  1. There have definitely been more challenging/more annoying mobs since then but my most hated enemy would still be the dredge from the core game.
  2. I'd definitely go for revenant, spending my time channeling and conversing with the spirits of old would be amazing. And not just because I've been watching a lot of Fate and playing a lot of Civ lately.
  3. The old 1-h sword never gelled with me so I'm looking forward to trying these changes out.
  4. I've gone through so many comments so far wondering when this was going to be mentioned, and was I mad for thinking this is ridiculous.
  5. A real WvW vet spawns every 15 minutes in a predetermined spot.
  6. I mean, I'd rather they stay in the game in a weaker form than that they be removed entirely.
  7. Yeah I have to say the email being character personalised is a really nice touch. It made me think I should check in with my necromancer and see how he's doing, as if he'd have been living this other life without me haha (I'd had a long day in work). I know my necro was my main for the first few years of the game but I knew from waiting for birthday presents that he wasn't my oldest character, and since I'd done so much WvW on my ranger I'd assumed she'd caught up in playtime by now. Turns out my necro still has the slight lead in playtime so it makes sense. Thanks for answering Stephane!
  8. Hey all, I won't likely get to log on for a while to experience the new story, but receiving that "Come Join Us" email from Anet today did make me wonder. Since it was addressed to my necromancer, how did they decide that character was the one it should be addressed to?(Can't log in to check if he's my oldest, or most play time clocked, or any other possible reasons.)
  9. Yeah, I'm kind of happy to just wait and see what they give us for the above reason.
  10. Well, thanks for the interesting discussion anyway, the more objective parts of it have done wonders for my plan to bring my ele to WvW as a support spec, and I feel like my trait choices will be better informed now. =)
  11. I do love when the bard concept gets switched up a bit (eg. PoE's Chanter), and I think Anet would actually do a really good job of switching it up to be a bit less DnD and a bit more their own thing. To be honest though I'd rather the flavour be a bit more Deadlands-Huckster than DnD-Bard.
  12. I feel so old having to ask this but while I'm finding this conversation really interesting this has been annoying me for a while, what is the meaning of "meme", "memeing" etc. in this context?
  13. I love the Antitoxin runes change, and agree that this feels like targeting the problem at it's source. Ranger longbow damage nerf makes me feel a little sad, but won't change anything for me in the long run. I like warrior warhorn getting some attention but the changes seem weird. I like this iteration of Charge but not sure I'm a fan of Call to Arms (cleanse + vigour + barrier + resistance! seems a little much). I like increasing the healing power effectiveness on Scourge barrier skills, and (on paper I agree with the people here who have suggested making Sand Savant a purely supportive thing, but I don't know what complications might be preventing this). I'm a little concerned about reducing the boon corruptions but only from the point of view that I would prefer boons to be less prevalent in the game rather than the point of view of specific skill balance. I also like the proposed changes to Guardian/tomes, and can't help feeling like more needs to be done to tone this class down. From the perspective of both the guardian boon and necro corrupt changes, I'm not sure which classes might be capable of stepping into the room this creates in large scale battles at this time, but I'm looking forward to that space being made available.
  14. Actually, I'm really liking the idea of this applied to an offhand focus instead. The idea of focus being a weapon that lets you bond more powerfully with your legend of choice, with say 1 relatively static skill and 1 that varies based on current legend. This way an extra core weapon can still fit into their current "each legend has an associated weapon set" thing, plus provide an offhand that can work with multiple set ups.
  15. I mean, I'm not sure any player's opinion ever really matters to anyone but themselves. Since my opinion matters to me though, my preference has always been towards large scale disorganised combat, and the more the game and play styles veered towards voice coms and finely tuned GvG groups the less interested I got. Luckily for me the outskirts of those kinds of groups were still usually disorganised and fun to play in. I don't mean to be dissing a play style btw, I just personally don't find it as interesting as the alternative. What I loved about GW2's combat so much in the early days of WvW was the random spontaneous synergies and rhythms you found yourself in with complete strangers as you worked towards a shared goal, and gaining or losing ground in large scale combats was more gradual and (for me) engaging. That's why whenever I hear people ask for changes in WvW I always ask to remove the ability of players to stack. It feels like it would change so much simultaneously.
