  1. (Big post because the whole class has multiple problems.) Herald is not doing great either (outside of PVE), the power variant specifically, is very mediocre nowadays. Vindicator is the only relatively good spec right now. Can compete decently if you try your hardest. Edit: However, some would argue that condi Herald is the actual good rev spec right now, I'm just bias against it since I find the gameplay incredibly shallow compared to power herald. So the only realistic or easy approach would be to buff Renegade (however, it might need a rework instead, aoe based specs are very problematic), buff Herald a little bit and just one thing for Vindicator, please make the heals 20s, the spec plays the same way Herald does (meaning same role) because its re-sustain is bad (very different from active damage mitigation), which means you play it to just jump on people all day, thief playstyle but with less teleports, less/no superspeed and no stealth. In contrast to WvW, where Power Vindicator and even Herald still feel great and smooth. (I dont even want to mention Celestial builds, nothing should be balanced around that, one of the worst things about this game. Even though it benefits Renegade a lot and for some reason people still run cele Renegade instead of cele Vind with sb, I guess it's not as friendly.) Because they for sure aren't going to nerf every other class and their specs out of nowhere. 🟦 Another thing, I believe it was also Shagie who said this, correct me if I'm wrong. I do think that it would be healthier for the game to make shortbow exclusively a condi weapon. And hammer for power. After trying sb for the first time since Soto I just couldnt believe it, it's way better at most situations than hammer, so fun and useful. I can actually play the game now without having to step on one of the 7 puddles of vomit and CC all over the floor in order to deal meaningful damage. But before you do, please, please revert Coalescence of Ruin to its pre-October 2019 state, where the closer the target was to the revenant, the lower the damage, it was such a clever design, why the hell did they change it? That needs to happen at the very least, however I doubt it would be enough, the weapon is still way too slow against competent players. Opposite to sb, which allows you to reliably CC players at x5 the speed of hammer, good zoning with sb 4 and great burst with Sevenshot. Phase Smash is very cool, don't touch it.

  3. I actually hate it when people die too quickly, like in BDO, but even then GW2 is nowhere near as fast and as bad as in there. Balance here is actually not terrible. The game does not need another kittening Feb 2020, such a lazy and uninspired approach to "balancing". If that ever happened again, it would definitely spill over into WvW and then the game mode would actually be royally kittened because things like Celestial, Trailblazer, Dire, etc. exist there. And it already happened once with the Feb 2020 patch, permanent damage to the player base. And for SPvP, they would for sure end up removing even more amulets and runes, anything with toughness and vitality would "suddenly" become incredibly strong. People really don't understand that power is relative. With a stupid global patch like that, people would start whining about a new set of problems. No amount of balance will stop the game mode from bleeding out players, let alone growing its player base. Conquest as the only game mode was a death sentence.

  5. You have no idea how hard they would nerf every single utility. And all that for what? Just to get a thief but backwards. That's the point of energy right now, that you can't just camp a single legend and keep spamming the same skills. You have to make the most of your current energy pool and plan ahead. You have to make big decisions every 9 seconds if you want to play the class at its best. What is the fascination of coming up with ideas that just make things more shallow?
  6. 🏆 Yeah WvW is the only place I can have fun these days, I can either roam and duel, join small groups and cloud stuff and also join bigger groups in a squad, Id rather deal with celestial builds there than be forced to play the exact way some devs and conquest fanatics want me to play their only game mode, they have made a lot of classes very unidimensional just because of conquest. And the reason I frequent these forums is because some very stupid, out-of-touch nerfs do make it into WvW, unfortunately. Every class has suffered from this.
  7. For sure. But none of those are invading ranked and steamrolling the rest. And in fact, OP clearly stated "cause most people suck at them", so do they want to balance the whole game around the one or two good players that "steamrolled" them? This was obviously another resentful post, and not the first they had written. There are a lot of them here.
  8. Bruh Isn't the point of having more complex builds that they should be more rewarding than simpler ones? 💀 These forums are really something. Still fantasizing with the idea of reaching some imaginary state of balance where everything is equally rewarding, equally difficult/easy, equally represented, and all that without somehow homogenizing everything to death and making the game even more boring for most people.
  9. The argument everyone always has against rev is that they have two heals. However: Shiro - It's rare to get full value of it since daggers can be dodged/blocked(even by obstacles)/reflected(and it heals them instead). And they have an interval of 1/2 cd. Meaning that you can't get full value of them unless you are constantly landing damage for 2+ secs. Jalis - Weaker version of mending and on a 30s cd vs 20s of mending. Mallyx - Just a mediocre heal, was designed around being immune to condis so its just poor design nowadays. Glint - Used to be good at 3s duration. Still is good in WvW because it hasn't been nerfed there but even then, Power Herald still folds to almost everything when roaming. And the thing about Power Herald is that it requires you to always be aggressive due to the nature of Enchanted Daggers and Infuse Light, other classes have the luxury of kiting around, going out of los/range and getting the full value of their heal. It's just a very risky spec to play with barely any reward nowadays. 🟦 Vindicator heals - 2.8k and 3.5k each and they have a long channel. In sPvP the spec feels kitten to play partly because of them being 30s. So right now Vindicator plays the same way as Herald in sPvP, take all the damage traits and just fish for Phase Traversal opportunities from behind something and try to explode someone before they can react. (However, that might actually be a problem with every other class as well right now, after the constant nerfs to sustain on everything.) Very unidimensional gameplay and I despise it, thats why I stick to WvW. 🟪 Anyway, long post just to agree with you. Because most if not all heals should be lowered to 20s. Increase their energy costs from 5e to 10e if that sounds too good. Energy management is still a great aspect of revenant, and good management should be rewarded. Much better than randomly buffing passive healing on something. (Such as the recent buff to Fiendish Tenacity. Who even asked for that?)
  10. The contrast between Revenant other classes and Ranger is really something right now. RIP Power Herald, it would actually be nice if it was used as a benchmark to balance the risk/reward for everything else. Because that is one of the main problems with the balance here. Fantastic gameplay as usual by the way, especially the Herald one.
  11. Great point, knee-jerk reaction patches that delete playstyles can in fact cause people to never log back in again. Such as when the Feb 2020 patch happened. The vast majority of people only have time to get decent at one class and playstyle, and only that because is what they enjoy. The bad thing about this is that it can also prevent poor game design from being addressed, such as celestial builds right now, many people already love to death their immortal builds that can also kill multiple non-celestial builds on their own. 🟦 But yeah, lack of content is for sure always bad and I mean not getting a single content update for over 5 years. However, having a large sandbox/number of options for builds does help alot. Just in contrast with WvW, sPvP was so strictly balanced around Conquest and Automated tournaments that it ended up deleting as many options as possible because anything that disrupts the true conquest experience had to be deleted from the gamemode. Imagine having only a single gamemode for over 10 years. 🟪 So how is sPvP now? Actually dead, because it's not even fun and diverse. Everyone plays the same exact way: Try to kill people within a second and if you fail just jump around kiting while your cds reset and try again. Thats why WvW still has hundreds of active dedicated players, meanwhile sPvP has like 26.

