  1. When I started playing I came from GW1 where Ele is my favourite (although I do most solo things with a spirit spammer energy build). I was playing with a friend and we ran into many issues. The main reason is that we where used too much to be turrets. That is why I switched to engineer back then. I reckoned that bringing my own turrets would be better. There are two elements to your issue.1: Pick the right class for you.2: learn how to play elementalist has the steepest learning curve as it is very unforgiven and gives you less room to learn to play. In gw2, movability is very important. Dodging is important, but also being on the move all the time. With a class like elementalist making a dodging mistake is lethal. My learning curve was as following.1: elemtalist till level 402: brought engineer to level 803: guardian - main till PoF4: switched back to engineer/holosmith The engineer helped me a lot to learn the basics without being to close to the fire. The guardian brought me into the melee range and this helped me a lot to understand the advantages of melee range, while still having enough protection whenever I trip over my fingers. The holosmith is less forgiving, but has a lot of dps, while still being able to protect myself when I trip and goof up.
  2. Arenanet has chosen to minimise limiting specific content to guilds only. Membership of a guild should be an option, but you should also be allowed to pug (or gather a group using your friendslist, or any other way to form a group to do content). There is however many content suitable for guilds and that also benefits guilds and being in a guild. Among them are WvW, Raids, Fractals and dungeons. And as of the rest. Almost all aspect of the game has people asking for more dev-time. The question is what justifies dev-time for your format, over the time spent on other stuff?? Yes, they could do more, I agree, but they can do more on so many levels. I do not think that a dev-team limited to doing guild-content limits the abilitiy to choose. They did say that the teams can work on more then just living world releases. I do hope Guild improvements are among them, but I do not think it is beneficial to have a dedicated team.
  3. This is unsure. We only get to see him in this current form. before Season 3 he was only shown in pictures and statues. Most depict him wearing armor. A mural in Gandara shows him without a helmet, showing a rather old man. This was in the time of GW1 and so atleast 300 years ago.https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Balthazar_mural_(Gandara).jpg
  4. The issue lies in the understanding of the All."According to Ogden Stonehealer, the All is undefinable as beings can only grasp portions of it, and even the Elder Dragons are small relative to the All. Beings can only see certain layers of the Mists, the Elders, and Tyria while anything beyond that is hidden from their senses." ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_All ) the second issue is the consideration how allmighty a deity is. We know that anyone can rise to godhood (Kormir, Grenth) and also a deity like an elder dragon can be taken over by a lesser dragon. So just like normal beings, it can be asusmed that a god can not understand the all as well. The all also goes beyond Tyria and the destruction of Tyria is not the worse thing that can happen to the All. It would likely be insignificant to the bigger pictureThe last thing is that Gods feel elevated beyond regular beings. So why is this of importance? Balthazar is the god of war. He doesnt care about one being more or less. His true philosphy is never shared (afaik), but most gods of war sees destruction as a way to cleanse the existence of all and recreate it. However he doesnt understand the all fully as well. So it is simular to the debate between the orders, how to tackle things. most Gods do not think it is wise to interfere with the elder dragons as they do not hold a proper solution or cause it would cost more then it would be desired.Balthazar disagrees, he sees the destruction as an opportunity to create something new. With him as the only all powerfull deity (after he was abbanded by the other Gods).
  5. My favourite was a bug. There is a monthly flux in PVP. It is a mechanic to spice things up and make matches differently. In october this is minion apocalypse. Any time a player dies, all nearby creatures are struck for 50 damage and a level 20 masterless bone horror is spawned. To showcase this effect, it is also active in outposts for PvP. In outposts, player skills (including heal skills) are disabled. But there was also a situation where Dhuum would pop up out of the ground to kill a player in an outpost (with ressurection disabled) to showcase a suspension of the players account. As this counts as a kill, the monthly flux would trigger and spawn a minion. This would attack other players and spawn even more minions, eventually killing everyone in the outpost.
