  1. I've found guild wars 2 PVP (PVE is way too nice to be mentioned) to be the least toxic of any other MMOs I've encountered. I don't even think it can be called 'toxic' when compared to those other games (lol). It's just unpleasant sometimes. Most of the players seem to be in the 20-40 age group which naturally means less toxicity. Just look at the forums, just occasional arguments and discussions; nothing resembling any fighting. Granted there might be some tensions when it comes to wintrading and duo queue but the positives outweigh the negative aspects. Just name an MMO with a better PVP balance and nicer community. When I started playing GW2 about 2 years ago I was only interested in PVE and swore never to touch PVP. As it happens, after a good few months, when I finally tried PVP it was pleasantly enjoyable. I even encountered some helpful high level players in public games who would throw out some tactics and strategies. Also, GW2 PVP isn't a noob-stomping P2W fiesta unlike in other MMOs where credit card swipers are running in their mega epic gears and lol pwing noobs (latest example being Diablo Immortal).
  2. Stealth is not a skill issue. I can kill thieves easily. It's just that stealth implementation is toxic. Perma stealth and stealthing every two seconds in combat is bad. I'd be happy if the thief gets double damage or double life but can't stealth in combat.
  3. As a weaver, catalyst is the easiest spec to deal with, so I voted deadeye; because it's boring to go against someone who remains in stealth all the time and doesn't even attack. Virtuoso is the other one because once again, you will bore yourself to death before you get to kill it.
  4. This might just be the easiest band-aid for countering stealth.
  5. Rune isn't the problem, the real problem is how stealth is implemented. Stealth instantly nullifies any counterplay because you can't target or detect any stealthy player, all the while they can run away or prepare to attack you with no movement penalty. Compare how stealth is implemented in wow; you can detect stealthy players (and target them) if they move too close or in front of you and can pop out of stealth if damaged. Also, stealth reduces movement speed.
  6. DuoQ plats camping spawn point and leaving a 'gg' in chat after 500-15. Hilarious
  7. With DT on you, you know exactly when the burst is coming. Here you can bait using LoS as well.
  8. Well, you have 3 seconds to dodge it, easiest skill in the game to dodge.
  9. I got into PVP because of one single reason, and that was standardized stats where everybody was on an even playing field. To me, this is the biggest selling point of GW2 PVP. I was sick of PVP in other MMOs where credit card swipers were wiping the floor with everyone else or where the PVP gear was locked behind a high rating (wow). I can't imagine how you can even call this PVP. This is pure lowbie bashing. For all its problems GW2 still has better and fairer PVP than every other MMO.
  10. Nerft or change stealth and give thief more life to compensate.
  11. As a weaver, you have an edge against FA catas but the annoying part is waiting for about 45 seconds for them to blow their defensive CDs so that you can actually attack them.
  12. DuoQ is now being abused to the point that the 'friend' argument isn't enough to justify it.
  13. Why not just disable mass stealth skills for 10 sec? No need to punish thieves when AoE stealth is the main culprit, not individual stealth skills.
  14. For starters, take unusual paths, and turn randomly around obstacles. Start running toward your base or your spawn. Make your movement unpredictable. 1. Staff marks, precast them, and work around them for a start so you block at least one direction. Or you will at least know if someone approaches. 2. Have your flesh wurm out because you'll teleport at the first sign of burst if it feels overwhelming. Teleporting to higher ground is better. 3. Activate spirit walk at higher ground. See if they chase you when you jump down and activate spirit walk a second time to dodge them. It even works if you don't have higher ground. 4. Save dodges for last. You can start with one dodge at the beginning to have two ready after you've burned down all CDs.
  15. For all its problems GW2 is light years ahead of similar MMOs when it comes to PVP.
  16. If PVP experience is improved, then we might start getting more players. There have been some good suggestions in the forums for improving the PVP. I think we can agree that current situation isn't very good and needs some incentives/improvements to attract players.
  17. Scrapper is meta now. Can we say that only skilled players play scrapper, just like cata.
  18. Vanilla necro: Press all buttons all the time to g2/3. Good way to learn map mechanics before learning when to press buttons.
  19. Pretty sure those 2 people out of 4 at close in your team are wintraders and they start calling you bad names to make you ragequit and make their job easier.
  20. Also, stop going mid or far if you don't have home.