Come on bruh, it's melee range! We need to be effective at all ranges at all times.

  14. I concur, very good video. And thank you for documenting so much. I've also talked about this before, exclusively balancing around conquest with 5 people on coms (aka only balancing around mats) has made the experience miserable for everyone else.
  15. You cant be this dense, skills that were never buffed are this strong right now because of the constant nerfs to everything else. And also thanks to the removal of anything defensive coming from amulets and runes. Power is relative.
  16. Yeah pretty much this, many things have been pushed to only have one playstyle. Making sure people die within 2 seconds. I'll use revenant as an example now. Retribution traitline = nerfed to uselessness long ago Last time vindicator got nerfed it received multiple damage and sustain core nerfs. Including a severe nerf to the utility dodge that used to be competitive, Imperial Impact. (And the barrier jump was essentially deleted from the game mode long ago) So what do people do now? Take the damage jump since its the only good one by far now, 3-4k dodge that comes with a 10s +15% damage buff and 10 vulnerability stacks. Take Devastation which in average increases damage by 50% from modifiers and might. And just so you can have an impact on the team, the spec feels like kitten to play with its 30s cd - 3ksomething channeled heals with a 9s cd on alliance swap, so theres no other way to play it but to PT from range and hope you can quickly kill someone not looking at you. Same with Herald actually, both specs play pretty much the same way, which is ridiculous. Still not tournament worthy though, which is crazy since it means that other specs are even better at dealing damage and surviving. Amulets need to return and be unnerfed, such as Paladins and even Marauders. It's that simple, this is an MMORPG, equipment choices should be a big factor. Balancing this game mode around 20 people has made it unbearable for everyone else.

  19. Yeah and it's funny because player themselves are the main reason most relics released this weak. PvP forums already have a thesis in there on why Antitoxin is going to ruin the gamemode (yeah, even with that icd). They got so used to Divinity being the only good rune.

  21. Waiting for another Feb 2020 situation with a lazy, cheap approach of globally nerfing damage instead of doing their job and actually balancing on a case by case basis. Reinventing the wheel moment. And suddenly supports are OP again. "You know, lets just delete amulets with any healing or toughness." And suddenly everyone starts dying too fast again. "You know what? How about just deleting the rest of the amulets and runes! Divinity is the only popular rune anyway." And just like that your spvp active population will go from 100 something to like 27. What a great idea was to isolate sPvP that much from the rest of the game, by removing actual build/equipment customisation, in an MMORPG where that part is at least half the fun, just to try to achieve an imaginary scenario where everything is perfectly "balanced and equally represented" and for the same kittening gamemode in 10+ years. "But the MATs man! Look at all that diVersiTy (Who gives a kitten about ranked, am i rite?)! It's so cool that low skill floor/low effort/riskless specs are as effective as others that have to go through twice as many skills and mechanics! Finally after years of lack of mAt representation. #equality"