  6. This proofs that they have the possibility to run the festival for 20 years without the need to extend the duration of the specific achievement.
  7. I am not sure what you want to purchase more then 1 time? GW1 was never designed to have micro transactions and it is unlikely they are able to track data about how many character slots or something simular you have. But support knows this and will be most willing to help you if you purchased anything beyond what is usable for you. Just contact them and they will help you.
  8. you are not the only one with this opinion. There have been many threads about it and I do not see why we need a new one. My advice is to use the search option and use one of the existing topics. Also, there was never any word from the devs that Tengu would be playable. This has always been pure speculation from the players. I actually hope that those speculations where off. If the Tengy where to be a playable race, it was rejected at one point and this makes it less likely to ever actually happen.
  9. To communicate, you need to have something news to tell. The layoffs where a result of a change of direction for the entire company. This ment a big amount of information to give us. Now they are developing stuff and thing are more quit. They likely do not want to give us more information at this point so they are able to adjust further and learn from the process.
  10. Hi, and sorry to hear this. Due to elevated response time, depending on how busy it is it could take support longer, but a week seems to be a bit long. Make sure to check your spam folders to see if you didnt get a reply. However.......The ingame password is the same as the password you use to login on the forum, so if you are loggin in with the account associated with winterlove.6834, you migth be able to retrieve it on your own.if this is an automated login, made by your browser who rememberd the password, you can check the password list. For chrome on windows: go to settings and then passwords. Look for the arenanet password or guildwars 2 password and use the eye to reveal it to you. You need to login with your windows credentials. For other browsers the process is simular.
  11. Have you tried if the same happens during normal mode? It might happen to perform a repair. To do so, run the game with the -repair command line argument: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
  12. I'm not sure how much data exaclty is being processed. The bottleneck in my experience here is not the harddrive or anything you can control. During startup, the game connects to the loginserver. This will check for updates, check your details, logs you into the character select screen and once you picked a character handsover the data to a specific map server. This server does notaffect gameplay and the delay should be rather tolerable. Thats why it is as fast/slow as it is. It should not take too long. Just a few seconds for each step.
  13. Why would F2P change anything? GW1 has been around for many years and I think that anyone interested in the genre knows about it and have considered playing. The price never has been high and it always have been easy accesible. Unlike WoW ans RS, it has always been available. The main issue however is costs. The game cost money as it runs on servers. There is no revenue at all to justify F2P and would only mean that the moment it shuts down would be nearer. The best would be a permanent extended trial. e.g. 3 months.
  14. Just a few cents. This means they have been working on those area's. How and why is unknown. But I have compared it to the gw1 map and the lorebooks. To see what to expect there.Delta next to DR. This area was never fully explored. It was on the map since GW1 eye of the north and itwas always a delta. The only difference is that the giant bassin has become a lot smaller since. This due to the dams next to Divinites reach. This is simular to Doric's lake and most likely more farmland for DR. Far shiverpeaks: This is well known territory. We know it was mostly inhabited by the Norn, but they fled southwards. The traditional Kodan territory is north of this, but they as well fled southwards to get away from Jormag. Dragon Bash could very well mean that Norn or kodan are migrating back to the north. I even can imagine some kind of conflict between Norn factions over migrating back or staying south. The Kodan are less likely to show such a conflict as each santuary is independend. The claw and voice govern together, but making a decission without the other means inbalance. They believe it is possible that this happened to the Norn and they do not want to become Norn. There are several Norn settlements in the region, like Sifhalla, Olafstead and Gunnar's hold. We do not know what happened to them when the Norn went south. And off course there is the Eye of the North there (although it seems that is too far to the south-east on the map) the last area is the charr homeland (or even beyond that). It is unknown in almost every way. We do not know if Charr still live there. We do not know what the connection is to the Charr in the Black Citadel and there is only the information from the ecology of the Charr that helps a little bit. The biggest issue with these three images is how all area's are connected to different races. The Delta is Human area. The far shiverpeaks are connected to humans and the Charr homeland is connected to...well the charr. If we go to all these places, it is predictable that Season 5 will focus on all 5 races acting on the lack of elder dragons. with the common enemy gone, they migth even focus on conflict and regaining strenght towards the other races. For the Asura it might mean going back to the depths of Tyria (which would not show on the map at all). And Sylvari would stay foot, as the tree is not something to move around easily. Perhaps expand their territory towards Southsun or Orr. (Orr would make a lot of sense as it was the firstborn's Wyld Hunt to clean Orr of the corruption)
  15. WvW seriously needs some Chaplains
  16. They announced that they are currently not going to announce any xpac, but they are planning on releasing a new living world season. There are four content teams and they can work on stuff with a wider scope then we are used too in living world. an example named is going back to existing maps.
