  1. False advertisement was already deleted from Twitter so I think we can shrug it off and move on. The video was showing the following mount skins could be picked for free, which was false: * Gallant Lightbearer Raptor Skin * Nightfang Griffon Skin * Royal Anubis Jackal Skin * Synergetics Hoverbike Skimmer Skin I didn’t bother to backup the video, but it’s definitely wrong, and if you read the thread on Twitter, you can see a lot of people got very confused as why they can’t find them from the license, and a follow up investigation tweet from Anet also led to more confusion that some people thought they’re going to fix the license, instead of correcting the wrong video. It also gave a lot of people anxiety that they’ve already picked one, if they fix the license, can they re-pick? I know those skins were quite different from the “licensed” ones, and given the leak the item was already discovered a week ago, it’s not going to happen that they can change the in-game item quickly (it’s not going to be wise to do that either, for a lot of good reasons). But I did see people not really paying attention to all those details, got quite confused and disappointed, and nervous about picking too fast. Some people didn’t even know there are premium skins. Of course people will complain about everything, but this one was a clear mistake (they corrected this by deleting the tweet), and I think complains were certainly valid. They do need to do better for marketing on social media (at least for this one). It’ll reach much more audiences outside of more hardcore players on this forum. Impressions are important.
  2. Could you all please stop accepting 1 dodge or accepting compromises around changing mechanism, so it diverges more from PvE? Unless you’re also proposing to change mechanism in PvE as well. I hate that they started splitting skills in a way that they work quite differently between game modes. They used to stick with only number changes, which was good, not sure why they started to think it’s fine to break the flow. It’s very confusing for players jumping between modes. I would only accept 1 dodge if it’s also just 1 dodge in PvE. Buff all the numbers in PvE to compensate, sure. Or just bring 2 dodges back in PvP and WvW. I doubt if Mirage would be over performing at all. If it really is, just tone down some condition duration for some skills.
  3. I like it. Maybe dodge again while in the air to land immediately. This can also solve the problem that it’s too predictable when Vindicator will land in competitive mode.
  4. Yeah, it's not great, and I only run Chrono in open world because I need something running fast and bursting fast, and for random open world things we usually don't need something great either. The other place I run Chrono is in WvW... which to be honest, not great either. I checked in-game, and I realized I am using Sigil of Force and Sigil of Strength (to compensate lack of mights), and the rests are close enough. I still miss Distortion for gathering :kekw: Edited: Oh, if you need better defense, I suggest using shield instead of changing stats. It’s usually enough.
  5. Depending on how much you need to burst, but the strongest burst for Chrono is: * Get ready with 3 clones * Cast Phantasmal Disenchanter * While casting it, cast Continuum Split * Cast Phantasmal Berserker * Cast Signet of the Either, recharging Phantasmal Disenchanter and Phantasmal Berserker * Cast Phantasmal Disenchanter and Phantasmal Berserker again * Cast Split Second when you got 3 clones * Cast Rewinder if you got another 3 clones * Try to cast Mantra of Pain during above * After Continuum Split ends, cast Phantasmal Disenchanter and Phantasmal Berserker again * Cast Split Second when you got 3 clones * Cast Rewinder if you got another 3 clones In theory I suppose. I am not fully sure if it's possible to fit all of that during the window, but you get the idea... and of course it's not always that all the skills are ready for you. If the fight gets longer, skill cooldown are not going to align that well. Honestly, I think Anet made this very difficult to balance due to all kinds of resetting skills. Maybe it's even possible to use Mimic to cast Phantasmal Disenchanter, and that would be another heavy burst during the window.
  6. Something like this out of my memory: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PiwAExzlVw2YMsJWJOyKdNfA-zxQYhoGFsDnfZUbKURFYyBIg9wnpHBA-e Can verify when I can access the game. Generally I do have all builds saved like this without the game, but only when I am really content for the build… Not this one so it’s only in the game 😅 Edited: If we’re certainly running solo, perhaps it’s worth to try swapping Domination for Illusion, so we have some mights and quickness: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PiwAExzlVw2YMsJWJW6WaNfA-zxQYhoGFsDnfZUbKURFYyBIg9wnpHBA-e I’ll try this latter when I can play.
