then it is going to melt under the auto attack before it can even do something. If it is summoned in the middle of the fight, the golem might just get CC and die fast. If it's summoned within your zerg you cannot use the CC but maybe you can use the range option, let him deal some cheap damage and recall it fast before it takes any damage to re summon again. I also assume there will be a CD before you can recall your golem so you cannot just abuse the cast and remove. Maybe all these assumption are just wrong, we wont know until we can actually try but for PVP content, I dont think Mecanist is going to be anything special
  8. Well this is a beta, they can very well rework the class before the full release if it's catastrophic. I want to be optimistic while keeping my expectation low and think Anet will make the Golem AI not too bad.
  9. I really doubt you want to rely on GW2's AI to save you from other players. While it looks like it has a lot of HP, it is arguably comparable to a Ranger pet and I dont recall seeing Ranger's pet being called OP in zerg. Also as mention previously, it has a break bar and if people are going to spam cripple, freeze, immobilization and/or slow, its breakbar will melt in a matter of seconds, suffer from more damage and just melt. I'm looking forward to how Mecanist will play in PVP, the golem better be some kind of healthy powerhouse if Anet wants to keep its long CD + removal of toolbelt skill.
  10. On paper : Mono target heal can be a niche option if the healing you provide is high enough you can afford to not spec all your gear into healing power. For PVE, if your group can manage their HP fairly well and only from time to time you have to heal someone because he messed up/lagged then the single target heal will not really be an issue. If your group constantly takes damage then no you may need to bring an AOE healer. For SPVP I guess it can be a decent decap / support because it is still a thief that has access to TP. And in team fight you can support an ally you deem worthy. Also thief bring a lot of smoke field/stealth so it can basically be a medic with stealth option. For WvsW I think it can work fine if you're doin duo or trio. And same argument as for SPVP, you're bringing a medic with stealth option. It will most likely not be the best healer but it provides a niche option.
  11. Griffons are fine as they are. They need to start up at a fairly high level above the ground level but the video above just show that you basically "never loses altitude" to say as long as you properly use dive and rise. This kind of video really makes me wonder if I should actually purchase a Griffon even though I already own a Skyscale. Skyscale definitely get the job done for most of the time, but if you find a high spot, not only Griffon does the job faster but it also looks more fun.
  12. I am reading through all of this and wonder... If you do not want to pay for all of this, why not just grind the gold and turn gold into gem ? I understand if you missed the free release it sucks but Anet has been kind enough to basically allow you to grind gold and buy it with gold. Yeah it may takes time but it's basically free. Or you pay with real money. Or wait for them to release yet again, the LS for free. Part of me was kind of pissed that I had to pay 400 gems for an episode and then a month later they're releasing that same episode for free but I dont mind, I already gained back all the gold I used to pay for the episode.
  13. Hello from an island next to New Zealand, I have been having severe lag spike and even DC recently. I do not have a good internet at all, however up until now it was fine. I had to move from EU to US server to change my ping from 400ms to 250ms but it was definitely playable. Now I dont know what is happening but I keep having an average of 500-800ms with consistent lag spike that goes up to 1600-2000ms. At first I thought it was my material that was defective, however on other game I play I dont seems to have any issue. It seems only GW2 is having those massive lagspike. Is there something wrong currently happening with the server ?