  16. Back in the early days my favourite character was my necromancer, did everything with him including LS1 and world completion. In the run up to HoT (after the trait overhaul?) I got really into WvW, and started using my ranger more there because traps were a lot of fun. When HoT hit I played the story with both my necro and my ranger but finished the story with my ranger first (mainly due to questing for new pets). At this point open world PvE and guild stuff was mainly done on necro while PvP/WvW stuff mainly on ranger.Took a break until one of the holiday events drew me back in, and I ended up playing revenant more (she had the most free bag space). Found it to be a lot of fun and kept playing it (although I could never care much about herald/Glint), but I still WvWed on my ranger mostly. When PoF hit I brought both of them to it first, I enjoyed the story more on my human rev but still finished it on my ranger first thanks to pet hunting and mounts Now I don't get to play very often, but when my ranger isn't hunting players in WvW she's hunting new mount unlocks and progressing on chuka and champawat (slowly). My revenant is still the first one I bring to any holiday events. My necromancer still haunts the old PvE zones and world boss areas.
  17. Strangely enough the interest this whole post sparked in me the most is a desire in bringing a support tempest to WvW. Thanks for the insights!
  18. I'm looking forward to you reporting back tbh, I've been struggling to feel satisfied when bringing revenant to WvW for a while now.
  19. I remember putting together a wishlist for an Owl spec before. Not really caring about balance, more just wanting to make a brainstorming space for it (although I don't think I actually posted it in the end). Honestly though a transformation skill hadn't even occurred to me, and that would certainly scratch an itch I'd almost forgotten I had. My thoughts for Owl:Weapon skills that would give the most returns for either careful study of the target or chaining effects on the target.Eg. A weapon skill (say skill 3) that's a leap + knockdown is very Owl-y but if the target had stability you could instead use skill 2 say which doesn't strip or directly counter stability but instead gains an effect if used against a target with stability (eg. chill+damage boost). This way the weapon set could focus on control effects with most of the damage coming in slow packets that are improvable through careful set up and deliberate skill use.Eg2. The autoattack, instead of being an attack chain, could be one skill that would gain different effects/improvements based on the circumstances, like when used against a disabled foe, when used from Stealth, if the foe has 2 different movement impairing conditions, if the foe has 3 different damaging conditions, if both you and the foe have the revealed condition, that sort of thing. Just to try and emphasise the clever hunter who kills with a single well placed strike aspect of Owl while making you have to work for those large damage packets. Legend skills would focus more on the support and community side of Owl's teachings. Regarding support, the kinds we can't really provide through other legends or aren't already tied to other legends are stealth, vigour and aegis, which sort of suit the wisdom side of things since they're all about knowing which damage packets to avoid. The elite skill could be something about sharing with your enemies the final moments of Owl's life as she demonstrates the sensation of flying head long into the maw of oblivion. I also thought to show the self sacrifice aspect of her, you could choose through traits to have certain effects (eg. aegis) benefit allies around you instead of benefitting yourself. This would let you pick a bit how much of a support character you wanted to be. So my ideas for trait lines would be something like 1 trait line focusing on self sacrifice, 1 on improving her own Owl-ness (eg. partial/total immunity to Blind since owls can hunt in near-perfect darkness), and the last trait line themed around her conflict with Jormag (eg. improve the effect of Chill).
  20. Honestly read that as Exhausted Legend and thought it was the most fitting title I'd ever seen. I didn't know there were titles that held that kind of power! The only title I've ever really stuck with is Deer Commander for my ranger.
  21. I have one of each for all 9 professions, but of the ones I play with any real frequency it's only really around 5. Ranger (core/soulbeast, despite really wanting to I found it difficult to gel with druid)Revenant (of every flavour, love playing around with this class)Necromancer (core and reaper, flavour of scourge doesn't really suit my current necro, I feel like I'd need to make a whole new character for that and I haven't bothered yet)Mesmer (core and chrono, haven't unlocked mirage yet)Warrior (core only, mainly due to flavour of berserker not suiting her and not having brought her to the desert yet)In roughly that order.
  22. Yeah that's similar to my other one, I want a necromancer elite spec that calls back to Marjory's detective roots in the Noir-iest way possible haha!