  7. Power Chrono does not have good sustain damage, but the burst is good which is usually enough for random open world things. Recent patches didn’t really do anything for open world Chrono because we’re not going to sustain alacrity nor slow. It’s not strong but as mentioned, whatever in open world. Running fast and bursting fast, and flavours… can be enough of reasons to play. Every time I tried to run axe viper Mirage, I eventually gave up. I find it only dealt slightly more damage than double staves celestial, probably because I couldn’t cap mights at 25 stacks when running solo, and it’s certainly way easier to die, too. I can clear T1 fractal with double staves celestial Mirage as well (or I should say, celestial is just the god of solo play. Did a few times with Firebrand and Mechanist, too. Surprisingly, it’s the easiest on Mirage). It’s also my goto for solo bounties or champions. I think power Virtuoso is quite bad. The damage is subpar and it’s extremely brittle, very easy to die in solo. Condi Virtuoso does much more damage, and can heal a lot from enemies bleeding, much easier to survive. My only gripe is that without passive 25% movement speed it’s just painful. And I agree that power is just bad in general. Power Chrono has strong burst (and 25% movement buff!), and that’s it. A lot of people said power Mirage is great, but every time I tried I just felt it did very little damage. It’s funny that Virtuoso was supposed to be a power spec, and they buffed bloodsong til it became meta
  8. We’ll see. The leak did force them do something, but they didn’t realize what’s wrong yet. Following up a few patches, we still saw unreasonable changes and they didn’t revert Catalyst nerf yet. Now for the latest preview, it was exciting to see they acknowledged the real issue, and indeed postponed “twice” for unreasonable changes. If I recalled correctly, that’s indeed the first time they really did this. Can they keep on? We all know that what they said and did often didn’t match at all. They could be claiming A yet did the complete opposite… Call me pessimistic but I want to see matching actions in a few rows to actually believe they’re really on track this time.
  9. For open world, I did pick all of the elites. Chronomancer was my favourite, even though it's just a shadow of its former self. I still wish they can revert some of the nerfs, even to this day, and it's disappointing that the recent patches which supposed to be buffing Chronomancer didn't really do much. Anyway, I still run Chronomancer in open world with a simple power build (assassin + eagle rune), nothing too special, because in open world I cannot endure not having passive 25%+ movement buff. Chronomancer has this built-in, so I have more freedom about which runes to pick. And it's open world! Anything really works  The other build I run often in open world is celestial traveler Mirage, which is a great all around solo build. I usually swap to this build when things become difficult on my glass Chronomancer. I do also play condi Virtuoso when I need damage and there are groups around, but given that it's too difficult to get Virtuoso work well with traveler or fireworks, I really don't play it often in open world. And I mean it. Can we also have that Shift Signet, if we're not nerfing it? It can release me from this traveler curse in open world. Signet of Inspiration is not an answer. First it's annoying to have voice over every few seconds, and it can't cover 100% swiftness either, making the speed unreliable and even more annoying. Of course, using a focus is also not an answer...
  10. It still amazed me that after so many years they finally realized that? Don't get me wrong, baby steps are better than 0 steps. I just felt a bit pathetic that we need to celebrate over this baby step. Again, don't get me wrong, I did celebrate this. Good job, Anet... and don't forget this is the very first step: realization. Tons of challenges await.
  11. I just checked the old update notes, and it didn’t seem to explain why they made this change. They just mentioned that they’re trying to make ranged damage more reliable. I would also love to see this reverted back. Both stripping with Mind Stab and crippling with Phantasmal Berserker worked much better. Would love to keep stripping 2 boons though.
  12. Not that I need to play it from Steam, but it’s also blocked for me from Taiwan. Oddly, it’s available before the launch. It’s only blocked now after it’s launched. I don’t understand.
  13. I think they can just fill the holes with “static” big red bangs to remind people if it’s really so important to make unselected things very catching. At most maybe flash them just single time when the panel is opened. If I have unselected stats on my gears, they don’t constantly flash either. I got so annoyed with the constant flashing (even reducing the frequency can help), and it’s also the reason why I only try to make my builds on http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ if I need to ponder longer.
  14. Is this a request for in-game tutorial for farming gold? First step might be graying out WvW, or a big warning that there are very little gold.
  15. Given the logic that ceiling should remain the same for all the specs amongst everything, we’ll end up with only specs which can shine everywhere can survive. Oh yes, that’s Firebrand and Mechanist. Coincident? I don’t think so.