  17. The charr is best recognised as a militia. Well organised, but not driven by gold as a primary base of trade. When the iron legion builds a new base, they do not buy the iron, but will mine it. If they lack mines, they will conquer them and protect them and take it. They provide bunks, food and clothes to the soldiers, which also are not bought, but taken in war. Charr get paid a bit, but it is minimal and mostly used for pleasure activities (e.g. in the tavern). So they take what they need and it lacks a real economical system. This is true for the black citadel charr and the falme legion charr. It is unknown how things are in the charr homelands. The militia has always been on the move to go where the fighting is. They settled in Ascalon as there is a constant stream of ghosts to fight. war is so much part of the culture of the Charr it is how they are identified and without it they would be without purpose and likely move on to the next war, just as they did before Ascalon. This means that the charr homelands situation is of no consequence. We deal with the charr from the black citadel and they are working as a militia.
  18. Voice actors are always hired contracts and never employed. The reason is that the voice acting takes only a few hours and the rest of the time they do other projects. So it got nothing to do with the lay offs. It often happens when voice actors can no longer fit it in their schedule, they need a solution. Often this is found in cancelling the character for a while (this is presumably the reason we do not see much of Zoija), but with the player character this not a solution. So they had no other option then to stall new releases till she had time or replace her.
  19. As others said, Block, report and move on.A fourth advice is to not feed the troll. They seek attention, and negative attention is attention as well. do not give them any. Be dignified and let the report system bring justice. You do not get any feedback, but know it will happen and will be glorious!
  20. c0000005 is not typically a game issue. It is a failure in windows files or device drivers. Faulty data in the games dat file can cause these files to encounter an error when processing things and indirectly cause this error. But when repairing the client didnt help, it is wise to look into the device drivers first. The best way is to re-install the device drivers. I would start with the GPU, but if that doesnt help, also try the sound if it is anything special. If the problem persist, look at the OS files by reinstalling the OS.
  21. The game is still using serverspace and this cost money. The current sales are enough to pay for it (and make a profit, no doubt), but turning it into free will diminish the revenue from the game and will likely mean the servers has to go out soon. I would prefer having a prolonged trial system. E.g. a three month trial.
  22. I checked earlier. Target is not active in my country, but I checked UK and US and there is currently no target listed as authorised seller for gems
  23. Any dispute about a purchase should primary be resolved by contacting the store you bought them from. Support can only assist in mediating to resolve the issue (which sometimes means giving you the gems and taking it up with the reseller without bothering you). This mediation is only done with authorised retailers. This doesnt mean that others are bad. Contact Target and I am sure they can resolve this for you.
  24. I remember soloing (and failing) the fire elemental in oktober 2012 somewhere in the middle of the night. This was before megaservers and world boss schedule, but also when the game was considered to be more active. I truly welcome an event fail from time to time. Did you know that if you fail to kill the fire elemental, the inquest steals the C.L.E.A.N. 5000 golem and there is another event to destroy it.
