If you Were Anet (warning Critical Thinking Required)
Ovark.2514 replied to Pimsley.3681's topic in Player vs. Player
I think that many of the changes in the patch will be good for the game. Some though, are woefully inadequate and others make the game way too samey. I'd say go ahead with it but then to a follow-up patch within a week or 2. -
How do you feel about the Thief changes?
Ovark.2514 replied to xblankk.4207's topic in Player vs. Player
I'm really looking forward to being blinded instantly on steal. I really don't think there was enough blind spam in the game before this patch. /s -

Regardless of balance, which builds are the most fun in PvP?
Ovark.2514 replied to Aodlop.1907's topic in Player vs. Player
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PKABcex7lNwSYTsKmJO+KmtLA-zZIPlGFCZKC6VCEwCwxDA Power berserker ax-ax sword shield. You'll die a lot but BOY do you do some damage. -
I did forget about Brave Stride because I never take it because it is on an ICD which means it's unreliable. Remove the ICD and then maybe we are talking. . .

This is an important tidbit. I'm tired of using discipline. I've used it for 9 years (or since trait reworks). The pigeonholing needs to stop.
-
Yet it is a very short range and you're locked into the animation which means you can't do the one thing everyone instinctively tries to do after breaking stun: DODGE!
-
This can only come from someone who has never actually tried to use it in high-end play.
-
It's a stunbreak that often fails at being a tool to get you out of a jam thanks to all the blindness and pulsing CC now in the game. So, a useless stunbreak ~50% of the time.

Headbutt not applies 1 stack of Stability and Resistance for 1 sec when activated. When headbutt hits a target, Stability is removed. Headbutt deals increased damage per stack of stability removed. That's it. All of a sudden it's a useable elite skill.

Herald has never NOT been viable. Idk what you're smoking.

This just in: Vindicator still unkillable
Ovark.2514 replied to Ovark.2514's topic in Player vs. Player
Maybe but what about the "fun" factor? This is a game after all. It's not: one person has fun while other watches, kinda game -

"Conquer the Creator" Achievement

lol true. I think I've played PvP with a dev like twice since launch. They don't have their dev icon hidden. -
Is PvP as bad as everyone is claiming it is?
Ovark.2514 replied to aserian.1734's topic in Player vs. Player
sPvP is a game mode that lives and dies on having build diversity. Anet thinks "As long as there is a (1) build usable in high-end play for each class, PvP is in a healthy state." Consequently, there are anywhere from 33-66% of skills and traits on classes that are simply so bad for sPvP that no one will ever get out of gold with a build that uses them. This is why I think sPvP is, and has always been, in a downward spiral. Power politics means that Anet will only ever care about the PvE aspects of the game because those players are the ones that spend the most on the cash shop. No incentives=no change for sPvP. -
Or at all for that matter? Then it hits your with power damage so you need to use a skill to save yourself then die instantly to confusion. . .

The results of this poll seem very suspect. At plat+ almost everyone is playing the meta. Maybe it's just that because guard and necro have always been the favorite children by anet, the players who end up in platinum happen to main those classes. Though, judging by how many people swap classes from warriors and engis to a meta spec right before match start I would hazard a guess not.

Yes we know, we were there. The post is hyperbole to get attention and because I just had gotten out of a match with one or more of these monstrosities and was extra frustrated. It's just so unacceptable to have this go on for 4 months before a fix is implemented. Just one huge slap in the face to everyone who plays the game mainly for sPvP.

Why does it get to have a 3 second ticking float that triggers on a DELAY so that they can pre-cast it before getting into position? Why is it a FLOAT where a normal stunbreak doesn't even work because then you must fall to the ground before dodging but then can't move because you are CC'd again instantly? Why does harbinger apply torment as it's main condition so that despite CC having "no damage" you will still die to their shroud 5 every time because you're immobilized into tons of torment stacks? Why do I have to play with the sound on in order to have half a chance to avoid shroud 5? Can't a visual tell exist? Why does Harbinger get to have constant pulsing quickness while spitting out ranged attacks? Why can't I get a good look at the harbinger's HP bar when it's in shroud since shroud doesn't absorb damage anymore? The list goes on. . .