  16. Maybe when casting, get X% damage buff if not moving. If the player moves, remove the buff (instead of interrupting)
  17. I fully agree with this. Some are saying that melee have higher risks or more difficult to perform, therefore melee should have better damage. While I don't fully disagree with that, we can also look at it from another angle. Meteor Shower is a good example. Long range, very large radius, extra high risks (in WvW and PvP, in PvE it's depending on encounters), it should give extra high rewards, yet it's nerfed too much (or did not receive enough buff via powercreep) through the years now it's no longer the case. I miss the old Meteor Shower so much. Why we ended up like this? Because Anet now only look at numbers on the benchmark to limit the ceiling. Even when it's super complex, or having super high risks, nothing can give high numbers on a static benchmark, in which risks are never a concern. Following this logic, any high complexity or high risks plays will no longer be viable because they're no longer rewarding for the cost. What if they start caring some builds no one plays anymore? Keeping the same logic, they cannot just buff, so they have to reduce the complexity or reduce the risks to make them viable. I wouldn't say this is homogenizing everything, because skills are still different. However, they're indeed making skills feel more and more similar with each others. Just. Spam. Every. Thing.
  18. Or how can Mirage threaten the real child Virtuoso? 🤔
  19. Also, they’re not honest about why they nerf Mirage, which is also not surprising.
  20. The leak does mention that complexity should not be an excuse to have higher potential, meaning that they indeed don’t care about the ceiling for the actual average fights. Feeling like my higher average ping (200~300) is a sin. While I completely disagree with this perspective, it’s at least consistent to what they have done to Catalyst. Maybe next year when they finally realized that Mirage was long extinct, they would buff it again like how they buffed Chronomancer which would likely not do much as we observed. It’s hard not to be pessimistic. Or maybe things can be worse so I was still too optimistic, as the history did show, sometimes they can always do even worse when I already did expect the worst.
  21. Bountiful Disillusionment should be reverted back to be giving boons to allies. It’s nowhere from good even with that, given current standards.
  22. I can probably kind of relate, even though I disagree that Mechanist is fine (I am not saying it’s OP, just not fine and requires further changes). I can kind of relate because: A) Anet had a track record that when they nerf things, that things must be nerfed into ground. That is scary. B) Anet probably doesn’t understand what’s wrong with Mechanist, otherwise they won’t design this beast to begin with, and people are saying this is OP and over saturated. What Anet would react? Maybe nerf it into ground so people stop playing. Very typical Anet balancing strategy. Too many examples. The real problem is that it’s too passive and providing too many utilities at the same time. This cannot be tweaked by just changing numbers. C) Engineers really need a good elite spec for PvE for so long. Actual engineers players are scared that Anet might nerf it into the group. Ok, this is the same as A, but maybe it’s so scary that it’s worth to mention again. Frankly, I don’t know how to fix this beast without completely reworking Mechanist. No, I don’t want to waste my time making an executable plan for Anet when they clearly didn’t exactly listen to players and this is their jobs. If they want me to sign some contracts with them so I can help them, then sure. Not that I am expecting this would happen, just saying. Constructive feedback doesn’t mean free executable plans.
  23. Not sure why we need to keep beating the average players in open world. If taking efforts or not is going to win, why try so hard? I often saw sloppy players in Dragonstorm, and when there were not enough players to win the fights easily, those sloppy players often started being serious and then suddenly we did much better and then everything went smoothly next. It’s often more about if it’s worth the effort, not that they’re really bad. Now think about what if they all just move to Mechanist. Same efforts, much better performance, and they can be even more sloppy now. Will this happen? Isn’t this already happening? What about instanced contents? I think everyone is aware of this already? https://gw2wingman.nevermindcreations.de/popularity It’s quite common that a squad is composed with 4 Mechanists and 2 Firebrands. Fill the rest with a few Virtuoso and everything else. Changing toons always take time. We have more time to see what would happen next. Note that I never mentioned about the peak performance. It’s not really about top performing, but why the popularity became like this. Keep in mind engineer is also one of the least played professions in history, it takes time for players to create new toons and get them up and running. Of course, we can also argue that popularity is not something we should balance around. Sure… if we are fine that diversity is dying it’s indeed fine. It’s totally conflicting with the idea Anet has been saying though “Bring the player, not the spec”. Actually, maybe Anet is arguing that it’s just everyone all love to play Mechanist! Totally not forced. They just love it. Why do we need to make people like Mechanist less? Doesn’t that mean Mechanist is so successful (check the leaked contents for reference) that now engineer is no longer the least played professions beyond the healing support Scrapper in WvW?
  24. Not trying to defend anything, but they broke so many more professions (mesmer specifically in my mind) during the time, to the point that I can even say it's the first and only time for me to rage quit over balance changes (or maybe we should say mechanism changes, because it's way more than just balance), around the time they suddenly fell in love with the weird trade-off ideas, giving artificial handicaps as a way to balance, breaking so many things. See my rage is still there 😞 I don't feel this will happen, but I really think they should revert all those weird trade-offs coming from nowhere, and apply proper balance changes from there. Sorry for my rants. I'll stop here.
